Been home from the UK tour for a couple of weeks, still getting caught up. Renee took hundreds of photos, I've posted a few.
It was an incredible experience, 9 cities in 3 countries. I logged about 1500 miles on the opposite side of the road with the steering wheel on the opposite side of the car - no worries, no incidents...some of the beautiful sights were Caerfilly Castle in Cardiff, Wales - the Tower Of London was an awesome day, so much to see and do there - Nottingham Castle - and we fulfilled a personal dream to visit Stonehenge, which is so cool on so many levels.
The shows went great. Only one disgruntled fan out of thousands (he expected to see KEEL and ended up finding out it was a Ron Keel acoustic tour - I thought we made that clear in all the promotion and advertising and on all the web sites). The response was awesome, thanks to all the fans for their support, their smiles, for singing along and enjoying the good times with me - the best thing about the whole trip were the multitudes of wonderful people we got to meet and hang out with, everyone was so cool. Great people make good times, and I sure had a blast on this tour. Thanks to Y&T, who have been friends and tour mates for 27 years now - looking forward to doing it again, and best of luck with the new album. Jonathan, call us a cab...

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - SEPTEMBER 2009KEEL has signed with FRONTIERS RECORDS, one of the elite labels in Hard Rock and Melodic Rock, and will release two albums simultaneously in January 2010. The band announced their reunion last November, and enjoyed appearances at major summer festivals such as Rocklahoma, South Texas Rock Festival, the Mid West Rock Fest, and the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland, in addition to sold-out headline shows in Hollywood and Phoenix. The energy and excitement of these tour dates spawned a surge of creative activity, resulting in an album's worth of new material. This album, entitled "Streets Of Rock & Roll," is the first new KEEL recording in twenty years. KEEL promises this new release will continue in the tradition of their previous efforts - fist-pumping crowd-pleasing hard rock anthems fueled by screaming vocals and driven by powerful guitars. The project is being produced by Pat Regan (Deep Purple, KISS, Warrant etc.) and will feature guest appearances by Jaime St. James (Black N Blue) and Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) who is also producing and recording Ron's lead vocal sessions. Frontiers Records will also release "The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition," exactly 25 years after this classic album first hit the streets. This official reissue will be digitally remastered and will feature a brand new recorded version of the title track, which is even louder and heavier than the original. "The Right To Rock (Reunion Version)" features an all-star vocal chorus, and the band is also inviting fans everywhere to sing on the track: you can download a sample chorus on KEEL's MySpace, add your voice to the mix, send the band an MP3, and these will be mixed in to the actual recording of this timeless classic. For details, visit the KEEL web site www.keelband.com and the KEEL MySpace www.myspace.com/keelband. The band wishes to express their thanks to everyone at Frontiers Records for their support and belief in KEEL. Frontiers is firmly established at the forefront in this genre, having successfully released projects from Journey, Styx, Tesla, Dokken, Winger and many more, and KEEL is proud to be a part of their catalog and roster. We’re doing something that’s never been done before – using the internet to let our fans actually sing with us on our new version of “The Right To Rock!”
“The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition” will be released on January 20th, 2010, exactly 25 years to the day since it originally hit the streets, and we've recorded a brand new version of the title track for inclusion in this historic release - and we want to give KEELaholics everywhere the opportunity to put your voices on it.
All you have to do is send us an MP3 of you singing the title chorus line, “The Right To Rock,” and we’ll compile the best of what we receive and insert them into our brand new version of this song.
It’s easy – if you have a microphone for your computer and some simple recording software, download the reference mix on our MySpace profile which has a space for you to sing in. Try to sing in tune and in time, or just scream your guts out like I do!
There are a lot of free programs available that are easy to use – we suggest the Beta version of Audacity which is available at http://audacity.soundforge.net
Some of you may have more sophisticated recording gear at home, and that’s fine – just get to work and send us your best “Right To Rock” and we’ll put it on the new album. Send MP3’s to reunion@keelentertainment.com by October 1st. By sending your MP3 you are agreeing to allow KEEL to use your voice on this recording.
What are you waiting for – get ready to belt it out and shout out your Right To Rock!

