This week a exclusive mix from - Gagarin
from:
GEO Records

gagarin.org.uk
myspace.com/ggrn
myspace.com/georecordsuk

The man who records as Gagarin has a long and varied career on the outer edges of music. He has, and continues to work with a huge variety of other artists as well as releasing his own moody, melodic electronica. This mix shows a variety of work he has done with some of these both recently and in the past - some are remixes he has done of others, some remixes by others of Gagarin tracks and some from other artists he's involved with. It features A few tracks from his recent album Adaptogen , tracks from label mates on Geo - Raf & O and Roshi feat Pars Radio that he plays on as well as a track from Velvet Underground legend Nico that he played on back in the 80's with the Faction. Also a Gagarin remix of avant rock heroes Pere Ubu and collaborations with electronica wunderkind Robert Logan. Gagarin is currently releasing a series of Adaptogen remixes and heavily involved in gigs with Pere Ubu of their Long Live Pere Ubu theatre show in UK and across the globe...Read more at his myspace:

This week a exclusive mix from - Burnkane
myspace.com/burnkane
from:
Planet Mu

I grew up listening to Santana, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Herbie Handcock, Burning Spear and all things alike. Then I moved away from band orientated music and started listening to more electronic music styles. The Prodigy, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Dj Producer, Hellfish, Venetian Snares, and all kinds of Rephlex Acid and Planet Mu style releases,
I could get my ears on  when I moved to London for a few years back in 1998 I started listening to Pirate radio station Freak FM, who at the time were playing some kind of Speed Garage tunes, where they would remix commercial vocal tracks all pitched and messed around with into some tight garage beats and melodies. This really got me into R&B styles and artists like Aaliyah, and in all honesty I have a massive respect for Timberland's production skills, he knows how to make a banging tune! Also Burial, Kode9&Roots Manuva have a big influence in my dub styles.
I have been using computers and synthesizers from a very early age, being more interested in electronics than any other subject's. I guess I have been trying to make music since trackers run in DOS on Windows and jamming with friends trying to learn any instruments I could get my hands on. Then when Fruity Loops first cam out in 1998, I was introduced to it by some Spanish guys that I shared a house with in North London. I was a whole new world of sequencing to me and I could see strait away the possibilities that this program had to offer. You can listen to some of my early efforts with this program on beatwife.com in my streaming player, tracks such as "Pump it", "Checksum" and "Clone a Drone" are just a few of my very early experimentations with Fruity Loops. I have used nearly every digital workstation out there, Reason, Logic, Cubase, Cakewalk, Nuendo to name a few but now I'm using Ableton Live for compositing all my sounds together into complete tracks. I have never stopped making music, I try to do it everyday, or something that is related to making a track, if it is finding new sounds, making new sounds experimenting with different software or making my own software with Max/Msp and Puredata. Some of the software that I create will be availabe at beatwife.com as soon as I make them all more user friendly. Music is more my hobby than anything else, sound is my output for everything I have inside of me and if I do not get it out I will go crazy. So there will always be more to come from Burnkane and Beatwife, I will always be trying to evolve my styles and create something new for my ears and if others enjoy what I create then that makes me even happier with my efforts that go into everything that makes my music come to life.
peace
Richard

This week a exclusive mix from - Randomform
myspace.com/rand0mf0rm
from:
Patpong Records / Crazy-Language / Essentia Mundi

My name is Sorin Paun. I am a visual & sound artist from Romania. I always enjoyed electronic music, in the mid 90’s i was listening to house, techno and trip-hop, then got into ambient and other forms of experimental and abstract music (idm, jungle/drum’n’bass, glitch and even some Japanese noise). I started to make dj mixes with various music genres – techno, breakbeat, electro and idm. Some of my influences come from the Warp Records artists (Autechre, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, LFO….), Future Sound of London, The Orb, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Meat Beat Manifesto, Orbital, 80’s and early 90’s industrial music (Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Front Line Assembly), mid 90’s trance and ambient music.
I started making music in 2005, experimenting with sound processing and beat creation and so my first musical projects were born, the moon (eventually transformed into sunmoon) and randomform.
Randomform - is a changing, shifting, multiple facet alias focused on structure and mechanical rhythms. Each track creates a image of moving pieces in a large structure that slowly changes form, becoming more and more complex or decomposing right before your eyes.

This week a exclusive mix from - Subeena
myspace.com/subeena
from:
Imminent, Planet Mu, Acroplane, Red Volume

I've been making music for about 6 years now, the first 3 or so were really bad though.
When I was a kid I used to be into Bjork, older Jamiroquai albums,
                                                                                         lots of random things really.
Later on after having a brief but intense time in which,
Was into bands and a few hip hop things here and there..
(I never had a proper culture for it,I'd just bump into random tunes I liked)
I got into electronic music - apart from The Prodigy,..
Chemical Brother etc from when I was a kid.
So I'd say early Warp was definitely a big influence electronic-wise.
Right now I struggle to find music I seriously like if I have to be honest,
Speaking about "not-clubby" sort of music - but I've been enjoying things like Jan Jelinek's projects,Gramm,
Farben etc a lot recently.
Subeena.

This week a exclusive mix from - Wahn
myspace.com/wahnlabtop
acroplane.org

Hmm yeah, what can I tell you..
I've been producing music for the last 4 years but I've been mixing for 10 years now.
I've started playing Detroit techno, I'm still a big fan of all the UR crew,
Carl Craig and all that movement.
I think I'm still under the influence of the Detroit music as,
Really care about the melodies and the construction of the tracks.
Then I've discovered the IDM with Warp (Boards of Canada, Afx, Autechre, Brothomstates...),
Raster Noton, Funkstorung...And I also felt in love :p
I've always been more in the emotional tracks than in the banging tunes.
In the dubstep scene I had a lot of difficulties to find music that,
I like but I managed With people like Zomby, Mount Kimbie or Various Production.
For the LP on Acroplane I tried to apply the dubstep production to my ideas.
I feel pretty comfortable with that tempo (what surprised me a lot !!).
This LP is actually totally inspired by a book called "The House of Leaves",
It's my adaptation of the book. That's why it's very dark and "immersive".
I'm currently working on a new dubstep EP but this is far from being finished !!!
Hope this helps'..Erwan aka Wahn.
