How does my band get on at the Cellar Bar?
First off get some of your music to our Events Team or the venue, either by mail or by handing a CD in over the bar to one of our friendly members of staff. Emails with small MP3s or links to hosted tracks are cool too. All the details you need are on the contact page, but make sure you include your contact details including a phone number and email address. If you prefer to, you can also reach us through Myspace, but PLEASE include alternative contact details in your message – we all know too well that the 'place for friends' frequently goes down or does crazy sh*t, don't leave us out on a limb, send us an email and contact telephone number. But we also cater heavily for the local music scene and actively encourage groups from further afield to our home.

How we book gigs at The Underground...
If you would like to be considered to perform at The Underground please bear in mind the following.
1) Please do not send us messages through MySpace asking for gigs. They will be ignored.
2) Feel free to send us your demo CDs through the post to the address below, but please do not message us here, e-mail, or ring the venue enquiring after its progress. We apologize but we simply do not have time to reply.

To get a gig at Brighton Barfly a band needs to provide the promotions manager with a CD demo. Before you send off your demo, check that it works. Barfly receives a large number of CD-Rs that do not play! Don't forget to label the CD with contact details of the band so that if it becomes separated from it's packaging, you are still contactable for a gig. Think twice before including just a mobile number – what happens if you lose your phone?
What to include with you demo? It is always valuable to include:
•A contact sheet / cover letter, clearly laid out with contact names, phone numbers and an active email address. If you include an email address, don't forget to check it regularly! Promoters work on a tight time scale and need to maximize the time that they have to promote each gig.
•You should also include the URL of your band myspace or website if you have one and a postal address to which we can send contacts and gig flyers.
•A brief biography of the band which includes info about who you are, how old you are and where you are based. A couple of sentences about your promotional techniques is always a winner – it shows that you are pro-active and take your band seriously – a promoter is much more likely to book a band that understand the nature and importance of active promotion.