Ryan Cunningham is an 8 year old little bundle of fun from Dunedin, Florida. Ryan is a huge fan of 80's music... he can't stand hearing any other. He is really quite the rocker! Ryan was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a horrible disease that attacks the lungs, preventing them from clearing out mucus and disturbs the digestive track. Ryan is forced to take more than 30 pills a day and is often forced to drink protein shakes. Ryan has frequent stays at the hospital and has to go through daily respiratory therapy. Ryan dreams of attending Rocklahoma and meeting all his favorite rock heroes. Catch the Fever Music Festivals, Bigg Time Entertainment, Inc., Just Having Fun Productions, Great White, Nelson & Keel are going to make this happen. Bigg Time Entertainment, Inc. is proud to be coordinating this venture. Just Having Fun Productions, Great White & Nelson are graciously providing the airline tickets for Ryan and his parents Dave & Cathy. Catch the Fever Music Festivals is kindly providing the hotel accommodations and all access passes.
On behalf of KEEL, Dean Guitars has donated a black Dean ML guitar for auctioning.
We are auctioning the guitar, signed by Great White, Nelson, Kix & Keel as well as others performing at Rocklahoma to raise money for miscellaneous expenses of Cunningham’s journey to Rocklahoma as well as Cystic Fibrosis Foundation www.cff.org. The auction is available for biddings at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120436414632&viewitem=&salenotsupported The guitar was generously donated by DEAN GUITARS as per KEEL's request. If you wish to donate towards Ryan’s dream of attending Rocklahoma and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation you can Paypal your donations to RocklahomaForRyan@att.net

We are gathered in North Hollywood to begin sessions for the new KEEL album tomorrow morning - to say the least we're fired up and really excited about this new project.
Shortly after announcing the KEEL Reunion last November, we made the decision to include a new album release in our plans. At the time we had no new songs, and discussed the possibility of coming up with a few new tunes and re-recording some of our favorite KEEL compositions. Almost immediately, new songs started to come to life through our collaborative efforts and we ended up with an entire album's worth of new material that we are confident will fulfill our musical passions while giving our fans - and a whole new generation of KEELaholics - a collection of songs that we can all enjoy.
While we are re-visiting a couple of timeless classics to include as bonus tracks on the new album and the 25th Anniversary Edition of "The Right To Rock," we are tracking 12 brand-new KEEL songs guaranteed to satisfy your rock n roll hunger. Here for the first time is the track listing for the new KEEL album, which will be called "STREETS OF ROCK N ROLL":
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING COME HELL OR HIGH WATER STREETS OF ROCK N ROLL PUSH & PULL BROTHERS IN BLOOD HOLD STEADY LIVE DOES ANYBODY BELIEVE NO MORE LONELY NIGHTS THE DEVIL MAY CARE LOOKIN' FOR A GOOD TIME GIMME THAT
The album will be co-produced and mixed by ace producer/engineer Pat Regan (Ritchie Blackmore, Warrant, Billy Sheehan, etc.). My vocals will be engineered, recorded, and produced by Paul Shortino. We'll be posting updates from the sessions as often as time permits, and plan to offer a free download of a brand new KEEL song later this summer.
I promise the musical direction of this album is this: straight ahead classic hard rock anthems - strong, powerful guitar-driven rock meant to capture the spirit of our genre, the excitement of our reunion, and our love for our music and our audience. We look forward to sharing this music with you, and we thank our fans, friends, families and everyone on our staff and crew for the inspiration to make this the greatest KEEL album of all time.

Thanks to all the friends and fans who helped me make through the M3 Festival in Maryland last weekend - when all was said and done, I had a blast! No excuses, no regrets - but I was getting over a cold, and combined with the exhaustion of the previous week and the 18 hour ordeal to get from Vegas to NY to Baltimore (flights delayed/cancelled), my normally-dependable pipes were suffering and swollen, and I was what we call 'vocally challenged.' This has only happened a couple times in my long career and there are few feelings worse...as I said, no excuses & the show must go on. So I dug deep, and relied on my desire to have a good time with our audience. We did have fun, and from the fan feedback many of you did also. I apologize that I couldn't deliver on the level which I expect from myself and I really appreciate the support and votes of confidence from our people.
But you don't have to listen to my scratchy voice in order to enjoy the photos, which clearly show us having a great time! There are many good shots now on line:

We are getting ready to unleash this show upon Las Vegas and other cities - if you haven't already, please go to http://myspace.com/vegasrockstarztribute and ADD TO FRIENDS.
