Dear Friends,

It's been a long time since I have written but I wanted to post that I have a new film opening in theatres this summer. It's called THE ORDER OF MYTHS, and it is opening in New York this weekend at the IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue, www.ifccenter.com).

Here are the details:

"The Order of Myths" is coming out this Friday, July 25th in New York City. Please forward to your friends and come out and support this weekend (the first weekend is the most important!).

Margaret Brown and three of the principal cast members will be around to do a Q & A on Friday night at the 8.05pm and 10pm screenings.

Also, Margaret will be doing Q & A's at the Saturday and Sunday night screenings this weekend at the 6pm and 8.05 screenings.

Here is a link to buy tickets:
http://www.movietickets.com/pre_purchase.asp?house_id=9598&movie_id=62489&showdate=3

It's not up quite yet but soon there will be a website up for www.theorderofmyths.com

For now, if you want to be on that list, just email me at rakefilms@gmail.com, and I will add your name.

also we are on facebook, and myspace, so please add us!:

all the best,
Margaret

Here are a few advanced press reviews:

"The documentary that left the strongest impression [from Sundance]....as big and richly complex as the United States itself." Mahnola Dargis, The New York Times

"Now comes the latest winner, Margaret Brown's penetrating The Order of Myths. Brown explores a potentially enraging subject - rigidly upheld racial segregation in the country's oldest Mardi Gras celebration, in Mobile, Alabama-but her touch is so unforced and her gaze so open that no one is bruised." David Edelstein, New York Magazine

Hi, we've got some t-shirts that Jordan Mattos designed up on our website. I ran into him at a party at SXSW and he was wearing a Fassbinder "beware of the holy whore" tshirt that was hand-drawn with magic marker. I asked him where he had found it, and he said he had made it. So I asked if he would do one for the film.

check it out here:
http://www.townesthemovie.com/orderts.html

and check out Jordan's site here:
www.jordanmattos.com

The tee shirts will take 3-4 weeks to arrive, but they are beautiful and worth the wait.

Best,
Margaret

Hey, i just wanted to post this from Lucy Evans - the "graceless lady" of myspace fame - who organized a fabulous sold out event for the UK release of Be Here To Love Me last Saturday, and managed to raise several hundred pounds for for SHELTER, a UK charity for the homeless.

Thank you Lucy, I bet Townes would have approved.

----

Be Here To Love Me: A thankyou!

Thankyou to EVERYONE who made Saturday night such a success ... the musicians; Alan Tyler, Dan Raza, Duke Garwood, Emma Tricca and Helen Keen, Will from Treecreeper, Paul The Girl, Pat and Olly from Southern Tenant Folk Union, Vince McCann, The Fine arts Showcase, Adam from The Tailors, Emily Barker, Jason McNiff, and Royal Gun - every artist who interpreted Townes' songs in the most individual way... from bluesy and finger-pickin' to outright rock and roll (ta James and Royal Gun!) we had it all... Thanks also to the fantastic DJs; Jimmy (Health and Happiness), Richard Olson (18th Day of May) and the ever-wonderful Jon The Boatman. Extra special thanks to Andy Washington for helping me with all things 'door' related! And to Tracy and Tom ... and my Dad.

Thanks also to everyone single one of you who came down and made the night so special. Thanks to Snapper Music, The Spitz, Hanna Sunden for designing the fab (and speedy) flyers, and to Margaret Brown for making such a great film in the first place. And thanks also to Townes for making such wonderful music.

Graceless x

AND ... Not only did we have a tip-top night, but we managed to raise several HUNDRED pounds for the charity Shelter* as well. I'm still working on the final total but hope to have a cheque set out to them by Friday.

*when I discussed which charity it should be with Margaret, she was keen to empasise Townes' sympathy for the homeless ... and it seemed a good choice. I hope you agree. xx
