Check out reviews of La Pieta's newest release, Inside Out...
A nice, sweet little five-song EP from Brooklyn's La Pieta touches your indie pop heart with simple but smart songs. Flitting from a slight Rainer Maria dynamic in the call and response vocals, but with lighter melodics…to a Throwing Muses type of heartbeat... Its heartfelt, harmonic, and guitar bright, but still in tune with the dark. Bring on an LP! ––The Big Takeover
If you liked Madder Rose, you will like La Pieta. Too short at only five songs, the EP's sound is that of a sweeter, higher-pitched Kim Deal singing slow indie pop over simple guitar and bass lines, complemented by subtle harmonies and counterpoint. The hooks will get you humming, the lyrics are wistful and lovely ("broken glass sparkles / stardust falling"), and I LOVE that the cover art refers to the "mustached man on the couch from the party last night." ––By Meredith at 75 or Less
This EP seemed pretty fabulous to me in the way that it walked a line between the guilty pleasure of reminiscence and the responsibility of not falling into that timewalk trap that would label them as also-rans. The music is a wistful blend of personable pop…Rachel's voice has this extremely clear and emotional quality but it isn't over the top like some other indie popsters. This is a really beautiful EP and highly recommended. ––By Rabbit of Shmat's Reviews
La Pieta create pure indie pop that contains a magical innocence and hidden darkness, cunning in its eerie beauty. Resplendent with call and response boy-girl vocals, pristine guitar licks reminiscent of the best of Unrest, wavering basslines that carry the melody and laid-back drumming, these songs weave a trail of absolute sun-soaked bliss and secret grins. ––Download.com
