Alreet?

High time for an update, just before Santa arrives and plops tons of disappointing presents down yer chimney. . . first off, bighugemassive THANKS to everyone who attended the recent Tempelhof and Mushi Mushi gigs - Tempelhof were frigging awesome and a ton of you turned up to wish the Mushis farewall in their final ever live show, so it's all smiles at this end on that front. Except that Mushi Mushi are no more, which is rubbish. Boo!

The Mushi Mushi show was also the first time that you could get yer hands on their first and last album Sequins Save Lives, which is available to buy from our website NOW for immediate dispatch! It is also outselling Susan Boyle's new offering in Newcastle from RPM, Beatdown and alt.vinyl (for the same price as the web site - a bargain £6.99!), if you like speaking to nice record shop staff. Rather than bombard you with creative prose that we'll be no doubt repeating ourselves with in the New Year, check out the Mushis myspace to listen to some tracks and feel free to download some tracks from the album from the Chicken EP page too (we still have some 7"s left, if you fancy it). Mint.

For those that were fortunate enough to see Tempelhof, the good news is that we will bring them to the UK again early next year, so keep an eye out on this 'ere site for details. Their album We Were Not There for the Beginning, We Won't Be There for the End has been garnering the plaudits ("a soothingly beautiful collection ****" AU mag; "Berlin recalls Bowie's Low. . . high praise indeed. . . a great soundtrack to discovering exotic new places" Artrocker; "lush and gentle pieces of restrained beauty" Organ; "Emotions one might be feeling: lost, sad, excited, loving, mellow, sleepy, wired—the album constantly contradicts itself, and that is just what makes this Templehof work so interesting" Silent Ballet; etc.) and if you haven't indulged yourself yet, why not check it out on their album page?

(By the way, we're now taking orders for the Tempelhof Leaving Home / Cage hand-painted 12" for immediate shipping! Class eh?)

So there you have it. As well as the above, look out for releases by d_rradio (June-ish), The Big Oaks (honestly), and Warm Digits next year. Cheers to everybody who has attended one of our shows or bought a record from us, it's all very much appreciated, and remember, every time a bell rings an angel gets it's wings.

Have a good Xmas, aye?

Crash bang wallop what an update!

It's been six weeks since our last missive, so there's a bumper super-grande batch of shiz-nit to inform you about.

FIRST! The spafftastic new album by Italian duo Tempelhof We Were Not There From The Beginning, We Wont Be There For The End will, come this Monday, be placed on the shelves on various independent record shops nationwide (the ones that haven't closed down yet, like) for you lovely folk to exchange for pounds sterling. For your hard-earned dosh, you shall receive ten tracks of undiluted awesome and a soupçon of wonderment.

These people have written nice things about the album, which is alreet by us, so here's some quotes to twist your limbs to buy. Saves us coming up with encouraging superlatives, like.

"Expect cymbal crashes, samples warping into softly spoken, whispered, barely sung vocals, downtempo beats and subterranean echoes. Expect more than this, expect to confront your darker side because it will confront you. Embrace the darkness. It's a long night and Tempelhof are snuffing out all the candles until it's just you, them, and a whole lot of psychotherapy." Unpeeled
"Emozionale. Emozionante. Emotivamente complesso. Magistral 'Berlin' and 'The Black Calypso'. Magistrali 'Berlin' e 'The Black Calypso'. Un piccolo passo "oltre", un piccolo passo ancora e vedremo molto da vicino la parola "perfezione". [***1/2]" Nerds Attack
"Here's another fabulous release from Newcastle based Distraction Records" The Crack

"Tempelhof debut with a collection of idm/shoegazing tracks, a series of peaceful sound-suites, often stunning (the album's title song) going from the cathartic coordinates of M83 to Murcof. . . the main theme of this album: solitude (Song For Lily), mournful beauty (Berlin), - it's like a perfect soundtrack for watching your wounds bleeding. Not a happy record, you are warned." Komakino

You get the picture. It's ace, whizzo and skill. And for those who cannot wait til Monday or prefer to have the postie do your dirty work, it's now available to buy for immediate dispatch for only Ł6.99 (UK!) That's about two pints of Peroni, that. Bargain. Go to the album page, and check out the album tracks for proof. And here's another track to make your mouth water, Song For Lily:
Song for Lily
(What no free downloads? Thing is, right (and being brutally honest with you lot), we've just sorted out a deal that should see our stuff get on the likes of Spotify, Boomkat, Bleep etc, and that should bring in a little bit more cash to ensure that we're still capable of physically releasing vinyl and CDs. However, we're not ones to go back on what we've been preaching, so for those of you who want to hear some Tempelhof goodness, send us a mail with the subject 'Gis some Tempelhof!' and we'll sort you out. This just means that you have to work a bit harder to get our stuff rather than use Google (smiley face). And, yeah, feel free to spread the word and the music if you like it - it's the word of mouth that leads to people buying our records and its the only way that we can survive!)

