So California, all done and dusted, we have to say it rained a lot more than we thought it would i.e. everyday and while we were meant to have 6 gigs there we could only play 5, which was a shame. There was a technical problem with the Sacramento gig and we couldn’t play, so we’re so sorry to all the fans that drove 3 hours to find that we weren’t playing, we tried our best.
Modesto was fun; it’s full of virtual gaming pods where you can play Battletech in big Mech’s. Very cool venue, just sucked we ended up opening the night because the 2 local bands that were meant to play before us turned up 10 minutes after they were meant to be onstage.
In Fresno something kicked off after we had played, we don’t know what, but they were going to shut the whole venue down before Agraceful or Blessed had played. Love Hate Hero had van trouble, so couldn’t make it, but again cool little venue and it turned out a lot better than we thought it would.
Anaheim, well? after some confusion we had 10 minutes before we were due on stage, so a bit of a rush, but it turned out well even if it was a short set.
Hollywood, we wandered around for ages with JK trying, but failing, to find the Hollywood sign he’d seen earlier that morning.
San Diego, this was probably our favourite as we got to see the beach and the Pacific Ocean, just an awesome time. But we already covered that in an earlier blog.
It took a 26 hour drive through the desert to get from Sacramento to Albuquerque, now if you check a map it’s only around 1000 miles, but we got diverted due to a storm and Google maps calculates the journey time according to the speed limit which is generally around 75mph, well the only way this bus is going to do that speed is if it’s dropped from a great height from an aircraft, it will do 55 on the flat, 65 downhill and somewhere between 20 and 35 going up hill and the road to Albuquerque is mainly uphill. Every time you look out of your window it’s just a different part of the same desert.
However, we stopped at some interesting places, one of the rest stops had a gentlemen’s club there, but you had to be a Harley Biker to be allowed in, so we just made assumptions as to what the dancers in there looked like, sorta reminded us of the movie from Dusk till Dawn.
So, we are pretty much half way through the tour, got about 3 more gigs in what we call the warm states and then we start making our way up North to places that make Manchester look like the burning fires of hell, shame JK didn’t bring a coat?
We’ve had a decent tour of all the food in Cali, we finally got to go to ‘In ‘n’ Out Burger’ and it deserves its reputation, the burgers are fantastic! however the fries are not so great, we’ve had a few Taco Bell’s and stopped off in the home of ‘Del Taco’ somewhere on the drive to Albuquerque, but all we’ve eaten for 2 weeks is fast food so we all feel a little worse for wear and would probably give our right arms for something that remotely resembled a salad, which is really saying something.
So we’re all at Tony’ from Blessed house tonight, we’re all looking forward to having our first decent shower in a week, if you don’t count the constant drizzle in Cali, that is!
So today is the gig in a church, it’s the first time any of us have been in a church in America, so should be an interesting new experience.
