Hello Champainaics! Well, it's been quite awhile since I've actually written a blog, but I've been waiting on some breaking news to share with you all. I've got a couple of things to tell you and I think that they will both be very emotional things for all of you to hear. I've been wondering if I should let everyone in on the news and I came to the conclusion that the "Champainiacs" could actually help me out with the outcome. Ok, here it is!
I heard from a very reliable source who works for TNA that they have been watching the Hire Cham-Pain Campaign very close. My source told me that TNA are interested, but there only concern was most of the fans are only wanting to see me on WWE. It seems that they are getting some e-mails, but they want to see alot more, just to make sure that I would be worth their while. If they were to take a chance on me they want to be sure that they have plenty of fan support from the Champainiacs. I'm not suppose to know this information or tell anyone but I said "What the Hell, I really need to tell my people about this so we can make a difference!" After all, if we get TNA on the Hire Cham-Pain Train then WWE will follow suit! They are always tring to take talent from each other so I figure the way we get both of them interested is to bombard TNA with e-mails, faxes, and phone calls. The man in charge of Talent is Terry Taylor and he has always been a big supporter of my wrestling and he has made a point to tell me that he enjoyed my work a couple of times. Terry is a good man and I know that he would be overwhelmed with intrest if my fans started a Hire Cham-Pain Revolution.
The second thing that I wanted to talk to you guys about is an interview on Thursday Jan 8th that I will be doing with The Shoot pro wrestling. I would ask that you all go to myspace.com/theshootprowrestling that you can find in my top friends and read Gary's last blog about my upcomming interview on Jan. 8th
Alot of you don't know this, but I've given myself a time limit on when I was going to call it quits. Yes, retire from the wrestling business and move on to other things in my life while I'm still young enough to pursue them. I don't want to leave the wrestling business, but I've been doing this for 16 years and (here's another secret) I just turned 40 this year! Wow, what an old geaser, right!? I'm not saying that I will retire, but if I don't have a contract by then or rumors of a contract I will be bowing out gracefully. I hope you will all tune in on Thursday Jan. 8th 2009 to find out my life changing decision.
Just wanted to say that I love and appreciate you all. Now, wheather or not I make this dream a reality, I will never forget this Hire Cham-Pain Campaign and all of the beautiful people that I have met and became friends with along the way. I've sat at my computer many nights with tears in my eyes from the e-mails, the pictures you've sent, the comments that you've made, or the little kids who have touched my heart.
Anyway, on a brighter note "Let do This!" This is our final push so lets make it a good one!

Just wanted to drop a couple of lines and let all my Champainiacs know what has been going on with the Campaign. I haven't been on myspace in a few days because there are so many things going on right now.
The article in Fighting Spirit Magazine is finally out. It's the September issue with C.M. Punk on the cover. The article is titled "The Fifth Beatle" and if you live in the United States you can pick it up at Borders. I'm sure there are other places that you can pick it up, but at the present time that's the only place that I know that carries the magazine. You can also check it out on www.fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk
The Omega dvd "Uncommon Passion" has just been released in Best Buy stores for sale in the United States. This dvd tells the story of how Omega came into existence and the trials and tribulatations that we overcame to produce one of the greatest independant federations in wrestling history. If you don't know about Omega, or even if you do, trust me, you really need to check out this dvd! You'll be glad that you did.
I have also released a new youtube video about the Campaign and about the John Laurinaitis incident that I think all of my Champainiacs would love to see. Check it out and let me know what you think. The video is called Cham-pain's public address.
I just want to ask everyone to keep up the e-mails, faxing, and sign making. This campaign is getting alot of recognition and this will be a historical event. The Cham-pain campaign will go down in wrestling history and I'm very proud of each and everyone of you. Just think, we will all go down in history and nobody can take that away from us! The WWE is starting to blur out all of the Hire Cham-pain signs now, and that's a great thing! We are truly getting to them and that really makes me smile. We can't stop, this Army is just getting bigger, the Cham-pain train is gaining speed, and I'm am just getting started! They can't stop us now nomatter how hard they try. If you know anybody that could get us any press just send them one of my press releases that you can find on any of my other sites. All of my other sites are on my top friends and I just wanna thank all of my girls for running them for me. I also wanna thank all of my FANS for all of your hard work and support.Thank you all. I also wanted to send a special thanks to my cousin Phillip, you're always there wheather I win or lose, thank you brother. CHAMPAINIACS,WE ARE TOO STRONG, LET'S DO THIS!!