FIRST-AND-A-HALF! To supplement this release, the boys 'hof (as they're not known) will play Newcastle (the real one, not the one under Lyme), on 29th November at the Head Of Steam! Woot! They're especially coming over from Italy to play this, so please make it while your while by coming along - it'll be a reet treat from ear t' feet. (Christ.) It's only three quid in, starts at 8pm and support comes from ear-troubling krautrock rhythm 'n' noise no-wave radiophonic dudes Warm Digits and the blissfully brutal, engrossing and estimable post-rock instrumentalists Sona Di with the ever-capable d_rradio behind the ones and twos and the platters that matter. If you're on Facebook, you can stop stalking people and mark yourself as 'Attending' here. Top cock!

SECOND! Speaking of gigs, we bring to you the glum news (if you didn't know already, like) that machine-gun-esque bleep-und-fuzz-und-skreal! combo Mushi Mushi are disbanding and that they will play their final ever show (that's doubling up for the launch party) on December 12th at Cluny 2 in Newcastle. That day will be your first chance to get yer hands on copies of the album Sequins Save Lives which, by all accounts, is a doozy - the following day will see the local release in Newcastle stores RPM, Beatdown and alt.vinyl and our website itself before national and international release sometime in March. S o come along and celebrate one of the best and most unique bands oop north. Facebook page you say? We say have it.

THIRD, FOURTH and FIFTH! as a quick round up:

* We should be getting stocks back in of the original d_rradio album - about a dozen or so - once they're gone, they're gone!

* Those in the US looking for cheaper Distraction stuff could do worse than to check out EAR/Rational for our CDs (no vinyl as yet) - they're going to get our entire back catalogue in as well as future releases, so keep and eye out on that site for the best US prices.

* If anybody is interested in hosting Tempelhof/Necro Deathmort for shows next year (Tempelhof late February/early March, Necro TBD), get in touch!

And that, my friends, is it. A lot to read, so thanks for sticking in with us. Bye then!

Akin to Dutch wordplay-und-beats maestros King Bee, we're back by dope demand. . .

Busy, us? Aye, we sure are. Hot on the heels of our killer This Beat Is Necrotronic release (not got a copy yet? Do something about it) sees Tempelhof's first album We Were Not There For The Beginning, We Won't Be There For The End, and what a bona fide stone-cold killer of a release this is. Honestly, it's the tits. For those of you not familiar with Tempelhof, they're a duo from Mantova, Italy, and their stock trade is master purveyors of fine-ass electronic post-rock. Reference points? Well, we suppose they might sound a bit like M83 without the Tangerine Dream bits, sort of like Maps, rather like The Album Leaf with TV On The Radiohead-ish vocals.

But, y'know, that just does them an injustice really. Tempelhof are carving out a finely-shaped niche of their own thankyouverymuch. Taking inspiration from Bologna film library archives (they regularly perform live soundtracks of the black-and-white and crudely-coloured early-modern cinema experiments), loneliness, solitude and William Burroughs, the album features ten two tracks of lush downtempo beauty. All tracks display Tempelhof at their best: downpours of cymbal-like hiss and mournful keys, shuffling beats, low impassioned - dynamic but not overwrought - vocals, with an array of crashing rhythms and mechanical shifts and slices. Subtle, effortless and, frankly, awesome.

And guess what? You could be the lucky owner of this album if you pre-order the little sucker at the Distraction site! Wowee, and indeed, zowee. Their album page has a jukebox on it, which means that you can check out all of the tracks in full (no 30 or 60 second previews here, matey), but here's one in particular that we dig. It's called Berlin and if you don't like it, well, take yourself of this mailing list right now because we don't understand people like you.

And the cost of the album if you pre-order? Just £6.99 UK, £7.99 Europe, and £8.99 for the rest of the planet. At such a measly pittance, we are surely spoiling you.

