Once again, a bit delayed on this post....
but not too late to announce that the Aviators 7's squad traveled to Atlanta, GA for the 10th Annual Renegades 7's Tournament on June 7 and walked away as CHAMPIONS in the Men's Social bracket of the tournament!!!
After a slow start and despite only having 10 players for the whole tournament, the Aviators made it into the playoffs and cruised to victory in matches against strong 7's clubs including: The Piglets, the Slackers, and Renegades b to take home the Championship trophy!
Congrats goes to the whole side but especially the Man of the Tournament Marc "Georgia" Thomas who played stellar the whole day but also played in his final tournament with the Aviators.

Well, this is a bit delayed but just wanted to post some results for our the Aviators Summer 7's season which is in full swing.
Our first tournament of the month, the Okaloosa 7's in Destin, was a success. The Aviators fielded two teams during the tournament. The Aviators Gold side cruised thru the pool play with wins of 55-0, 30-0, and 24-15 against Okaloosa, Jackson, and the SLUTS to advance as the top seed from their pool. The Aviators then cruised in their quarterfinal match to advance to the semifinals where they faced Baton Rouge. Unfortunately the Aviators couldn't capitalize on the game tying try in the last 2 minutes and ended up losing by 5 points. However, due to our strong performance in previous matches we played in the Cup Championship match against Birmingham immediately following the loss but rebounded quickly with a shutout victory to take home the Cup trophy.
It was a long day of rugby but overall a success. Other new members got their first action in 7's rugby to gain some quality experience. Congrats are in order to our Man of the Tourney who was Doug Jolly.

3/31/08 Pensacola Finishes 7-1 in Spring Play. Pensacola RFC traveled to Panama City Beach this past Saturday for their final game of the season. The Aviators finished the spring schedule with a strong performance against Panama City and won the match 91-5. Pensacola RFC played very well for the most part despite several knock-ons in the open field. The match was controlled by strong play in the pack which led to plenty of clean balls and open field for our backline, and they capitalized with good play. Congratulations to flyhalf Rob Dugan who received man of the match for his great running in the open field, which led to him touching down 4 tries and setting up many more.

3/24/08 Pensacola improves to 6-1 against Columbus. Pensacola RFC hosted Columbusthis past Saturday for their final home game of the season. The Aviators played a solid match against a motivated Columbus team that still had playoff aspirations, but those were smashed by the Aviators as the controlled the whole match despite a few starters and won the match 32-21. The match was controlled by strong play in the pack all day. The Aviators back 3 also played stellar to shutdown Columbus’s game plan to use the kicking game to control the match, which quickly turned into their downfall. Congratulations to fullback Craig "Fluffer" Nosewich who received man of the match for his great running and kicking in the open field, which countered the continuous kicking of the Columbus side.