Hello everyone, well I guess most of you have heard the latest campaign news and for those who haven't, I'm gonna fill you in.
About three months ago after my match with Vladimir Kozlov, after the show, I asked John Laurinaitis if I could talk with him. I Basically told him that I could put people in the seats and I didn't wanna sound cocky, but I think that they would be pleased with my work if given a full-time position with the company. I went on to explain that I had been in the business a long time and I didn't want to go to my grave without working for a major company. I told him that wrestling was my life and I didn't want to do anything else. I didn't talk about all the trials and tribulations that I had been through over the years, because it's like someone once said "Everybody has a sob story" and I didn't want to bore him with mine. I finally asked Mr. Laurinaitis why I never had gotten a chance to work for the company on a full-time basis. After I said that, Mr. Laurinaitis asked me if I really wanted to know why the WWE haden't hired me so far. Of course I said "Yes". He told me the main reason that I had never gotten a chance to work full-time is because he didn't think that I could make the company any money. He went on to say that he thought that I was a good worker (good wrestler), that I carried myself very professionally, and when I did work for the company(WWE) that I made his guys (wrestlers) look good. After hearing this I told him (politely) that he apparently had never seen anything that Cham-Pain had done. I told him that if he had, that he would never say that I couldn't make the company any money. I went on to plead my case and I told him that it was really hard to show them (WWE) what I could do in a three minute match where I couldn't get the mic (talk on the microphone) and where I was just doing a squash match (a match where you just get beat down by your opponent). Mr. Laurinaitis went on to tell me if I wanted his advice that he thought that I should go to another federation and prove him wrong. He told me to get people interested in me and he would be interested in me.
After that night I went home and thought about what I should do to get people interested in me. I was trying to think of something new and innovative, then I had a crazy idea. I thought I needed to send a message over the internet and I didn't know how I would do it because I didn't have internet service at my house. I called a couple of friends that were setting up a myspace page for me to promote my rap album. They said that I should write a blog and I said, "what is a blog?" After they schooled me on what a blog was I started writing it with the help of my friend Bett Britt. She could type a lot faster than me and she could spell better than me too! I would tell her what to write and she just sat and typed for two hours without ever complaining. I just told my story about how I started wrestling and the journey that it has taken me on over the years. I titled the story Matt, Jeff, Shannon, Shane and the forgotten Beatle and in the first 24 hrs it got 6 thousand views. I sent the blog to a few major wrestling news companies and it was all over the internet that very same week. People started contacting me wanting to do interviews. I did a show called thaOshow.com and my very first time on the show the two hosts, Dann-e O and Big Daddy Donnie asked me to do a weekly segment on the show. We call it " A Glass of Cham-Pain" and it's been a blast! I've also got a magazine article comming out in Fighting Spirit magazine in a couple of weeks from now. It's been amazing to see all of the support that I received from all over the world. It just doesn't seem real sometimes.
Anyway, at the end of the blog I asked the fans to e-mail the WWE, TNA and ROH. I also asked people to carry signs to the live shows that said Hire Cham-Pain if they believed in my cause. To my dismay, signs have been showing up all over the world! Alot of the major superstars for WWE have commented that they have seen my signs in Europe and Australia as well as seeing them in the United States. A few guys told me that they signed fliers that said Hire Cham-Pain in Australia and the support that I've received from the United Kingdom is Amazing!
With all of that being said, I think that I've gotten more than a few people interested in me. I took what John Laurinaitis said to me to heart and I actually made it happen with the help of my new found friends all over the world. This virial marketing campaign has never been done to try and get a job with the WWE or any wrestling federation as far as I know. This campaign has an army of fans that will stop at nothing to see my dream come true. It's getting bigger each and every day.
