"MySpace Disables Auto-Play Of Profile Songs To Get Streaming Costs Under Control by Michael Arrington (techcrunch.com) on August 18, 2009
MySpace Music, which launched a little less than a year ago, is the one bright spot of growth in an otherwise flatlining MySpace.
But all that popularity comes at a price – billions of free streaming songs are costing MySpace up to $10 million a month in streaming fees, says a source, and the joint venture may lose $20 million or more this year.
To minimize those losses, MySpace has made a big change to its product – songs no longer auto-play when you visit a MySpace user profile. Autoplays accounted for a billion or more song streams per month, and were costing MySpace a significant amount of money. Turning off that hose is a cost saving maneuver. This also has the benefit, sources say, of improving the user experience and providing labels with better listening data."
...............This migh explain why it's stopped working, although you can turn it back on again in your My Account settings

We've now got a page, on Facebook for those of you that use it. A quick search for Hoaxwind should find us pretty easily. There's also a Hoaxwind page at www.reverbnation.com/hoaxwind that allows you to download tracks (like MySpace used to !!). Also, we've had some T-shirts made, that will be available at gigs and, if there's any demand, maybe we'll sell them via eBay or something for those further afield. We've got them in most sizes and they're an orange logo on a black shirt.

Galaxies collided. The fickle lizard of fate scuttled across the face of time. The Ancient Ones stirred. There had been a disturbance in the natural balance of things. Yes, a new set of warriors were required. The Ancient Ones deliberated. But who ? Who was to take up the mantle of the old heroes? Those unique talents, whose combined gifts helped educate a whole generation, (and point the way forward to the new millennium). The Ancient Ones pondered, moments passed. The Ancient Ones conferred. They had chosen their new champions.
They were named thus: Firstly: the sonic pilot who would fly the new ship; navigate the hazardous pathways of a new era. A young sonic controller, Joolz, of the planet Bacchus. Yes, he would fill flight lieutenant Calvert’s shoes admirably.
Nextly: A science officer, young Crazy Hair McGovern, relentless sonic experimenter, rumoured to be a descendant of such luminaries as Blake, Mik and House.
But wait ! A captain ! A new commander was needed - the obvious choice; Phil of the Axe. With skills of string, key and esoteric engineering, he would be the new master of the ship.
But ! This universe straddling vehicle would also require some propulsion. The motor room of such a ship needs an engine of truly impressive proportions. One well versed in the manipulation of ancient materials - High Priest Mick of the Chapel - he would propel this vehicle to new heights. And, from the planets southern hemisphere, Pablo of the Battery. A true powerhouse well suited to this magnificent vessel.
Yet, not enough. Further crew were deemed necessary. The Ancient Ones chose, not at random, Tony of the Dyson Clan, to provide further harmony and sonic madness to the project.
And lastly, a controversial figure, deemed unnecessary by some; the wizard Eugene. Jester at the court of the Ancient Ones: to blow mad truths with his golden horn and silver pipes.
At last. The Ancient Ones were happy. They looked on their creation and knew that it was good.
And they named it: Hoaxwind.

This is a review of our recent gig. It was written by Matthew in Ham for which we'd like to thank him. He also has reviews of Space Ritual & Stackridge gigs on his myspace page, as well as some photos from the Hawkwind tribute night, so please take a look.
"Excellent Hawkwind tribute concert
The prospect of a concert of Hawkwind music was always going to be tempting, but when it is held in a pub a mile down the road then there is simply no excuse for not going. The venue was The Fighting Cocks in Kingston which, for some reason I had never been to before, which proved to be a lively pub with a decent pint of Hobgoblin.
The evening started with a short set by Xenon Codex who played a medley of, I guess, their own material and culminating with Spirit of The Age. The crowd were duly warmed up ready for the main acts
Next up were local band Hoaxwind featuring the engaging Eugene on sax and with Julian, dressed in best Bob Calvert style flying suit and helmet, on vocals.
Hoaxwind were a lot of fun and played mid 70s Hawkwind with enthusiasm and gusto.
The Hawkwind albums from that period, such as "Hall of the Mountain Grill" and "Amazing Sounds, Amazing Music" are my favourites so I really loved their song selection.
Sadly the strict curfew at the venue meant that Hoaxwind had to finish when still in full swing to allow the main act their full time
The Assassins of Silence ended the evening with a very professional rendition of more Hawkwind classics; the bands had discussed set lists beforehand to avoid playing the same songs.
For some reason, the whole band wore Dave Brock style white coats which while a clear homage to Hawkwind was a little odd as there is clearly only one Dave Brock in the band.
Assassins of Silence seem to understand that visually they do not offer very much so they employ the distracting charms of a dancer, as Hawkwind often do too.
But the music is the main thing and they played an interesting selection of Hawkwind greats, i.e. not just the obvious greatest hits, and they played them well changing them enough to make them more exciting but not too much to miss the point of being a Hawkwind tribute.
The 11pm curfew came all too quickly and the music had to end. It was a cracking evening much enjoyed by the packed hall and I hope to go to similar gigs in the future."

One of our online friends has suggested we do an album, and call it Fake Ritual. We think this is a cracking idea, and may well do it.
