a tape delay system
its in a pretty rough stage right now but it works.
has some bad kinks in the quality atm but i think its fixable, as it sounded good earlier with a different strand of tape.
there is a whole circuit for mix controls to be built for this.
edit:http://www. reidscones. com/up/tapedelaysample_1. wav
it's nothing fancy but it shows it works and listen to that lovely gruffness!
the reference track is something in progress.
the old man river at the end is from using Mozart's Requiem for the tape, i just decided to take a whole tape and put it in both. much more working space and plays easier.
figured requiem would be fun to fuck up.sorry for such poor quality photos

as you can see, 2 personal cassette players melded together, with 2 grafted tapes. it's not yet in a loop of tape, just a short reel.
you see going across is 2 lines, 1 comes from the first players output to the main line out, as a dry mix
the 2nd there is loose for now, will be part of a feedback loop. shares control with main out but the circuit will fix that
individual power supplies, would be able (with a looped tape) to play on both sides for a sample loop.

the side here where the dry out comes from and the input goes in.

on this side is where all those wires come together in the same out jack. the circuit will simplify this to 1 line and take care of the rest and add more control to the mixing.
in further development i hope to factor in a control for the servos so i can alter the speed of the echo
im getting some problems with the tension of the tape and hope i can get a looped version running fluiidly