Last Wednesday evening around 7:30 I received a call from John Laurinaitis a.k.a "Johnny Ace". He introduced himself and by his tone of voice I could tell that he was upset. He asked me if I had started a viral marketing campaign on the internet. I said yes, and he asked me if I had put the talent relations e-mail up on my site. I said yes, and he said "Why would you do that!" I explained that it was already on the internet and I was just reposting it on my site. He said that his e-mail had increased by 150 everyday and that talent relations e-mail had increased by 250. He also said that someone had figured out how to e-mail anybody in the company by just putting the name in front of .com. I said "Well, I didn't mean to cause anybody any problems". Mr Laurinaitis said " I told you before Marty you're just an average guy and I'm not going to hire you". I said, "I'm doing what you asked me to do and I'm just tring to get an F'n job!" Johnny said, " Now you're cursing at a senior vice president!" I said, " I wasn't cursing at you, just at the situation! I'm frustrated" He said, "Well, I'm done doing business with you Marty and you're not welcomed at any of my shows anymore!" Then he hung up the phone.
Now, here's the plan. This is a very good thing because all of the press that I'm gonna get off of this is going make this campaign explode! I want everyone to keep on e-mailing the WWE, but just don't say anything negative about them or any of their employees. I would ask that you e-mail TNA as well, because I was invited to TNA last friday night as a special guest of Terry Taylor (the head booker). The reason this is gonna be a good thing is because I'm getting a lot more exposure because I pissed off Johnny Ace! He's the one who went back on his word, I got people interested and he just dropped the whole thing. The more press we can get over this controversy the better! This whole story would make for great TV, you can't write this shit! I guess if they don't pick this story up and run with it ,what that means is, The WWE doesn't care what the fans want so they'll tell you what you want and you'll like it!
I just want to stress how much I appreciate and love you all. Thank you for being a part of this grassroots movement that has ruffled the feathers of a major wrestling federation. I owe this all to you, the fans! Let's just double our efforts and keep the faith. This thing isn't going exactly as planned, but I like this direction better! I wish you all the best and if you need me I'm just a message away. Thank you so much!

Hello Everyone, I'm really sorry that it's been so long between blogs. This Cham-Pain Campaign has became like a second job and I'm barely keeping up! I'm so proud to know that all of you really care about me and about making my dream come true. I can't believe that I have world wide support now and my fan base is growing every day. That first blog I wrote has gotten so much press that it almost seems like a dream with all the interviews that I'm doing and the magazine that is about to do a story on me. Hire Cham-Pain signs have been seen everywhere and even the Undertaker spotted one of them in Australia! My Champainiacs are running wild and I love each and every one of you! The e-mails are still a very important part of what we're tring to do here, so please hit (WWE and TNA)em' up every chance you get! If it's only a one line e-mail that just says "Hire Cham-Pain" they'll get the picture. Just a little tip if you happen to take a Hire Cham-Pain sign to a show. The Hire Cham-Pain sign will get more camera time if you have a WWE superstar sign right beside it, when the superstar comes out the camera will shoot all of their signs and if a Hire Cham-Pain sign happens to be next to the superstars sign then it will be seen too! The signs are really comming out in force now and it's exciting to see on TV. Please look out for Kelly's sign tomorrow night on Smackdown, she's on the hard camera side, on the fourth row with a pink and black Hire Cham-Pain sign. I also want to apologize to everyone that wanted an autograph because it's gonna be the end of this week before I get any of them sent out. I'm so sorry that it's taken so long, but I've been alittle overwhelemed with all of this Cham-Pain Campaign stuff. Thank you for being so patient with me.
If anyone is reading this that hasen't read my other blogs you might want to read them in order so you can make sense out of this one. The first blog you want to read is "Matt, Jeff, Shannon, Shane and the forgotten Beatle" and the next one is "The Teenage Wrestling Federation". Now we can finally start this one.
As you all know I debuted at Matt and Jeff's Teenage Wrestling Federation with one of the worst matches ever seen on a trampoline! After I worked my match with Matt in his Jason Vorhees mask I was a wrestling junkie! What I didn't tell you before about this federation is that Matt would video tape all the matches, edit them and then sell them to the local video store to rent out to customers. People would actually rent the tapes out and watch them, if you can believe that! If you needed some entertainment all you had to do is rent one of those tapes, grab some beer and let the good times roll!
In those days Matt was rockin a flat top hair don't and I had a flat top and had long hair in the back. Some people called this hairstyle a Mullet, but I called it a Masterpiece!! I think this was when Jeff was comming into his "Vanilla Ice" phase. He looked, dressed, and danced like Rob Van Winkle. Shannon was only 11yrs old and I can't remember what he looked like, Hell, I didn't even notice Shannon for a couple of years! Just kidding!
