Hello Folks,

We're in the doing away with the HuDost news page and moving all of our updates to the HuDost BLOG over at WordPress: http://hudost.wordpress.com/

This page will still be up for a little while until the full transition has been made. The HuDost Calendar is also in the process of being changed and updated to a more interactive site. In the meantime, you can continue to find out dates there or at MySpace where we always update first until the calendar takes effect.

You can also now follow HuDost ramblings on TWITTER. Yup, it's true.
http://www.twitter.com/hudost

And there's an 'Official' HuDost Facebook page where you can follow us and be a fan.
http://www.facebook.com/hudost

With so many options and avenues open, I assume you all wonder how we keep it all straight. Well, the aforementioned new Blog and Calendar pages will help us do just that. EVERYTHING in CyberWorld is going to be sync'ed and linked! And once all of this is in line, we'll also have a HuDost IPhone APP, so we'll all be able to follow each other around and know exactly every breath we take, every rest stop we rest and stop at, every fancy little organic market we discover down the road and every stage we step on. You won't have time to blink or miss a THING!

Seriously...We thank you all for your support and love. There's MUCH more coming soon from the HuDost camp. Many new songs are already brewing, there's a live concert video in the works as well as a 'Making of' Documentary of Trapeze', new TShirts and two new solo albums by HuDost bassist Dan Walters on the 'Open Sesame Music' label.. (We'll be doing a full press release announcement on that VERY soon!

How many people are required as a minimum for the feeling of a family unit to commence? Three? Four? And, on the other end of the spectrum, what is the maximum capacity for the feeling of family to be retained?… FloydFest holds the answer to this question. We have attended and performed at an ongoing slew of festivals and I must say that I am quite impressed that FloydFest has made such conscious efforts to retain the overall sensations of familial reciprocity and joy with an attendance of approximately 13500 people. They have a fantastic recycling program that has children at every station informing people of what to do with their trash (these children are far more competent in this capacity than any of the adults who come to them with sullied hands, confused expressions and gifts of garbage…actually, it is a fascinating role reversal). They have designated bar tents so that alcohol consumption and the littering that results is confined to certain areas. They have amazingly good and respectably healthy food. And, here is the kicker; they have phenomenally great music that inspires all of the people present. We were happy to be a part of the bill of wonderful performers. We were present in seven-piece mode (two percussionists- Julian Douglas and Michael Rutherford, kit drummer- Ocie Davis, Bass- Dan Walters, Sarah Bowman- Cello and back up vocals, and of course, Jemal on Guitars and back up vocals and myself on lead vocals and harmonium). It was quite the posse. I adored playing with such an attentive and synched crew of excellent musicians. I have come to a place in my musicianship with HuDost where I adore the opposite extremes…either the raw, intimate and stripped down duo mode of Jemal and I (the addition of Sarah to this is lovely), or the full powerful shebang of the larger ensemble. All of that to say that at FloydFest we somehow delivered both intimacy and large-scale rock. Audiences expressed this very thing to us…I salute the fantastic happy dancing audiences that were present at our shows. We also had the opportunity to attend the shows of some fabulous bands including Blues Traveler (who I had never listened to before and was bedazzled by what they do musically), the Lee Boys, The New Familiars, Belleville Outfit, and a huge slew of others. Yay FloydFest! Oh, one last thing, the mountains of Virginia are unbelievably gorgeous. A glance in any direction will yield potentially phenomenal photographic results. I would love to go back with nothing but camping supplies. And, possibly a guitar. Ok, and maybe a small recording devise. But nothing else. Seriously. Oh, did I mention gourmet campfire food? But that is it. I swear. - Moksha Sommer

A brief clip from the 2009 Charlotte Femme Fest featuring HuDost and The Bowmans with a cameo by Anais Mitchell.

First off, we get a glimpse of our the pre-gig preparations with lyrics learning and bathroom vocal warmups.

The only live clip captured was during HuDost's set as they were joined by The Bowmans
for the song 'Drowned in White' off of HuDost's new album 'Trapeze'
which was written by Moksha and Sarah Bowman.

FemmeFest was an awesomely beautiful event and we hope to see you all back next year.

So, Moksha has started a HuDost Blog over at WordPress.

We're not sure what we're going to do yet in regards to this here MySpace Blog that pretty much serves as a NEWS Update space. We'll still post the same kind of thing here,

but the WordPress Blog will be daily musings and thoughts and insights and not really NEWS per-se.

Here's the Link:

http://hudost.wordpress.com/

This is all a big experiment anyway now isn't it?

That being said, we're going to try it ALL out...

We're going to Twitter and we're going to do 12 Seconds TV and we're going to speak our minds and hearts and rant from time to time.

BTW,

Thank you all for tuning in to listen to Moksha's CBC program.

You can listen anytime right here:

http://www.cbc.ca/outfront/listen/2009/09-05-26.html

We're heading to Charlotte tomorrow for the FemmeFest on Saturday which is sure to be a BLAST! No more links for now.

Except for this one to the Femme Fest:

http://www.charlottefemmefest.org/

Unless you're still reading......we give you a bonus link below into the rare event of HuDost covering the Carpenters in rehearsal a week or two ago. Ssssssshhhhh....don't tell anyone this exists!!!! Good times!

The CBC producer Carma Jolly just sent me the rough draft of a program that covers what I have been through health-wise and the music that I/HuDost have written that is deeply intertwined with that process. It certainly delves into the raw elements of that process. For this program I interviewed Dr Del Maestro, the surgeon that removed the tumor from my brain. The program contains segments of that interview, segments of me talking about what I was experiencing at various times right into the surgery itself, and our music. I feel that it is an exposition of vulnerability, strength and the interrelation between the brain and music. It will be airing on nationally broadcast CBC’s program ‘Outfront’, on May 26th (TOMORROW NIGHT!) at 8:43 PM Eastern Standard Time. Here is a link to the program if you would like to listen to it online after that date:

HuDost recently played the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival in Silk Hope, North Carolina for the third time October 10-11th 2008. Here are two video clips from the Friday night October 10th performance edited together by Modern Resourcery. The video footage was shot via the GEO-CAM of George Tortorelli and from the audience by erick davis.
For these shows HuDost consisted of Moksha and Jemal Wade with bassist Dan Walters and percussionists Julian Douglas and Michael Rutherford.
The first track is a song from HuDost's upcoming Malcolm Burn produced record 'Trapeze' called 'Trespasser'.
..
The second song is a traditional Turkish illahi (hymn) called 'Erler Demine' or 'Dost Dost DOST!' Even though the audio quality is limited due to this only being captured on the video camera's small mic, be sure to listen to the low end freakyness of Dan Walter's bass solo at the end of the song.
..
BY THE WAY....HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL. We've been off the grid for the past couple of weeks, but are looking forward to hitting the road and seeing you all in 2009!
