Talk to us! Join the Brand New Sin Forum! http://brandnewsin.hyperboards.com Check out the new BNS EPK video documentary @ http://brandnewsin.org
Thursday, November 19, 2009

We are currently viewing the footage for our upcoming DVD and specifically our new EPK (electronic press kit). You know how it is- we're just looking for errors or video/audio sync problems before publishing it.

YOU fans are going to dig this shit. Hell, I dig it! It's a captivating behind the scenes look into our band which, until now, hasn't happened in this context. We answer some frequently asked questions as well as many you may never have thought to ask. You'll also get some insight as to what this album is about and what it means to us.

There are some real gems in this footage: "Even though I don't really have any hard feelings... I'd rather write an anger than speak an anger. I don't mean half the shit I say, I'm really a happy person, believe it or not." - Kris Wiechmann

It's coming real soon. I hope you get a kick out of it!

........................................

Posted by Mark Bialczak/The Post-Standard ..August 30, 2009.. ..6:00AM..

Here's my Post-Standard review of Brand New Sin's "Distilled."
The power trio format flatters Brand New Sin.
Personnel changes over the past two years have pared the ....Syracuse.... hard rock band to three.
On "Distilled," guitarist-singer-producer ..Kris Wiechmann.. proves to be a natural behind the wheel.
The band's fourth CD is crisp, clear and still full of enough sharp edges to satisfy longtime fans of Brand New Sin's catalog.
Recorded at SubCat Music Studios in Skaneateles, with a co-producing credit as well as added percussion work by veteran engineer and drummer Ron Keck, the dozen songs are aimed at heart and head.
The album takes an interesting start with the bluesy "Enjoy the Ride." Adding to the always-solid foundation of rhythm section ..Chuck K..ahl on bass and Kevin Dean on drums, the harmonica work of Steve Melkanos and backup vocals of Leila Dean add rich textures to Weichmann's acoustic guitar and honest vocals.
It doesn't take long for the hard rock attack, with song two "The Death of One Thing or Another" and then the snarling "Breaking Bottles."
Party anthem-in-waiting "Summertime" follows with a big beat, thunderous bass and heated-up vocals as Wiechmann sings, "She's in the red dress looking pretty, dancing on stage to '....Paradise.. ..City.....' She's got a little black box full of money that she only made just calling me honey."
With "Down Myself," Brand New Sin tackles an issue that should make everybody think in these troubled economic times.
Wiechmann sings to an acoustic curtain pure and simple, "Surviving on raindrops and the crusts of bread. Sleeping on the sidewalk, hoodie hung over my head. I've been returning bottles. Hit a run of bad road."
Then the song turns electric, full of power and relevance.

Catch a show: Brand New Sin's CD release show is 9 p.m. Friday at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse. Our 11th Hour, Feeding Affliction and Augustine are also on the bill. Tickets are $10.

On our Myspace page and our website home page you will find our newest single called "Fly" from our latest independent CD "Distilled". It's a cool blend of southern rock and hard-rockin' classic metal.

Speaking of our home page and our independence, http://brandnewsin.com is still owned by the first record label. At this time it is not re-directing to http://brandnewsin.org which is the official Brand New Sin website. Thankfully, the owner of Now Or Never Records has agreed to let us have it. Please bare with us as the transition takes place in the next couple weeks.

This is an excerpt from the Brand New Sin Forum http://brandnewsin.hyperboards.com/

..."I guess we just always saw this band with a "front man" and Kris never considered the idea of taking on the job until Joe Sweet left. I am extremely proud of him!

Summertime, Two Middle Fingers and Fly were written way back when Slider was still in the band (2004). Kris and Kenny recorded the first demo of Summertime with Kenny on guitar and Kris on drums and I really didn't change many of the drum parts at all (yes - he's a one man show - Lenny Kravitz meets Bob Dylan). Kris showed me "Crossed Out and Changed" last year....

SUBCAT, BRAND NEW SIN COLLABORATE ON POWERFUL ‘DISTILLED’

SKANEATELES, NY – SubCat Music Studios is proud to announce the completion of Brand New Sin’s latest album “Distilled.” Not only did Brand New Sin record “Distilled” at SubCat Music Studios, Ron Keck, Senior Audio Engineer for SubCat was executive producer along with Kris Wiechmann of Brand New Sin. “Distilled” is SubCat Music Studios’ first project with Brand New Sin. “Brand New Sin were unbelievable to work with,” said Ron Keck, Senior Audio Engineer, SubCat Music Studio. “They were willing to experiment, pushing their creativity to new levels, and, as a result, “Distilled” is a powerful record. It’s wicked catchy.”

Mr. Keck approached Brand New Sin to work at SubCat Music Studios because of their unique sound and their industry reputation for musicianship and professionalism. “Brand New Sin came into the studio prepared and ready to work,” said Keck. “The whole album took 80 hours – fast for a project of this scope.”

“I wanted to work with them for years, and this project came up and we jumped at the chance to collaborate.” Kevin Dean, drummer for Brand New Sin, is a former percussion student of Mr. Keck’s. “I saw ‘Distilled’ as a personal project – both as a producer and as an audio engineer.”

Dropped on Wednesday, July 8, the official CD release party for “Distilled” is on Friday, July 10 at Mac’s Bad Art Bar in Mattydale. Prior to the CD release party, Brand New Sin will be at the Hot Topic at Great Northern Mall. Upcoming events for “Distilled” include July 17 at the Adam’s Hotel in Adams (with a meet at the Hot Topic at the Watertown Mall prior to the show); July 23 at Looney Tunes CD Store in Long Island; and July 24 and 25 at Uncle Mike’s in Manhattan.
