Here’s a lil update for those that actually pay attention. Which probably isn’t very many of you. It seems like myspace is becoming as cool as a kick in the shins while facebook and twitter are the new black. Fyi, you can find me at facebook.com/djlenza and twitter.com/djlenza lol
Anyway. Just to speak my mind, life is good. I have an amazing wife. An adorable child. Not to mention some of the greatest friends and family a guy could ask for. There isn’t too much in my life that I would change right now except maybe the digits in my bank account but theres not much I can do about that besides work some more or get people to pay me the money they owe me. Djing an extra night a week is helping big time. Just about got all the bills down to a current status and starting to put some funds away for some equipment upgrades. I really have my eye on one of those new macbook pros. The Compaq is starting to crap the bed and it makes me nervous. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself, def don’t want it shittin the bed in a middle of a packed dance floor.
Speaking of spinning. Here’s the current schedule….wed – Fri. oasis in Portland. And starting this Saturday I’ll be at club oasis in old orchard beach. Im pretty excited. I was at the lookout in Belfast for awhile but I just couldn’t do it anymore. It takes too much time away from me that I could be spending w/ mary and kayden. Kat and Tina were so cool to work for and im grateful for the chance to work for them. The patrons of the lookout are unforgettable. But when it comes down to it driving a four hours combined just isn’t worth it especially when there’s no guarantee that the place will be busy and djing for 20 people sucks. Tonight im spinning at the spatech style show. Have to say im a tad bit nervous, the students work really hard on this and I hope I don’t screw it up by picking bad tunes, but they cant complain too much, they didn’t give me any info about what they wanted played for ther models….i’ll just wing it and play some up beat vogue type stuff…fashionista!!!!
Anyway, the three year anniversary is coming up. Trying to come up w/ some good/romantic ideas to celebrate. Im sure a nice dinner and some sparkly jewelery would be a big hit Well not much else to say…hope everyone is well

the new floor is in, i have some pics on my camera i'll try to get them posted on the oasis myspace soon. the upstairs bar has been stained they are waiting for the new marble top to be cut then i believe the bar equipment (coolers, soda lines, etc) will be installed, the booth has been resurfaced and it looks nice, just waiting/praying a piece of plexi glass gets installed to keep the drunks from spilling a drink into the booth. i got the sound system all hooked up sunday. not sure what the plan is w/ the downstairs at this point i know they are putting a new top on the bar and installing bubble wall....
well thats it for now word on the street is that the owners are shooting for an opening date of march 7 but thats not set in stone yet it will be open before st pattys day for sure

so i was down at the oasis today, had to grab the dj gear got a gig over at club 188 tommorow rockin the dance floor for the under 21 crowd...but anway. so i was at oasis and wow they are going to town with the renovations. people arent going to recognize the place when they reopen. its just in the demo stage but im so impressed with all the proposed asthetic changes that are going to be made its like fun meets classy and they both get along with each other. it makes threeways attempts at making the place look like a turd i left in the toilet earlier. no joke. once the oasis reopens people are going to be suprised. i have a good feeling about this whole situation, the people in charge really have there heads on straight...well thats all for now, i'll update you again when i have more info.

Threeways out, Cake to walk, Oasis to return >>Big changes are afoot in the heart of Portland's Old Port. Five nightclubs and bars have either closed or will soon close within the block of Fore and Wharf streets between Union Street and the byway the cops call "piss alley." >> >>Digger's and Liquid Blue, the adjoining bar and dance club on Fore Street owned by Tom Manning, closed earlier this month after Manning lost his appeals to have the establishments' liquor and entertainment licenses reinstated. Manning is also the proprietor of The Iguana, a bar on Wharf Street expected to close in a few months, when its lease ends. >> >>Cake, the restaurant and nightclub Manning opened next door to The Iguana about a year ago, is also on its way out, said Mike Harris, who holds the lease on a portion of Cake's space. Manning's attorney, Gary Prolman, has not returned calls seeking comment. >> >>Harris formerly leased the building next door to Cake, when it was the dance club Oasis. Oasis closed in late 2006 and was replaced by the dance club Threeways, which recently ran afoul of its neighbors [see "Wharf Street uprising," Oct. 7, 2007, in News]. The Portland City Council gave Threeways a probationary period of sorts last month to clean up its act. Instead, the club's clearing out to make way for: Oasis. >> >>Harris said a new company has bought the lease and Oasis' name from him, and plans to reopen the club next month. The reborn Oasis will be "the same thing," Harris said. "Same staff, same music, same fun stuff" – just a different owner. The new owner's request for liquor and entertainment licenses is expected to come before the city council on Feb. 4. >> >>Harris also owns The Stadium, a sports bar on Free Street that made news last year when he announced plans to make it Maine's first Hooters, inspiring a brief city ban on chain businesses downtown. Harris said he's helping a representative of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates (KDA), the New York–based real estate investment firm that owns several buildings in the area, find new tenants for the properties. >> >>The owners want "a high-end restaurant" in Cake's space, Harris said. Other sources have talked more specifically of that being an Italian restaurant. Representatives of KDA were not immediately available for comment. >> >>Plans for Liquid Blue "are kind of up in the air [between] nightclub and retail," said Harris. The adjacent Digger's space is being eyed for another restaurant, and The Iguana may change ownership but remain largely the same, he added. >> >>So, for those of you keeping score, that's five bar/nightclubs out, two new restaurants likely coming in, plus one or two new nightclubs and another being reborn, with the possibility of one new retail shop instead of a third club. >> >>Speaking of retail, the hip Bayside t-shirt, clothing and accessory company Rogues Gallery is opening a store on the same block, at 41 Wharf St., on Feb. 1. That space was last occupied by 2 Note, a perfumery that's since retrenched and moved operations to Brackett Street, in Portland's West End.
