Dandelion Radio Session CoverPlay your part in making musical history, by taking part in this year's Festive Fifty! The Festive Fifty is an annual chart featuring the previous year's best tracks, as voted for by listeners. Legendary BBC broadcaster John Peel presented the first ever Festive Fifty on Radio 1 back in 1976, and continued to do so until his death in 2004. Radio 1's One Music show hosted the poll in 2005, before Peel's former production team asked Dandelion Radio to become the new home of the Festive Fifty from 2006 onwards.

Naturally we recommend you vote however your conscience dictates, but we won't mind if you get a vote in for us. Nickname: Rebel did an exclusive 5-song session for Dandelion in June and you can hear and download two of those track below.

The entire session has now been mastered and will be released this Winter on Wow Cool along with videos for the Rescue Boat and Branston Pickle Crisis tracks. Shooting recently completed on the Rescue Boat video in HD, and it's pretty crazy stuff.

nickname: Rebel recorded an exclusive five-track session for Mark Whitby's show on internet radio station Dandelion Radio, and you can hear it all during June, 2009. That's nearly a half hour of new stuff made by Marc Arsenault, Tom Burre, Michael Keegan and Nick Carpenter. Recorded at Wow Cool in Cupertino, California.

Dandelion Radio plays a 23-hour rotation of shows continuously, so you could listen to the show every single day, just one hour earlier each time. Check their schedule page for more details.

Mark Whitby's description of the show:
'An absolute clinker', Richie Benaud might say, as the English cricket season hovers into view and the long summer evenings are filled with sounds of So Shush and Noise Annoys Simon and a very welcome EP reissue from 4our5ive6ix. And he might just be referring to the debut Dandelion Radio session of Nickname: Rebel, who deliver five tracks of such stunning ferocity, you might want to don a safety helmet.

Dandelion Radio is an internet radio station founded in June 2006 with the aim of pursuing the musical legacy of the popular and influential BBC Radio 1 disk jockey John Peel. The station takes its name from the record label Dandelion Records founded and run by Peel between 1969 and 1972.

Ouroboros

The debut video from nickname: Rebel takes you all over the world. Paris, Barcelona, Long Beach, Florida and many other places are all mashed up in a big video blender.

The ancient symbol of a snake devouring its own tail is represented here by throwing an agressive repetitive 5/4 jazz beat against blaring guitars and electronics. A celebration of loops and shifting juxtapositions (only 2 loops are actually used in the piece). A sonic attack of repetition against the bane of routine. Executed by Marc Arsenault (Brown Cuts Neighbors) and Joshua Baker (Offset Needle Radius, ex- God Hates Computers, Chased and Smashed, Sawhorse).

Get the single! Two bonus tracks.

Last.fm

Finally got it together to put the Rebel sound up on Last.fm. There is the mini 5-song version of the R is For Riot EP available as free downloads. You can get the whole 10 song thing for free, of course, as one big 30MB download. The MySpaceship has 3 more tunes. The n:R cover of a Sexual Milkshake song is still available as part of a Teen Beat Records tribute called Relax Brother, Relax up on the Internet Archive. Two more cover tunes are on the old DeptEx Sounds page, for you completists. There, that's it, that's all of them. Now you know. Now you know... there is a hell.
