Well howdy there! Hope everyone is doing well, i'm doing damn fine myself. We just finished a month at the Empress Hotel. A little residency to show off our new songs, and to keep things ticking along till we put something new out. Thursday nights in March it was, and a pleasure to see those of you who made it down. Jeremy Furze has been filling in on drums while Don gallavants around the globe. He's been doing a fantastic job, it's so great to have someone so professional and outgoing helping us out. From the first rehearsal it's been heads down and play like you mean it. Jez learnt all the drum parts and all the backing vocals prior to the first jam and we are so damn grateful. How about a hand for Jeremy! Over the four shows we were joined by The Bitter Sweethearts, Jessica Says, Denim Owl, Worlds End Press, Tom Woodward, Lehmann Smith, The Tiger and Me and our very own Extreme Wheeze. A totally eclectic mix of music, but a fairly accurate representation of the different tastes of the members of P. Falc. We played rather well i thought, we're finally beginning to nail down some of the more challenging vocal harmonies. Got a nice multi-track recording of week 2, some of which will find it's way onto an upcoming single release. Massive thanks to James Tulczyn and Spencer Dyson. Our two most favourite sound engineers in the whole world. All in all, it was a lot of fun and we're really looking forward to hitting the traps around the country to show you the new stuff.
Which brings me to:
Single release and tour!
We are finally hitting the road again. The last time we played outside Melbourne was in March 2008, so it sure is going to be nice to do some travelling again. We are going to put out a single from the album in Mid-May, and play shows in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane to support it. It's all booked and flights have been paid for and i promise i'll announce the dates real soon.
Anyway, thats about all the news for the moment, but before i go, i highly reccommend y'all check out the new single from Aleks and the Ramps and also the latest album from Motorpsycho, "Little Lucid Moments." Both totally fantastic! huh!Simon, X.

Hey Folks, Just a quick little blog-a log. We've been sending our record around to some labels, promoters etc in the hopes that someone will deign to spend money on us. Fingers crossed huh?! We're doing a super mega residency at The Empress in March, Thursday nights. Check out the gig listings on the front page. We'll have a special guest on drums, Jeremy Furze(Plastic Palace Alice, The Bitter Sweethearts, Krista Polvere etc) as Don is away for a bit. Come down and check it out if you have the time. We've put a new song up on the Front page. It's called "The simple things" and it's a ballad from the album. Lastly, we'll be doing a single launch tour in late May, hitting Canberra/Sydney/Brisbane and of course melbourne. The Single will be available at shows and online via this site. It'll have some nice Demo's and live tracks of songs that won't be appearing on the album. peace out! Simon. x

Hi Y'all,
How long has it been since we last posted something here? Months? Years. Time ebbs and flows and we're none the wiser. NEWS! We have finished mixing our debut album. An actual, real, 10 song album. It will be mastered before Christmas and hopefully someone cool will offer to aid us in it's release. Current front-runner for the title is; Here the silence. But knowing us it'll change. Here's a few details for the nerds:
Recording commenced in August, with 5 days tracking at Eastern Block studios in Hawthorn. Simon engineered it, ably assisted by Jimi Wyatt. We tracked into tools at 88.2khz, 24bit, through mitek and lynx converters. The desk was a MCI JH500, with Jensen transformer balanced mic pres. A couple of the guitar cab mics went through emi/chandler mic pres. The usual assortment of mics were present, and we utilised the Glynn Johns mic technique on a few tracks, though with the addition of room mics. We tracked 13 songs..... From august to nov 10 we did overdubs, Keys at a mates house in Brunswick, Vocals in Sydney at Alberts studios, using a Neumann u67 through a Mac-Hamilton valve pre and a Daking compressor. Strings at Ramp HQ, Horns at Simon's house. We Mixed in Sydney at Alberts, using Tools HD, a Euphonix desk(digital control surface for analougue racks) and some choice outboard. A few 1176LN's for guitars, and awa and an ssl to smash the drums through, and a shit-ton of echo-boy courtesy of tools. Monitoring was courtesy of Krix and Adam s3a's, and was very accurate thank you!
Hopefully we'll get this little slice of history making indie rock out early in the new year! Until then,
Adieu!

