I was just doing a little compilation of some of the press and radio we've managed to get so far. Not bad I reckon. I particularly like the Last Broadcast one at the bottom. 'the birth of a truly great artist'. I've always secretly compared myself favourably to the likes of Beethoven and Michelangelo. It's gratifying finally to see the rest of the world catching up.

Check out G2 Studios, where dreams take flight.

Well thanks for asking.

You can get both my albums from the following places:

www.neilmcsweeney.com/shop.html

www.itunes.com/neilmcsweeney

Record Collector
233 Fulwood Rd
Sheffield
S10 3BA
Tel: 0114 266 8439
www.myspace.com/recordcollector1978

Downloads are available from a number of different sites, you don't have to use iTunes. Try www.neilmcsweeney.bandcamp.com - you can see the lyrics there too.

Obviously, if you can get a copy from a friend, or a free download, I'd much rather you hear it than not. However, if you like it, please bear in mind that my budget for the next album is only the money I can raise from selling the existing two (plus gigs, PRS etc).

If you want to hear more, good news, you will. If you'd rather I didn't record it in my bedroom then you know what you need to do. Kind thanks to those who already have.

Here are a couple of reviews.

One for the Sheffield launch of Shoreline:

And one for the album:

Neil McSweeney: Shoreline 4/5One internet forum calls Neil McSweeney “the most miserable man alive”, another calls him “the Sheffielder most likely to kill himself”. Well, if it takes misery to create music of such poignancy then so be it.“Folk singers” are two a penny these days but Sheffield’s little- known McSweeney is the genuine article. With a voice not unlike James Taylor’s he can hold the listener spellbound because he appears to live the words and feelings rather than just perform them. The lovely Glencoe and Rope To Hang are cases in point. Highly recommended. RS

But I'm much more interested to hear what YOU think.

Get the record here:

or here:

And perhaps come on down to a show.

Then you'll be able to make up your own mind.

Right

This show will be running a little earlier than originally planned meaning that instead of the scheduled appearance by Wilful Missing, I'll be kicking things off myself with a short acoustic set starting just before 8pm. Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers will take to the stage about twenty past eight and I'll be back with the band for our headline set around 9.20. We'll be wrapping things up before 10.30pm.

Look forward to seeing you on Thursday I hope. If not, hope to see you in London next Fri at The Luminaire (16 Oct).

It's nearly time to send out into the world the follow up to Remember To Smile. It's been rather a long journey from the early sessions for this record back in December 2007. More details of my second album will be available soon but in the meantime I'd like to draw your attention to the LAUNCH PARTIES I've got lined up. Both full headline sets with my new band line up. Both with great special guest acts on the bill, shortly to be announced. And both at great venues.

8 October 2009: THE PLUG, Sheffield TICKETS HERE

16 October 2009: THE LUMINAIRE, London TICKETS HERE

It would be lovely if you could join us to help me celebrate getting this particular monkey off my back.

I wanted quickly to share with you the music of a chap called Teitur (you may already be familiar). His latest record 'The Singer' is a very lovely piece of work, in my humble. It's a little odd in places and won't be for everyone (which is as it should be). But perhaps it's for you. Some of it reminds me of dEUS without the distortion. www.myspace.com/teitur On top of the general recommendation, I've managed to wangle my new band line-up a support slot for his Sheffield show at The Plug on 28 May. We're just about up and running now but not yet gig hardened so getting a few low-key ones under our belt while the mixes for the new record are finalised. It's a Thursday night which means an early start. You'll need to get there by 7:30pm if you want to catch us. Tickets Wherever you are though, if you're within striking distance of one of this guy's shows I reckon you should go along. I've got a good feeling. Love Nx

Message me if you fancy a show in the centre of Sheffield this Sunday 6th April featuring myself, Dave Woodcock and Little Lost David.

David is launching his new E.P. in a slightly unorthodox venue.

If you're around and want to come, get in touch.

Cheers