We still have copies of Necro Deathmort's This Beat Is Necrotronic that are just begging to be held, heard and enjoyed. Mosey on down down deeper and down to their page for the gen for it's a behemoth, to be sure. And we still have copies available of d_rradio's Leaves album on Symbolic Interaction, but not many, so now is the time to stump up the coin to indulge yourself in gorgeous drone if you haven't already done so (by the way, Tears of Abraham's Sacrificing the Text is now sold out, and we have one - opened but unplayed - copy left of d_rradio's self-titled offering; the first person who PayPal's us four quid gets it).

That's about it, and remember, if you don't have fun tonight, at least Wang Chung tonight.

Easy,

Hello there,

Just a quick one to let y'all know that Necro Deathmort's album This Beat Is Necrotronic is out this week from all good record stores!

Here's the skinny:

"[the duo] blend low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" Zero Tolerance

"I'm sold" Losing Today (link)

"[an] album that every death metal idiot was too clunky, too loud and too lumpen to make, this is the album that Nick Cave should play at home" Unpeeled

"For fans of acts such as Earth, Growing and Jesu, This Beat is Necrotronic is likely to be a hugely enjoyable purchase. . . a splendid debut turned all the way up to eleven, and one which deserves your attention." Bearded Magazine (link)

"If you're looking for an aural definition of the word "uncompromising" then this is it." The Crack (link)

"All in all, the album is made up of dark, twisted brilliance. (4/5)" NARC Magazine.

"This Beat is Necrotronic is a wonderful album. This music is as hard as nails and as deep as it is loud." Buzzin' Music (link)

"Lazy-rock sprawls and weedy attempts at harnessing lommian riffage" Rock Sound (the one with Paramore on the cover and a Billy Talent poster in the middle)

"One minute it's Sunn O))), the next it's Squarepusher, then it's all a bit like the run-out groove of a Philip Jeck record. None of these things are bad individually but I was never a man for raspberry and bacon sandwiches." Vice

Convinced yet? Visit our and Necro Deathmort's myspace and hear for yerself.

Ahoy!

Okay folks, time for some news from everybody's favourite po-faced microlabel (i.e. us).

First up is that Necro Deathmort CD This Beat Is Necrotronic (DIST19). Not only does the title kick ass, so does the music and the artwork. Described as an "album that every death metal idiot was too clunky, too loud and too lumpen to make, this is the album that Nick Cave should play at home" by the good good people at Unpeeled, this release unleashes it's yelping weeping clods of meat like a bastard. It's available to order NOW through the Distraction shoppe, and worldwide via your lovely indie record shop (via Cargo and p*dis) on August 31st. The Sound projector has a photo of the album artwork so you can see for yourself just how shitkicking it really is. There's streamed music from the album up on our extremely corporate last.fm page, but stay tuned for the requisite mp3 downloads in a few weeks time.

After that, October finally sees the release of Tempelhof's Leaving Home / Cage (DIST15) 12" vinyl, and, in November, their album We Were Not There For The Beginning. We Won't Be There For The End. (DIST16). We waxed lyrical over these in our last mailout, but for the unclued, their stuff is mournful, sparse, introspective and dynamic, and these releases demonstrate what these guys do best: emotional, subtle passionate music without so much of the po-faced navel gazing. In a perfect world, you'll be hearing a lot more of these guys, rather than another humdrum Sigur Ros outing or another plateful of piss of the type that Jason Pierce cronks out these days. Seriously, these are awesome.

Speaking of the vinyl, each one of the 250 vinyls has been painstakingly hand-painted by Polly Bound over a period of 18 months, forming a monochrome painting of rural North-East countryside. The entire work will be on display - yes, all 25 feet by 10 feet of it - as part of the Invitation art exhibition taking place at Hanger 51 on Lime Street (opposite the Cluny), in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, from 18th July to 24th July, with the launch night taking place on the opening night from 6pm to 8pm. See you there?

After those little doozies, February sees the national release of the Mushi Mushi album Sequins Save Lives (DIST18), and March the release of d_rradio's Parts (DIST17). More news on them soon!

Speaking of d_rradio, we now have copies in stock of their 2xCD set on Symbolic Interaction Leaves, and what a beautiful listen it is. It only costs £7.99 post-paid from us, we only have about twenty copies, and when they're gone, they're gone!