After months of the Teenage Wrestling Federation we met a man by the name of Kenneth Morgan who I lovingly refered to as "The Woolly Booger". He was a very quiet man who never said alot about anything. Kenneth actually had a real wrestling ring, but there was a catch! His ring had about 4' feet of hard ring on each side and about 4' of tampoline in the middle. It was a hell of a contraption! He wanted us to do some shows at the local fair when they came into town. Of course we agreeded to do the shows. Matt and Tracy Caddell thought that we should change the name of the federation since we were about to wrestle the big home town fair. Matt and Tracy came up with the name New Frontier Wrestling Alliance (NFWA) and we ran with it. The shows were booked for the last three nights of the fair and we were stoked to do them! We couldn't wait either, I bet we told everybody we knew and the funny thing was we had never had any formal training what so ever.
The night of the show our roster consisted of: Matt, Jeff, Shannon, Tracy Caddell, Me, and a couple of other guys who I can't really remember. Sorry guys! I don't even think that Shannon was wrestling yet! I was running late and when I got there I could tell that Matt was stressed out alittle bit. He said that he needed more time so I told him that I could go out and do one of my rap songs or do stand up comedy. What an idiot, I was! I went out and did one of my rap songs and there was a fair ride right beside the stage and the ride was playing music really loud so when I did my rap song you couldn't even here it! I was jumpin' around the stage with a mic in my hand and you couldn't hear a word that I was saying. That was one of the best preformances that I have ever done.
Now, it was time for my big debut match in the NFWA and I was ready to turn it out! I went out to the ring with my paper thin white sweat pants, pink tanktop, tube socks(we didn't need no stinkin' wrestling boots), shades and a do rag. Matt came out in his baseball pants, hockey mask and a bad attitude. I'll never forget waiting for him to get into the ring, I saw my grandfather in the stands sitting next to my dad. My grandfather was a huge wrestling fan and this was the first and the last match that he would ever see me work. He passed soon after the show. Anyway back to the mayhem. There was a part in the match where Matt was going to actually fall on the hard part of the ring and we were all anticipating him doing that. When he did it we were all dumbfounded because none of us had ever done that. It was a big moment for all of us because "Shit" was about to change forever. The match went well and Matt was kind enough to let me win or as we say in the business "Go over". After the match we all went to eat and went to Tracy's house to watch the matches. This actually became a traditition for us after every match. The NFWA was underway! Stay tuned, it gets worse...I mean better!

I just wanted to write a special blog to let everyone know how great the Cham-Pain campaign is going! All of the e-mails to WWE and TNA are starting to make a difference! Alot of things are starting to happen for me and alot of opportunities are presenting themselves. Everything that's happening is because of all of my supporters and I want to thank each and every one of you personally. As I've said before "They can't ignore the fans" and we're getting closer every day to making this dream a reality. I've heard so many of you say that you would never give up and you've made a believer out of me! We have an army of people behind us now and we're on the attack. I just sit in awe every night when I think about the support that I have from around the world. It's truly Amazing!
Well, we have completed the first phase of the campaign and now it's time to kick it into high gear. In phase II the e-mails will be the most important part and any media will be a big plus. I'm about to do a mass media blitz and I have a few other tricks up my sleeve. If anyone has any new or exciting ideas please contact me and let me know. We need to keep blowing up the in boxes for both companies and let them know the champainiacs are here to stay! Hire Cham-Pain phase II is underway.