hey kids,
Well it has been a super busy month for Joe, Don, Hugo and I. Moreso for Joe and I, as the other two slackers only deign to make an appearance at every other show. Last weekend we headed off to Brisbane for a couple of shows, along with our retarded step-sister band, Aleks and the Ramps. We played Rics on sat night with local gals Sugartown, who kicked our arses at three part harmony. Bless 'em! I had a wicked cold, and began to lose my voice about halfway through the set. by the end i could only kinda yell at the mic, and could barely speak. It frickin' sucked! only happens about once a year fortunately. Sunday night at The wonderful Troubadour(shout outs to Jamie and Anthony!) was a lot better on my part, though the crowd didn't seem to really be with us..... twas fun though, got a real sweet live recording of the ramps, hopefully make it onto a record sometime. Mega-ups to Kristie, Lucy, Ashley and Hannah at the house on the hill for thier effortless care and kindness upon our wastrel souls!! XX
The previous weekend we headed to Sydney for a couple of random shows. Never having been we took what we could get and broke the seal. We managed to borrow a fantastic 60's Vox AC30 off unky Wayne, as well as a second Keeley Blues Driver, as Hugo always steals mine.... Friday night we played Bandwagon at the Bald Faced Stag, only about 50 payers, and didn't our sound bounce around the room like a rhino with ADHD! Loudest stage i've been on since roxanne parlour, fun though. we played a pretty tight set, not having been on stage together in about 2 months(with hugo that is), and trying a new song that the four of us had not played together before. Saturday we played at the excelsior, with the quietest and deadest stage sound ever, quite the contrast to friday. Thanks so much to Emily at Treble bookings for getting this one off the ground at such short notice. We played okay, feeling a teeny bit flat and dreading the midnight drive to Canberra. This was nesscessitated by Joe and i having to be back in Melbourne for sets at High Vibes the following day, argh!! That damn Hume! So, good shows, fun times were had, and we're looking forward now. feeling like we aren't challenging ourselves musically enough, needing new material and a new direction. I've put a couple of new songs up, both have been in the live set for a year now, and are still in that kinda alt-country vibe. Who knows where we're headed now, just don't expect hip-hop cross over stuff. i can't Rap, and my waist is too thin for those pants.
simon.

