The Best of Me + You Vol. 1 compiles over 30 exclusive interviews and songs recorded at the Viva Radio's Brooklyn studios between 2007 and 2009 for the station's signature original program. Hosted by the inimitable Tedward, Me + You gives listeners an intimate and often whimsical look at artists that both shy from the spotlight and swarm to it like white on rice.
The Best of Me + You features interviews and songs from true-blooded American rock singer & composer Andrew W.K., French electronic minimalist / sex enthusiast Sebastien Tellier, DIG darlings The Dandy Warhols, brother-sister concept artists The Fiery Furnaces, drone and ambient duo Growing, Memphis rock n' roller Jay Reatard, Columbus Ohio low fi purveyors Times New Viking, legendary punk pioneers The Homosexuals, new school punk torch bearers The Black Lips, Brooklyn frenzied instrumentalists Fiasco, and many many more!
The digital compilation comes with a beautiful 32 page zine documenting the behind-the-scenes hijinx with pictures and insider anecdotes. The compilation is available with purchase of the limited edition Me + You t-shirt or separately for the nice price of $5.00. Pick up your copy today!

SXSW & TOUR COVERAGE

Ladies and Gentlemen, THE HOMOSEXUALS. First they stunned fans and bloggers at SXSW, then they sold out The Echo in LA. As the world  awakens to the brilliance of Bruno Wizard and his new band, we've gathered together just a small portion of the gushing praise that's reverberating across the internet. Just take a look...

THE SKY REPORT

  http://theskyreport.blogspot.com/2009/03/sxsw-day-3-asobi-seksu-cale-parks-city.html

  ...ferocious...

The  Homosexuals worked the crowd into a tizzy with their asymmetrical post-punk.  The lead singer spewed water at the frenzied fans and told stories of his  drug-addled past. His presence was at once comical and intense - a true  performer with gritty vitality.

ARTVOICE

  http://artvoice.com/issues/v8n13/sxsw_music_feature

File  under: “Another band I never thought I’d see.” Postpunk stalwarts the  Homosexuals were in action as main Homo Bruno Wizard and a pickup band tore  through many of this under-appreciated band’s catalog featured on Astral  Glamour (Hyped to Death) the career-spanning three-disc set from 2004.
MIAMI NEW TIMES

The  highligh of the festival for me was seeing Bruno Wizard (the only man from the  first wave to be too punk rock for punk rock who is still alive) and his  revamped Homosexuals on the patio of some dive bar. He hugged me once, and  moshed into me multiple times.

CHART ATTACK

  http://www.chartattack.com/news/67655/sxsw-cedar-street-rocks

Bruno  Wizard has a younger band with him, but he's still singing his punk rock songs  from 30 years ago. I hadn't heard of The Homosexuals the first time around, but  heard good things about Wizard's recently revived band and wanted to check them  out.He  introduced a song about his former drummer, who was murdered because he was  Asian, and one from 1978 about freeing Nelson Mandela. Wizard wore a shirt that  looked like a Twister game and said Austin's Rusty Spurs was the first openly  gay bar he'd ever played. Who knew? Wizard's  a dynamic frontman with great songs, and both deserve this resurrection. The  Homosexuals were way better than expected. Check them out while you can.

WASHINGTON POST - by David Malitz

  http://twp.com/BETTER/detail.jsp?key=364978&rc=postr&p=0

I  wrote about the Homosexuals last year, and while there was no way Thursday's  performance was going to top that in terms of pure thrill, the band has grown  into a much tighter unit over the past year while frontman Bruno Wizard remains  a singular presence on stage. They simply don't make them like the 58-year-old  Wizard anymore. We should maybe be thankful for that, but we should be more  thankful that he and his band are out there continuing to bring these classic  songs roaring back to life.