Just to briefly mention some worthy gigs featuring Distraction Records folk (in particular NARC Fest in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle is quite well-represented by us) in the next few weeks:

24th July: LONDON, The Unicorn: Necro Deathmort w/ Ivy's Itch + others. FREE
18th July: NEWCASTLE, Cluny: Distraction Sound System providing the tunes between The Twilight Sad, Piney Gir & The Age Of Reason, Soundtracks For A B-Movie, Frankie & The Heartstrings, and Fuzzy Lights. FREE.
18th July: NEWCASTLE, Cluny 2: Lianne Hall + d_rradio w/ We Are The Physics, Les Cox (sportifs), Chippewa Falls, The Cornshed Sisters. FREE
18th July: NEWCASTLE, The Tanners: Moira Stewart w/ The School, Milky Wimpshake, The Bubble Project, Pea Sea. FREE.
18th July: NEWCASTLE, Star and Shadow Cinema: Dressed In Wires w/ Khunnt, BONG, Plum, British Lichen Society. FREE.
24th July: NEWCASTLE, Cumberland Arms: Distraction Sound System w/ Warm Digits, Quack Quack, Rachel Lancaster, £3
15th August: NEWCASTLE, The Tyne, Moira Stewart + others, FREE
29th August: NEWCASTLE, Cathode w/ Joker + others, FREE
25th September: SEGRATE (MILAN), ITALY @ MAGNOLIA PARADE 2009, Tempelhof w/ Peaches, Mr. Oizo, and 30-odd others. See website for ticket details.

Finally a request. If you're going to send us a demo through the mail (or, as I suspect as happened, went through the Unsigned Guide sending CDRs to any and every record label in there without bothering to at least look at the website to see what they're about), at least ensure that you putting enough postage on the envelope, rather than just a second class stamp. That way, its a little easier to put up with listening to your gash little ska band, without paying the post office £1.17 for the privilege. The Amnesiacs from Liverpool, you truly suck.

Easy now,
distraction.x.

Hello there pop pickers!

Yep, it's been absolutely AGES since we last gave an update, not that we've been resting on our laurels or anything. On the contrary, we've got releases upon releases piled up and we want you to listen to 'em, but we're perfectionists and want everything to be tip-top and spick and span before it gets unleashed upon you all. And, typically, all of the releases seem to be ready all at once, which is VERY CONVENIENT INDEED. Not that we're moaning like.

Anyway, enuff guff, onto Distraktion aktion. The first release upcoming getting us very excited at Distraction Towers is the speaker-kicking noisefest from Necro Deathmort. This Beat Is Necrotronic (DIST19) comes out on CD with limited edition packaging from WT Nelson at Thumbprint Press (those of you that have the Marzuraan 'Five Years Of Fck All' CD on At War With False Noise or seen the Bastard Noise packaging will know what to expect here), and what a bloody joy to look at it is. The artwork comes courtesy of the scarily-talented Dominic Hailstone, who produced the Mogwai BatcatIsis Holy Tears videos and did the creature effects on that Aphex Twin Come To Daddy video.

and
All of which would threaten to overshadow the actual music on the CD itself, but thankfully that's awesome too. The boys Matthew Rozeik and AJ Cookson have served up a tasty treat of jittering, skuttering brutal electronics, Earth-style drones (back when they had balls), creamy hiss, turntablist noise pedal effect antics, crushing guitars, elegant ballroom atmospherics, to full-on balls-out full decaying post-apocalyptic doom. Nice one! Honestly, this is fantastic, and we're chuffed to bits to be putting this out. This is the Entroducing of doom music, not that we're ones for hyperbole or owt. Watch out for the FREE download of this soon.

We are taking pre-orders on this one NOW, and it's limited to 500 copies only, so be quick or be dead, as Bruce Dickinson once aptly warbled.

After that, it's Tempelhof's one-sided individually-painted numbered 12" vinyl in a hand-printed sleeve (phew!) It's a two tracker - Leaving Home and Cage (DIST15 - out October, fingers crossed), and, indeed, each and every single vinyl has been individually painted over a period of a year by the fair hands of Polly Bound, and if you put the 250 vinyls together, it forms a 25x10 foot monochrome painting of rural countryside in North-East England. Of course, if you have house with a 27' high ceiling, this is the perfect opportunity to fill one of your walls with some cracking art.
Mind you, even if you only get the one copy, it's still a great-looking slab of wax, with two tracks of perfectly formed lush downtempo beauty. We love Tempelhof, us. Their music is at once mournful, sparse, introspective and dynamic, and these two tracks demonstrate what these guys do best: emotional, subtle passionate music without so much of the po-faced navel gazing. In fact, we love them so much we asked them to do us an album, and thus We Were Not There For The Beginning. We Won't Be There For The End. (DIST16) is getting a release at the end of the year, a few weeks after the single release (by the way, neither two tracks on the single are on the album, so don't think think you can wait for the CD, bucko.) Christ, this album is incredible. You can check out some of the tracks on their myspace, including the title track that so widescreen, dramatic and gorgeous, we could quite honestly listen to it for the rest of our lives without being bored.