welcome back here to the mcg, or the gabba, or the wacca, or yr bedroom in front of the computer...... the falcon dragged themselves out of bed on friday morning, cold and miserable though it was, and drove the'selves to Canberra. Birthplace of Don, previous home of Simon, current home of Hugo, and thorn in the side of Joe. Upon hitting the Hume Freeway, a surprised frontman and drummer were to learn of a bass players recent conversion to veganism. "i totally respect yr decision joe, but we are gonna give you so much shit.... kinda a band tradition" avowed carnivore to vegan in one weekend! our old bass player in Hedys Lament also chose this path.... must be something about the rest of us?!? personally, i prefer my food to have/have had a face. Canberra was not as cold as was expected, probably 9 degrees, our stage at the ANU bar was in no condition to soundcheck upon, so we headed to the city for LAKSA!!!! at the civic version of the asian noodle house, quite the canberra culinary hotspot.... best bloody laksa i've had there in 5 years oi reckon.... Soundcheck comes and goes, stage sounds nice, but is roughly 3 football fields away from the crowd who, incedentally, are wearing football jumpers. hmmmm. Haunted Attics play real well, if a little stilted due to proximty, or lack thereof to the audience..... Tommy W kicks some arse, and is the only act tonight to get anyone up and dancing. bloody noice set i reckon! I am less drunk than last ANU show by the time we hit the stage(mid set peeing and general sloppiness on the last occasion), forget the words to a few songs, but play pretty darn well.... go out, get drunk, make a pass at a lovely lady from Louisville Kentucky. am neatly rebuffed with a horrified look, must be that i am cross-eyed drunk and leering.... can't be too sure. home by 0330. Saturday, sooner or later i'll i get the plane times right..... flight to brisbane, half the band nursing hangovers, other half drinking beers to batter hangovers into submission. alight at brisbane airport, musicians everywhere, guitar cases galore, seedy looking fucks desperate to get outside for a smoke.... hugo has left his book on the plane, and we have to re-jig our interview on 4ZZZ while he goes back to find it, thus delaying his own primi-cigarette in the process.... Meet the lovely Tiff at 4ZZZ, pick rekkids to play.... potentially start a fight with joe by changing the one song he wanted to play as soon as he leaves the room.... bunch of cunts really. attempt to rectify situation by bareing nipples, blowing kisses and playing the song he wanted.... he's in a bad mood till after we play sunday, when he gets to pash some hot biddy.... Our show at The Troubadour has been hijacked by a Dew Process records party... set time moved forward an hour, audience gets kicked out at 11:30. bunch of fuck-fucks. we make good by drinking more than our fair share on the dew process tab, and eating most of the VIP food when it arrives and is very stupidly left in the back room with drunken musicians....... eat it bernald.... make a hasty exit before we get the chance to meet the lads from the 'finger. did i mention that we love halfway? in nearly every blog i have ever posted i reckon. Glorious sunday morning in brisbane, 18% capacity in the dams and not a cloud in the sky.... beautiful. set at ric's to a very appreciative crowd, Liam from halfway air-drumming the whole thing, and some guy taking photos for some website.... if the show up i'll post them eh? shot-gunning cans till you feel like a man, high fiving hands and then we're kicking on.... to brisbane airport again, joe breaks wind on the plane(and stringently denies responsibility... but we know vegan farts smell the worst?!?). god-awful smell fills the cabin... flight attendants not impressed with smell or joe and simon singing doobie brothers on repeat due to lack of in flight entertainment....... home again, home again jiggety jig. it was well jackson. peace and fucking. believe.

Current mood: optimistic
Another weekend, another show, another rehearsal, another 20 odd beers, 2 sets of guitar strings, 1 floor tom skin, one train ride home(for Hugo). We played the Tote on friday night, to around 50 people, which is great for us, not so great for The Tote.... meh. for some reason i have never booked a show there that has actually pulled a decent crowd. i have no idea why. We played a cracking set, with Hugo down from Canberra(he moved there with his wife Emily in April) for an all too rare appearance with The Falcon. Played a cover of Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane," from the direction of Dinosaur Jr. Beer was drunk, backs were slapped, Little Athletics were superb, damn it, i had a GOOD night. Saturday was spent recovering, reading the papers and discussing the kind of things bands discuss the night after a great set to next to no-one.... Then we met up with Don and played over some new songs at Bakehouse studios. New songs are cool songs. These songs are more indie than the last songs, also more complex, but with less chords, if you scratch my drift.... In a couple of weeks we head off to play a show in ye olde home town of Canberra, abd then fly(ooooooo!) to Brisbane to play a couple of shows. Hugo and i have finally settled on guitar sounds that we like, after playing together and apart for what has to be 10 years now.... here's where we sit: SIMON: '65 Fender Mustang/'72 Gibson SG Line 6 DL4 MXR Micro Amp Rex Bassking 50w '60's Aussie Gtr amp(copy of Marshall JTM 45) Orange 2x12" cabinet with Celestion vintage 30's HUGO: '74 Fender Starcaster Dunlop FuzzFace Robert Keeley/Boss Blues Driver Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo Jansen Bass 50w amp(60's NZ amp, copy of Fender Bassman Eminar 2x12" Cab with rola speakers.... it's taken a really long time to get these two combinations together, been through lots of crappy amps, some nice amps, but nothing has come along that sounded how we wanted...... until now. Now i have to get to work on a funding application for an album.... and try not to get distracted............. ooooh, pretty colours. later.
