So,
Darrell D sent me this clip (comment below):
BattleMonkeys/FullForce (left) vs
Rock Steady Crew (right)
Is this what b-boying has become?1. Why do b-boys always hesitate to be the first to go out when a battle starts? What are they afraid of? Crazy Legs was there. Why didn't he just be the first one to show people what it's all about? Battle tactics? Let me tell you, if you still believe in "battle tactics", then you will never be the b-boy (or girl) that you could be. A b-boy battle is not about battle tactics, it's about b-boying.
2. The first crew to go out starts the battle (finally) with a wack routine. And what does RSC do? Respond with an equally lame routine, themselves. Fuck routines. They rarely ever contain great b-boying. The reason people do routines is the same reason they do flair combinations: to blow up the crowd. It has nothing to do with dancing--as demonstrated by both sides in this battle.
3. Speaking of b-boying, why is it that the first glimpse of it doesn't even happen until 4:04 in the clip? Good ol' Easy Roc.
In this video, BattleMonkeys/FullForce is garbage, and Rock Steady barely showed even a sliver of greatness it once had. Seems like Crazy Legs has turned RSC into a money making machine at the expense of what was once a fantastic b-boy crew.
I puke on this video.
Real b-boys, please come back and save the world. Where ever you are.