INDY WEEK BLOGS

  http://www.indyweekblogs.com/scan/2009/03/sxsw-day-2-lies-and-repeats-jason-crock/#more-671

I saw the Homosexuals twice in one day,  and I wouldn’t take back either experience. Some things are worth repeating,  and hearing “Hearts in Exile” live is one of them. While it’s not the original  members, the current lineup remains phenomenal: They’re taut and intense,  playing these songs with convincing grit, and flipping between twisted rhythms,  thrash and noisy deconstructions with equal skill and aplomb. Singer Bruno  McQuillan is my fashion icon, who played the Rusty Spurs bar earlier that day  wearing a jacket that looked like he’d been wrapped in a Twister game board,  and had changed for the Emo’s showcase with a new, equally loud and clashing  outfit (including a knee-length shirt with some indigenous design rendered with  neon puff paint). He’s looking a little old for his fey, mocking stage moves  and green hair, but the sound couldn’t be more vital. Don’t take my word for  it: While short on banter, he ended the set by asking the crowd to approach him  later for a link to download every Homosexuals song. He was surrounded by fans  until the The Oh Sees went on, but I didn’t see any of them asking for  handouts—just shaking hands and hugs and reverence.
SPARKLE BLISS

  http://www.sparklebliss.com/blog/archives/236

My  last two acts of SXSWery were heading to End of an Ear for an in-store  performance by the Homosexuals and a venture to Flatstock. The Homosexuals show  was brief but definitely worthwhile. The band, reformed by founder and frontman  Bruno Wizard, sounded really sharp, and the audio quality was pretty good for a  performance space wedged in the corner of a record shop. If you haven’t  listened previously, check out the band’s MySpace page (even old  punk/post-punks are on the internet these days). They were among the groups  really hustling it at this year’s SXSW, playing an official showcase as well as  a coffee shop, a tattoo parlor, and a couple of other day shows.

  Critic's Pick

The  Homosexuals, Emo's Jr., 10:30 p.m. Though they're terminally reclusive and  iconoclastic, still an argument can be made that the Homosexuals were the  greatest punk rock band. Founder and rock renegade Bruno Wizard leads this  re-formed, storied band.
REVIEW

  http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/sxsw/2009/03/the-homosexuals-rock-sxsws-wor.html

How  intense was the Homosexuals show at Emo's Jr. on Thursday? Well,  the bass player Mike Dossantos pounded his strings at one point with a dummer's  cymbal (later, he would dangle his instrument from its strap and scamper around  the stage as if he was walking his dog). Guitarist  David Siegel busted some strings off his guitar on the finale "You're Not  Moving the Way You're Supposed To." And  kinetic leader and founder Bruno Wizard was, uh, Bruno Wizard. "We're the  Homosexuals and you're wonderful," said the sweat-soaked singer  afterwards. etc etc etc
POP MATTERS

  REVIEW of the Beerland show

  http://www.popmatters.com/pm/post/71963-music-day-one-day-shows/

Last  year, you had to see the Homosexuals at SXSW, because this Clash-era,  art-damaged, unjustly forgotten band hadn’t played in 30-plus years and maybe  never would again. Well, surprise, they’re back, or rather he’s back, Mr. Bruno  Wizard, the singer backed by a band that he insists is better than the old late  1970s edition. They are, quite good, and Wizard is in great form, stalking the  stage like a caged tiger, making various observations on life and love and sex  and drugs (he is, apparently, living clean now), and performing the wonderfully  jittery, oddly structured, manically intense material from the Homosexuals’  brief flowering—“Hearts in Exile”, “My Night Out”, and “News from Nairobi”  among them. He dedicates one song to his original bass player, now dead 30 years,  his throat slit on the street, Wizard says, “Just because he was Asian.”  Linking that, somehow, to departed president W. and new president Obama, he is  restless, non-linear, sparking with intelligence… just like his songs. What the  hell, if he stays this on, I’d see him next year, too.

After  this, I got treated to a performance by one of the best punk bands of all time:  The Homosexuals. Though the only remaining member from the 1970s group is  vocalist Bruno Wizard, the songs sound just as good today as they do on the  albums. Bruno  weaved across the outdoor "stage" at Miss Bea's, shouting advice to the  youth while powering through a set with the majority of songs from the band's  first record. This was a treat.