And after that? Well, there's the finally~! finished~! Mushi Mushi Sequins Save Lives CD Album (DIST18) and the sublime d_rradio Parts CD/LP/MC (DIST17), that we might be able to squeeze in at the back end of the year, but it's honestly looking like the start of 2010 at this rate. We also have something very special planned for DIST20 (not saying nowt yet though) and something very special needs in the Big Oaks 'Monster Turd' CD album (DIST21). Probably next year at this rate an' all.

By the way, d_rradio have a bloody bloody amazing album out on our good friend Kentaro Togawa's Symbolic Interaction label called Leaves. Recently Norman Records' Album Of The Week, we have a limited amount of albums to sell via this here website, so you can pre-order now and get them when we get them in (about two weeks time, I reckon).

Anyway, we've rabbited on enough, and we have a pile of Surgeon to listen to. So, take it uneasy 'til next time chaps and chapesses.

Alreet?

A few weeks late, but before we kick off with the wanton hard sell, we at Distraction would like to thank everybody who bought a Distraction record, attended a Distraction event, or simply spread the word about us in 2008; releases-wise we had our most successful year so far and our weekender was the most successful one ever. Whether there will be another one remains to be seen (there won't be one this year). But, aye, anyhow, cheers!

Anyway, we are now adding our own winter sale alongside everybody else's; we've got a hectic release schedule this year, and we need all the space and dosh we can get it to make it happen (especially the dosh; we get our records pressed abroad - not our fault hardly anybody in the UK does custom packaging, before you accuse us of contributing to global climate change - and the pound's dead week so it costs a LOT more to press our records. . .). So! We've knocked tons off ALL our stock, so now's the time to take advantage if you haven't done so already. Get amongst it.

We are now doing the following deals on all Distraction stuff:

  • FOUR 7" vinyls for £7.99 (i.e. Buy three 7" vinyls and get one free!)
  • ALL seven 7" vinyls for £10.99!
  • ALL three d_rradio 7" vinyls for £4.99!
  • TWO 7" vinyls and a CD/12" for £8.99!
  • BOTH d_rradio albums for £8.99!
  • Both d_rradio, Moira Stewart and Summer Night Air albums for £13.99!

Simply PayPal us the dosh at info AT distractionrecords.com with a note saying what you want, and we'll get 'em out pronto. Oh, and by the way, we're always up for record swaps with other like-minded individuals, so get in touch if you've got summit to offer. A recap of our records in stock if you're not already familar (all prices are UK-prices, but non-UK prices have been reduced as well, so click on the links for details). . .

Hello you!

Okay! After an inexplicable week's delay, The Retail Sectors 8" square vinyl lathe 'March Of Incurable Workaholic' / 'Song About A Girl Who Killed Herself Yesterday' is finally out now! You know the crack: with this little doozy you get two tracks about Kentaro Togawa's ironies of life and death in the form of lovely, dramatic instrumental post-rock, and there's only 150 of these little belters, half have already went out via pre-order, so be quick or be dead, as the Maiden once sang.

All copies come with download codes for the 320kps mp3s and .FLAC files, and it will be available in RPM, alt.vinyl and Beatdown in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or online from our preferred retailers rather than the chain stores: Norman Records, Boomkat, CD Baby, or Action Records, or Piccadilly, and here's the video, courtesy of the uber-talented Tsuchiya Takafumi (download an .mp4 - compatible for ipods - of the video here):

Class eh? As is the way with Distraction, we're doing the ol' try-before-you-buy biz-nizz with this one, remember, if you like what you hear, you can buy the extremely-limited vinyl from us. (We've worked out that we're actually selling this for a loss, great hey!)