Sincerly yours,
Marty "Cham-Pain" Garner

After I wrote my first blog al ot of people wanted to hear more details about my story, so I thought I would break it down in sections on a weekly basis. The first section I will break down is the Teenage Wrestling Federation. Hope you're ready! I live in a small town in North Carolina called Vass. We have a population of 784 people give or take a few people. In 1991 I had decided that I needed to get my body in shape and started working out with weights. I had always been someone that loved sports and tried to play them all. I knew that to stay in shape I'd better start working out because I had seen a lot of guys after they got out of school just fall apart and their bodies didn't fare too well. Needless to say I didn't want to be one of those guys. One of my assistant football coaches(Donnie Bridgers) owned a gym in Vass, it's called Vass Fitness Center. I joined the gym in Feb of 1991 and began to get in shape and sculpt my body over the next few months. I noticed this young kid that would come in almost everytime that I was there, he drove a yellow Honda CRX and he was pretty big. He always wore tank tops and he walked with a certain swagger (as if to say hey "Look at me"!) as he would enter the gym. One day I was on the bench press and this muscle bound kid came up to me and said "Hey, man, you mind if I squeeze in with you"? I was like "Sure, come on" (even though I was thinking that this kid is going to embarrass me on the weights). We introduced ourselves and starting talking about what we did for jobs. He told me his name was Matt Hardy and that he was selling pine straw to make money. I introduced my self and I told him that I was working a land surveying job. We became pretty good friends and would work out together alot. One day he started telling me that he was going to be a professional wrestler, not that he wanted to, but he was going to become a professional wrestler! I thought Wow, that's pretty cocky, but whatever, he's kinda full of himself and that's ok. I guess in those days I was pretty cocky too! A lot of people around the area would laugh under their breath when Matt would tell them he was gonna be a professional wrestler. Some would say "come on, this kid is from Cameron, NC. What's he gonna do"! (guess theyr're not laughing now) Matt invited me over to his house one Saturday to check out his wrestling federation and I almost smiled because I couldn't wait to see this crap! Matt said that they would film the matches and make tapes and sell them to the video store in Vass, then the video store would rent them out. I was thinking I need to take one of my boys over there with me just to get a chuckle out of this. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Matt, but I was a little skeptical about his wrestling federation that wrestled on a trampoline. I showed up and like I had said before there was black plastic about six feet high wrapped around trees that enclosed a large area. The inside of the plastic arena was grafitti'ed with logos courtesy of Jeff who was Matt's younger brother. All Inside this enclosed area was a trampoline with four small trees around it that were used as ring posts, and garden hose wrapped around the trees made up the ropes. I looked at my buddy and we had big smiles on our faces as we approached this crazy ass wrestling ring. We watched as Matt was involved in a match with his brother Jeff (Wolverine) Hardy and it was pretty entertaining. After the match Matt came over to me and my buddy Cort Thomas and said "Hey man, glad you could make it". I introduced him to my friend and after watching another match Matt said "You ready to try it! I was like "Dude, I don't know", as I was thinking that it might be pretty fun. Matt said " Come on you gotta try it at least". I agreed to do it as long as Cort could be my manager. I told Matt that I wanted to be called "Sub-Zero" because there was a character on a movie called "The Running Man" that I thought was really cool. Matt agreed to my request and I couldn't believe that I was really gonna do this! My attire was paper thin white sweat pants ,a doo- rag, white tube socks, and a pair of black shades. When the wrestlers walked to the ring they would walk down a 4' tall skate board ramp. My buddy Cort walked out in front of me and was telling everybody that I was the man as all of the TWF guys were laughing, then as I was coming down the ramp my foot slipped and I slid down the ramp and almost fell. If the boys weren't laughing before they were really yucking it up now. Damn, how embarassing was that, I was thinking. Now, it was Matt's turn and he's wearing baseball pants and a Jason mask, and that was it. He was pretty jacked up and looked really intimidating. He came to the ring and bashed my buddy in the back and then came in the ring and bashed me in the back. The ref was standing outside of the ring, (an 11 yr old kid by the name of Shannon Moore) and rang the bell. Well they didn't have a bell so Shannon just said "Ding Ding". Tha match was underway and the hilarity insued. I gave him a suplex, an armdrag and a horrible backdrop. Then I though I would back flip over his head, I mean, this was a trampoline after all. I attempted my backflip and ended up landing on the back of my neck and everybody around the ring scattered and laughed uncontrollably. I was alright and then Matt grabbed me and gave me a finisher and I can't remember what the finish was to this day. Even though I was embarassed, I was hooked, my adrenaline was pumpin and I was excited to see the tape. Matt came over and shook my hand as he was still laughin about my backflip. He asked if I was ok and I said "Yes", he said "You did good, man". After that, I was a permit member of the TWF. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my new sites and my new and old friends for working their asses off to try to make my dream a reality. Check out myspace.com/champainsupporter's, myspace.com/champainbannersupportpage, myspace.com/cham-pain-iacs, myspace.com/campaign for champain, and HireChamPain.com. Thank you all so much!

