It's that time again friends. Your favorite Irish balladeer and aprentice chanteyman will be performing this Saturday the 28th at the Thomas Family Winery in Madison Indiana. Expect some old friends to drop by and sit in! The Thomas's offer a variety of delicious wines and cider, as well as the best cheeseplate around, served in a comfortable "old inn" atmosphere. When paired with a hootenanny of sea songs, chanteys, drinking songs, rebel tunes, and ballads from the Auld Country, you just can't go wrong. Show will start around 7:30 pm, so get there early and grab a table. And you know what...there's no cover! Thomas Family Winery 208 East 2nd Street Madison, In 47250 Remember... a whole lot of hoot, and not much nanny!

Halloooo, fellow Salterinos!
The new EP is out, and has been debuted to thunderous applause (by the cicadas at least!) at the Ky Highland Ren Faire! Work continues on the full length, which should be ready in a couple of weeks. The EP sounds great, and the songs and mixes are different than what will arrive on the full length. Kitty and I have been workin like mad! So if you want a copy of High Barbaree, shoot me a message, and I'll ship (haha- get it?) you a copy. A Noggin of Rum is still available as well.
Anyway, the Faire is going great, and hopefully I will be in Richmond KY at the new irish pub "The Paddy Wagon" soon. Keep posted!
ps- If you haven't been listening to the Renaissance Festival Music podcast, you should be! Not only is there great music, but your's truly is winning some listener appreciation contests! You can find it on iTunes or here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/mage/renfest
Arrrggg!

Current mood: complacent
Well, those of you who did not come to the Winery yesterday missed a rare ould time.
The wan one and I arrived early, around 6pm, and the place was ALREADY beginning to fill up. The room was filled with the scent of Steve’s delicious corned beef and slow cooked cabbage. We dropped guitars, and RAN to the back, loading up plates of grub with onions, mustard, and good brown bread besides. Steve had laid in a stock of ale, and we slaked it with Guiness and porter, as the song says. A little cheese plate and some cider helped it all down too.
So now we’re ready, and the Tinkers take the stage! An hour of laughs, "quiz show" questions for prizes, and delightful traditional music ensued, all started off with 2 roaring bagpipe tunes!!
Soon enough it was our turn. The place was packed and humming (as was I! ) and we rushed off into Botany Bay. Despite some mid set laryngitis from yours truly (saved by the timely intervention of the wan one with toddy), it went off nearly hitchless.
Then the finale- and oh was it sublime. With the Ragged Arse Tinkers in tow (a free Jack Salt cd to anyone who can tell me what movie that name comes from), we sang about the sea, our loves ones (right, wan one? ), ould Ireland, and at last took our parting.
Truly a St Patrick’s Day kickoff to remember. So as we head into the day itself, know that I’ve lifted a glass for ya, sang three songs to yer health, and wish you the best.
Slainte!

Well, at last the snow is almost melted, and the weather begins to turn balmy. As warmth creeps back into the air, and the snowdrops and irises begin to bloom, one recalls other halcyon days, and begins to look forward to that delightful rite of spring involving... GREEN BEER! Or, more specifically, St. Patrick’s Day. And the countdown has indeed begun- this Saturday my pal and fellow gander and I will be ranting and roaring at our friend Steve’s place in Madison IN, the ever delightful Thomas Family Winery. And, while they don’t actually have beer (green or otherwise) they DO have delightful wine and CIDER. Mmmm.... cider. There’ll be dancing and singing, and you’d better believe we’ll make the rafters roar! So I hope to see everyone this Saturday, in Madison Indiana (208 East Second St. to be exact). www.thomasfamilywinery.us Slainte! (Jack actually doesn’t hold with green beer- make it black, stiff, and plentiful)

Current mood: chipper
Hello friends, and welcome to my new MySpace page!!
I have been getting flak for not having any kind of web presence for Jack Salt. For a long time, I didn't worry about it, as Jack was merely a side thing I did for Faire. Well, now he's taken over. The side thing has become the main thing, and I find that he is a convenient umbrella for the other projects I do as well, like the Wild Geese. So Jack Salt I am, and Jack Salt I'll be. Long live the Salt, says I!
I will, hopefully, be more diligent with updating this page than I have been my other blog type places. Look for upcoming gigs, news, new samples of songs, etc. here. In the meantime- slainte!
I'm off for a grog.