Our next event is the mighty Kania Tieffer on December 4th! How to describe Kania. . . mmmm. . . how about French-tinged gabba-fried Chicks-on-speed stupid wonky r'n'b'n'electropop? With otter overtones. Yep, it's evident that Kania Tieffer has that niche market sewn up, so why not check her out for yourself at her web site (not that work safe, if your work hates bare breasts), her myspace (definitely worksafe; not for epileptics though), or her free releases on byteburger and Selva Elettrica. It's been scientifically tested: if you go to Kings of Leon at the Arena instead of this, you're a certified cretin.

We finish off by thanking everybody who turned up for the High Places event last Sunday at The Head Of Steam in Newcastle - supports Nathalie Stern and Cathode were as sterling as ever, and High Places were fantastic, especially when the audio cut out five or ten minutes in (thanks to a RUBBISH US to UK voltage converter) and they had to rewire everything through effects pedals and rearrange various bar objects as improv percussion paraphernalia, with the crowd singing along the basslines. Absolute legends! What a special show that was. And among the friendliest people we've ever met! Hopefully they won't be disappointed enough to never return to Newcastle again (yeah yeah, double negative, I know). You can see photos from the show here. We realise that many people may have left to catch the last bus or something; if this applies to you, get in touch with us via e-mail and we'll make amends.

Okay, that's it for this week, take it easy there.

Reet up! Two things you should know about this week.

Firstly, Thrill Jockey's High Places hit the Head of Steam in Newcastle this Sunday! Expect a unique and joyous union of world beat, dance music and underground pop drenched in twitchy psychedelic beat-heavy exotic polyrhythms, perhaps the perfect soundtrack for taking a nice Jacuzzi filled with Um Bongo, or something. It's all grand stuff anyway; why not check them out? Why not indeed? They're bloody tip top, and we're tickled pink to have 'em here. Support comes from Newcastle's don of electronica Cathode (whose new Sparkle Plenty album has been getting repeated plays at the Distraction gaff, hopefully he'll have some on the night), and Nathalie Stern, who's appearance at the Distraction Weekender earlier this year was an highlight for many. Oh, and we have the delightful Summer Night Air Sound System behind the ones and twos, playing the platters the matter. So no excuses! Reserve your place with an advance ticket on 'da list' now!

Need more convincing? Here's a video of High Places performing live at The Fader Sideshow last year:

The day after (November 17th, if you're keeping track) sees The Retail Sectors 8" square vinyl lathe 'March Of Incurable Workaholic' / 'Song About A Girl Who Killed Herself Yesterday' get a release! Kentaro Togawa's tracks about ironies of life and death are split into two tracks of lovely, dramatic instrumental post-rock on this one, and there's only 150 of these little belters, so be quick! All copies come with download codes for the 320kps mp3s and .FLAC files too! This release will be available in RPM, alt.vinyl and Beatdown in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or online from our preferred retailers rather than the chain stores: Norman Records, Boomkat, CD Baby, Action Records, or Rhythm Online, and here's the video, courtesy of the uber-talented Tsuchiya Takafumi (download an .mp4 - compatible for ipods - of the video here):

The single is also available to but from the likes of itunes, Amazon, Napster. . . hey, hang on a sec? Paying for mp3s? Not on our watch, mister: here, here's both tracks, as mp3s, for absolutely nothing at all! Remember though, if you like what you hear, you might want to consider buying the vinyl; its kinda expensive, we know, but we're actually selling these little fellahs for a loss, and all pennies earned for this go towards future releases. (Incidentally, since we first started giving the mp3s away for free with the d_rradio release, we've sold a helluva got more records simply because getting the mp3s out there for nowt enables people who have not heard of our artists before to listen to them and buy the actual physical release if they like it that much. It's so simple, and it works, we don't understand why every label doesn't do it.)

Another event upcoming is Kania Tieffer on December 4th! France's otter-obsessed maiden has a penchant for weird and wonky bastardised r'und'b and electropop and you can catch her on December 4th at The End in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with pointlessly hostile idiot Dressed In Wires and (gulp!) Radgepackets. DJ Search Warrant brings tha' noise too! Word.

That's about it for now. Just to mention that we only have TWO copies left of Tears Of Abraham's 'Sacrificing The Text', SEVEN copies left of the d_rradio album, and THREE copies left of d_rradio remixed - they won't be repressed and it's first come, first served, so if you want a copy, now's the time to buy. One final thingummyjig, those of you looking for bargains, or even an early Xmas stocking filler for the ambient music fan in your life, can get the Summer Night Air CD for a measly TWO QUID from Juno Records. Bonzer.

Take it easy, see you Sunday at the Steamer?