I just wanted to start by saying "Wow"! I can't believe how much support I've received over the last week. It's really amazing! I just wanna thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. It's a very exciting time in my life! I have to admit there's been times when I thought of giving up on my dream, but I'm not a quitter! Someone once said to me " The definition of an idiot is someone who does the same thing every day and expects a different result". That quote inspired me to write that first blog and tell you about this amazing journey. Now, every day I smile when I read all your comments and messages because you've ignited a spark in me that I could never fully explain. I have fans all over the world now and one thing is for sure, the WWE can't ignore the fans. I mean that's what they want out of their wrestlers, asses in seats, right? When I get that full time position with WWE, TNA or a shot at ROH I promise not to let you down. Thank you for all you've done and will continue to do for my career. Don't give up on your dream, I'm not! I just posted an interview with Jon Carter of Megahertz studios on my myspace that I hope you'll enjoy. My name is Marty Garner, and my friends call me The Forgotten Beatle. I've been in the wrestling business for 15 years now. I've worked under the name of Cham Pain on the Independent Wrestling Circuit for the majority of that time. I have appeared on ECW, WCW, and made numerous appearances on WWE. I am writing this because I am at a crossroads in my life. I am no longer satisfied working Independent shows for little or no compensation. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the business and that is why I do this crazy thing we call Professional Wrestling. You see, I don't want to go to my grave without working for one of the major companies full time. That's why I need your help.
In 1991, I was working out in a small gym in Vass, NC when I met this young, musclebound kid by the name of Matt Hardy. He was telling me that he had a wrestling federation based out of his backyard. He asked me to come check them out. I showed up one Saturday while they were having some matches and almost chuckled. They had a round trampoline with four small trees around it for ring posts and garden hoses for the ropes. There was black plastic enclosing a sizable area with the "ring" in the middle, which made up the so-called "arena". Matt's younger brother, Jeff, had painted graffiti on the plastic arena walls. There was a young kid who was only 11 years old, and really small. The kid was the referee who stayed outside the ring calling the match, who you may now know as Shannon Moore. After a little encouragement, Matt talked me into working a match. It was the most horrible match anyone had seen. Matt came out in baseball pants, no shirt and barefooted, wearing a Jason mask. I came out wearing paper thin, white sweat pants, a pink tank top, a do-rag and shades, and of course, my white tube socks. After I defeated my opponent, that was it....I was hooked. If wrestling was crack, I'd be Pookie from the movie New Jack City.
After a short period of time, we met an older, burley, country man by the name of Kenneth Morgan who I referred to lovingly as "The Wooly Booger". He was a gentle, silent man who happened to have a wrestling ring. The ring he had was hard only on the sides with a long, rectangular trampoline in the middle. Matt and Kenneth worked out a deal that we would work some shows at the local fair using his ring. When I arrived at our first show at the fairgrounds, we only had 5 guys for the show. Matt was in a bit of a tizzy. Since I was an aspiring rap artist, I told Matt I could go out and kill some time either rapping or doing stand up comedy. I actually went out and performed one of my songs, and was really pumped after that. Each wrestler there worked two or three gimmicks that night, but we got through it. The first match I had in Kenneth's ring was just like the first match I ever had. Same opponent, same clothes, same finish. It was awesome! It's so funny to look back on those times, bouncing around on a trampoline, having a wrestling match in front of a crowd. It's kind of embarrassing when the boys see those old tapes, but also, it makes me very proud.
We actually converted Kenneth's old trampoline ring into a regular ring. Our federation name was the New Frontier Wrestling Alliance, the NFWA. In 1995, Matt went into business with a guy named Thomas Simpson. Thomas was the money man and Matt was the promoter of our new federation called the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts, OMEGA. This was a local organization out of Moore County, NC that groomed many of the wrestling superstars you know today. Such as Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore, Shane Helms, Joey Abs, Joey Mercury, Steve Corino, Bo Dupp, Jack Dupp, and of course me, Marty "Cham Pain" Garner. That's first name Cham. Last name Pain. The best kept secret on the Independent scene. This was the time when myself, Matt, Jeff and Jason "Joey Abs" Ahrndt started making sporadic trips to WWF shows. This was a big deal for me personally, because now my family and friends thought I was on the cusp of making it to the "big show".