  The  Homosexuals, 10:45 PM

Back  in the ‘Jr.’ were the not young Homosexuals – an honest-to-god ‘Spirit of ‘77’  Anglo-punk band making a comeback (and their name has stood the test of time,  shock-wise, better than, say, The Sex Pistols…).  They sounded just like about what you’d  expect, and just as authentic, with the engaging (if seriously  worse-for-the-years) singer Bruno Wizard giving one of the best lines of SXSW,  “If you can find a band better than these guys [his band], tell me.  If they’re not, I’ll knee you in the trunks…”
KJHK @ SXSW 2009

  http://kjhksxsw.blogspot.com/2009/03/sxsw-day-one-re-cap.html

Speaking  of starting out well, the Homosexuals opened with "Hearts In Exile."  Opening with your hit = punk rock, even if the hit was minor and three decades  ago. The rest of their set was equally as entertaining, and I'm happy to see  that Bruno is actually calling the band the Homosexuals, as opposed to a  long-winded speech about how the band is actually a new band, blah blah blah.

FUCK  ME, THIS IS A COMPLETE ARTIST

  http://larecord.com/interviews/2009/03/26/the-homosexuals-fuck-me-this-is-a-complete-artist/

Full interview: Bruno Wizard was the frontman of the Homosexuals, one of the best bands ever to come out of Britain and a restorative necessity for anyone who wished for just a little bit more from Wire, the Pretty Things or Steve ‘Peregrine’ Took. Wizard has a new touring line-up playing new and old songs and speaks now from his current home in New York City.

LA WEEKLY BLOG

http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/the-homosexuals-and-silver-app/

Last night at the Echo, however, lead singer for the Homosexuals, Bruno, seemed intent on rectifying the curse of the sad older man, slithering around with such animal ferocity it made all hearts aflutter. The man was panther-like sex, pogoing, threatening to stage dive, beating his chest, crucifying himself with drumsticks, freakin' meditating 'om' style with thumb and index fingers pinched together in focused thought while the band played apocalypse-like behind him and even sticking the mic down his pants where it may or may not have gone up his ass. It was thrilling and caused all not thrashing around like dying fish on sun-baked beach's to stop stupid in their tracks. Fully comfortable in the role of the teacher/aggressor, he hissed such gems as 'Oh, are the Homosexuals Art Punk? DIY? Post Modern? Who gives a fuck, fuck labels!' And how.

INTERVIEW with FUCKED UP's DAMIAN ABRAHAM

on Fucked Up's "punkness" --- "But I think by collecting all  these records and finding all these obscure groups, you realize how broad this  movement really was. You have bands like Wire, and you have bands like the  Homosexuals, that were pushing the envelope even back then. I'm not saying  we're equal caliber, but I did want to be part of that continuum - and I  picture Fucked Up as being part of that continuum. We're obviously not the most  traditional punk band, but I still think we're part of the broader punk  movement that existed at that point. Like the DIY explosion that happened,  where you had all these different types of bands doing weird things. It was  connected to the punk movement, but it wasn't "punk rock."

The Homosexuals' Love Guns 10" (copies 300 through 600) now available. 2nd EP en route.

Back in October we pressed 300 copies of Love Guns? which almost immediately sold out. This pressing presented maximum collectibility. Not only was each cover hand silk-screened, but head Homosexual Bruno Wizard wrote a freely improvised story across the back covers of each hand-numbered copy. So anyway, these records sold out right away we deemed it necessary to press a second 300.

So we've pressed a second 300. And Bruno continued his story, and took his time, lavishing some copies with drawings and loving touches.

Hopefully hardcore collectors won't be too deflated. There are only 600 of these things in the world.

You can get your copy right here (along with a matching Tshirt) or you can march down to you favorite local mom-n-pop record shop and demand they stock some.

You can read the story so far at www.thehomosexualsloveguns.com a website we set up where fans can share their own unique sections of the story. If you're an owner of a record and haven't shared your part of the story yet, go do it now.

---More Homosexuals US dates coming soon, including SXSW where they'll be playing the panache showcase on thursday 3/19 in austin.

---New Homosexuals EP coming soon.

---Carlos Charlie Perez directed a video for 3AM (Pink Pony) and that will be done soon.
