The Woodstock Allstars are a loosely held together group of
friends that just happen to be some of the most amazing musicians in the world.....
....
First assembled by
venerable guitarist David Malachowski (Shania Twain, Savoy Brown, Commander
Cody) to headline the Lake George Blues Festival in 2007, that edition included
drummer Harvey Sorgen (Hot Tuna) guitar slinger Albert Cummings and singer Jill
Stevenson. The name was borrowed from a friend; the late Artie Traum.....

This year’s configuration includes; singer Machan Taylor,
who in addition to fronting her own Brazilian music based band has sang
background with Pink Floyd, Sting and Govt. Mule, drummer Gary Burke, who
provided the thunder for Bob Dylan’s legendary Rolling Thunder Tour, the Rick
Danko Band and Joe Jackson as well as played with Malachowski in Shania Twain’s
band. Also on board; bass genius Tony Levin, who is known for his brilliant
work with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, John Lennon and his extensive credits.
Keyboard ace Pete Levin has toured with Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Gil Evans and
well, everybody. The always inventive Daniel A Weiss plays keyboards with Joan
Osborne, Cassidy and is always very busy on Broadway. Harp wizard Dennis
Gruenling fronts his own popular blues band Jumptime.....

Though Malachowski is leader, everyone gets featured, solos
are passed around family style, and jamming is where the real magic happens.
Originals by each member fall into standards, which are stretched to the limit.

Often hemmed in by the constraints of being a sideman, here
Malachowski moves around as he pleases, with power, passion and abandon, going
out on limbs, and maybe coming back …....
