Coldcut's Matt Black is in Copenhagen for the Climate Conference and has been having a fun old time with Police actions and Parties both.
He thinks it's well worth signing this http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_copenhagen/

It's an online petition to demand a fair and strong deal on Climate. Well quick to sign and they're an effective lobby group. If you loved Timber, do it right now. You know it makes sense.

Coldcut and the Unionistas have completed the 2009 Energy Union Tour. It was suitably amazing, and thanks to all who came and made it so. Sziget Festival in Budapest, Bratlisava and Berlin were particularly rocking. By dope demand, we're putting some sections up on YouTube hot off the editing block. Here's the first, an electro/minimal track from Alvo Noto with audiovisual mix from 'Celebration', the first movement of the show. More sections to follow.

Coldcut are in for this brand new piece of SOLID POSITIVE ECO ACTIVISM, see http://www.1010uk.org

Along with a growing bunch of others, we've commited to cut our CO2 emissions by 10 in 2010. Are you up for it?

The project's from the creators of the 'Age of Stupid' , headed by Franny Armstrong who made the seminal 'McLibel' film. 'Age of Stupid' was a bit doom and gloom but has got a lot of profile and they're using that to launch 1010 which is about what we can do right now. After the Big Ask, once again the UK is providing some new ideas on ecoaction.

This mixes well with Energy Union,  which is a new Coldcut project we've been touring Europe with. This is planned to come to the UK next year, so we should be able to support 1010 campaign from Energy Union as we have totally the same aim. http://www.energyunion.eu

Coldcut's Energy Union


The Energy Union show is an all-new Coldcut  production - a ground-breaking piece of live activist cinema.

The music is  a 'Journeys by DJ' style approach: a genre-tripping montage of musical delights woven together by the acknowledged Ninja masters of the eclectic electric mash-up.  The music features an orchestral element, a score performed by a live string section, adding a human dimension to the hi-tec funkativity.

The visuals -a mix of borrowed, contributed footage and custom animation - use the music mix as a foundation to build a narrative in 4 sections:
Celebration, Caution, Solutions, Action. Coldcut as AV Daddies transmogrified techniques from the DJ world and created scratch montage.  The visuals will be presented on a custom giant black screen, this being part of the 'Project Black' initiative: a number of techniques to achieve a projection effect  beyond the screen.

The aim is to vibe people up with a super positive and inspirational new approach to ecopolitics using next gen audiovisual tricknology.

Many of the Energy Union gigs are free /subsidised as the project is EU sponsored! Finally, a decent use of your Eurotaxes... so this is a unique chance to catch both Coldcut brothers in Europe this summer ...join the party, save the world and get Energised.
