I am riding along on a train up to Boston getting mentally prepared for a gig tonight. As the train rolls through the great Northeast, I sit here and think about life as an artist, and how truly extraordinary it is. Knowing full well that millions have done exactly what I am doing today is humbling. Whether it be Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Neil Young, or any other artist, they have all traveled in the same shoes. The tie that binds us is our willingness to bet everything on a simple, silent prayer that opportunity creates itself. You see, all I have is a vision. I have no gameplan, no IRA, no 401k, no benefits, no corporate ladder, no paycheck, no investment strategies. Nothing. All I have is a commitment to make the most out of this train ride up to Boston with a dream of connecting with 5 or 6 concert goers who have never seen me, and might not ever see me again. I have 45 minutes to bear my soul, and share my stories over a pint of beer and a microphone. My only plan is to inspire somebody so deeply, that they see themselves in me. They hear their voice in mine. They see the world through my eyes, even if for the briefest of moments. I may share an embrace or a few words with them when the day is through, and then it is back on the train with a silent prayer that this opportunity creates itself once more.

Current mood: accomplished
I had an amazing experience last night at The World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. I had the opportunity to share the stage with Jake Snider, who is an 18 year old songwriting prodigy. Between him and his band, they were able to play a set that flowed perfectly from top to bottom. It was remarkable to see such opportunity at work. Congratulations to Jake.
Following Jake was Jonah Delso. With the buzz of the Coldplay contest still circling around him, Jonah humbly took the stage and began his set with a quiet song on the ukulele (which he lost later that night). He then moved into an amazing array of fun, pop/funk tunes featuring some of his best friends from his hometown. I had the pleasure of playing keyboards on two of his songs, although i did forget some of the chords. Jonah's gritty, versatile singing style really grabbed the attention of the entire room. With songs like "Heavy on the Heart", "Knuckles Bleed", and "The Drinkers Anthem", Jonah and his band left the crowd feeling happy and energetic. Thank you Jonah for a great set!
With the news of our first ever sold out show, I took the stage in a state of euphoria. I looked around at my bandmates, and saw 4 of my very best friends in the world ready to play some rock and roll music. From the first note of the show to the last, I truly had a remarkable time. I want to thank anybody and everybody who came out to the show to see it. Hopefully, this won't be the last time I play for a "Sold Out" audience. For now, I will just sit here on my blog and reflect on an amazing night of music. In the midst of a "bad economy" in which we are all taught to be frightened and "realistic", a crowd of 200 plus people came out to drink and have a memorable night before a holiday. I am just so happy to have been a part of it. thank you all!

Hello Party People! This is my first blog in the history of my life. I figure that if I want to take myself seriously as a singer/songwriter... I had better start a blog. Feel me? Anyway, here is where my life is at right now. I am sitting in front of my computer listening to "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. Such a sexy and hot jam. I am also reflecting on a gig I played last night. I had a show at the Viper Room in West Hollywood. I played as part of a group named "Birds on a Wire"; comprised of fellow songwriters Andy Grammer, Jim Hanft, Adam Dale, Nate Thomas, and Jake Hill. The show was awesome! If you can, check out the noise at www.birdsonawiremusic.com. I am about to finish 4 or 5 new songs that I am extremely excited about. Holllllaaaaaaa. Thanks for readin!
