The WAYBACKS seek street team helpers to get the word out for the upcoming tour in SC, NC, TN and VA. Check out the show listings and see if there's an upcoming concert near you!

Respond to this bulletin if you think you'll be able to hang a few posters for us, make a few calls, tell your Myspace/..Facebook friends, or anything else to help spread the word about our upcoming shows.

In exchange for your efforts, we can offer you a pair of free tickets to a show plus one of our new live Secret Stage Mix CDs. We'll even sign your trapper keeper!!

Dear Friends, Music Lovers,

We Waybacks have made so damn much money this year, billions and billions, really, far more than we could ever hope to give away, more than could be stashed in a baker's dozen offshore bank accounts, much more than we could possibly launder through our small chain of cut-rate butcher shops, even more than we could dream of squandering on a year's worth of excess baggage fees with our favorite major airlines.

We've got so much extra cash laying around that we decided to splurge on a
fancy new web site. By the time you have received this fascinating email, the new site should be up and running (or it will be so very soon). There, you'll find a Media Player, band photos, news items, gig calendar and a dang ole genuine deluxe Rube Goldberg-esque gyroscopic oscillating stereophonic
pulseratin' vaporizin' distillatin' steam-driven Waybacks Machine. The superbly stylized graphics were created by Chris Shaw.

Be sure to visit our remodeled
Waybacks mercantile page and check out all the new CDs we have added to the collection:
~
Merlefest Watson Stage 2009, our Friday night main stage set from last April.
~
Merlefest Hillside Album Hour 2008, the infamous Led Zeppelin II extravaganza.
~
Secret Stage Mixes - Volumes 1,2 & 3, live shows we recorded from the stage in 2008.

We've had a couple weeks off, and now we're back at the business of making music. This week will find us in Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, and our ancestral homeland of San Francisco, CA, where on Friday the 18th we will proudly participate in
This Land Is Your Land, an old-school musical revue featuring the legendary Pete Seeger and  Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.

Our performance schedule is forever a work-in-progress, so do remember to check our CALENDAR PAGE for updated info as new show dates are confirmed and added. Do come and join us, won't you? Mark your calendars. Tell your friends.

Secret Stage Mixes
Under cover of darkness (and occasional festival tenting) the intrepid Waybacks have lately been engaged in highly esoteric stealth recording technology, capturing various live performances, whisking them away to their subterranean music laboratory, and conjuring tasty brews by means of alchemy never before attempted in these parts.

The result is an ongoing series of recordings known as the Secret Stage Mixes, recorded as only The Waybacks might think to do so, and now available to you exclusively in this space as both physical CDs and digital downloads. Check 'em out and check back regularly for the latest additions.

Buy them here in download or hard-copy CD format!!

We are conducting a contest in conjunction with Festivalink.net. We are looking for guesses for the album that we will perform during the upcoming Merlefest Hillside Album Hour.

Last year was a decidedly non-bluegrass tribute to the classic album, Led Zeppelin II.

Here is Hint #1 for this year "This album proved damaging to other bands' records." Guess often at http://bit.ly/FCM7V

Submit your guesses at that site early and often .. We won't disclose the album until the first chord is struck at 5 pm on Saturday during the fest.

Good Luck!