In 1998, we were getting ready for a show in a local armory in Southern Pines, NC when Matt got a phone call. I was standing next to him when he got the call. He had a strange look on his face as he hung up the phone. It was a look of disbelief. Then I saw a smile emerge. When I asked who it was, Matt said it was Jim Ross and they wanted him and Jeff at RAW the next Monday. I remember being happy for Matt and Jeff, but at the same time, I was very envious of them. The show had a different feel to me because our leader was leaving us. The last show Matt and Jeff did in OMEGA was at Shane Helms' old high school. Shane and his partner, Mike Maverick, were baby-faces and Matt and Jeff, for the first time ever, were heels. Matt and Jeff really played up the WWF thing, and how they were going to be rich superstars and leave all this behind. The crowd hated them for the first time ever and they proceeded to have one of the best Indy tag team matches that I've ever witnessed. As I was watching the match, I remember the sadness I felt. Even thought no one said it, I knew OMEGA was finished. We tried to keep it going for a while, but without Matt, we were lost. He always handled everything from booking to storylines, set up, sponsorships, etc. He did it all. It wasn't long after that when Jason Ahrndt got a call from WWF to work as Joey Abs with the Mean Street Posse. Now, I'm excited because everyone, including myself, thought I'd be the next to go. After OMEGA, I still worked Independent shows, but they never held a match to what we had. I knew I needed to get my face on T.V. somehow, so I hit the talk show circuit. I did Sally Jesse Raphael, Montel Williams and Jenny Jones. I almost appeared in Playgirl Magazine, but my ex-fiance really disapproved. I was brainstorming how to get a job with a major company. So, myself, Murray "Bo Dupp" Happer, and Mike Maverick came up with a plan. We were going to be a family of rednecks from Lizard Lick, NC named The Dupps. I knew a guy that works for a T.V. crew out of California who said that his buddy could do a video for us. I wrote the script for the video. My name was Puck Dupp. Mike was Jack Dupp. Murray was Bo Dupp and my girlfriend at the time was May Dupp. The video was hilarious and it didn't have any wrestling on it at all. We submitted the video to ECW and got a call back from Tommy Dreamer who said he loved it and wanted us to come up for a tryout. Tommy told us when we got there that was one of the funniest, most original tapes they had ever received. They watched it 7 times in the locker room that night. We did our tryout and they put us to work for a while. Tommy pulled us to the side one day and told us we were getting ECW contracts in a couple of weeks. I was excited and called my fiance. Before I could tell her my news, she broke up with me, over the phone. The other Dupps weren't riding with me at the time, due to a misunderstand that had occurred between us, and I had to drive home alone with that on my mind. It was the best news and the worst news all in one day. What do you do? The next week the other Dupps missed a couple of ECW shows. On the third day when they finally showed up, I asked where they had been. They said Stamford, CT. I asked, "WWF"? They said, "Yes. We got jobs". I said, "We got jobs?" They said, "No. WE got jobs." I was only one day away from being immortalized on the ECW video game-but that didn't happen. Without the other Dupps involved, I was out of luck and out of the job that I'd always dreamed of. The contract never came. My money was running out, so I had to leave ECW and come back home. I had a couple of small bites from WWF but they never actually worked out, which still left me on the Independent circuit.
A couple of years later, at a local show in Raleigh, NC, a man named John Root approached me about doing some video game stunt work. He worked for Epic Games who are the creators of "Unreal", "Unreal Tournament", and "Unreal Warfare". He used my motion capture for both of the good guys on the game "Unreal Tournament 2003", and used Mickie James as the baby-face female. It was a lot of fun and it paid really well. About a year after that, John Root moved to another company and flew me to California to do some motion capture stunt work again. While I was in California, one of the guys at the studio asked me if I knew Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I said, "Yes, but I haven't seen him in a couple of years." I met Rock when I was doing some T.V. matches for WWE and we created a friendship. We went to the set of the "Run-Down" that night and as soon as Rock saw me he started quoting Cham-Pain lines. The guys that were with me thought that was the coolest thing ever! Rock told me to stay that weekend and go to a big wrap up party for the movie. I met Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake at an after party in Hollywood. It was a blast! That was in January of 2003. In March 2003, I went to WrestleMania in Washington State to watch my buddies, Matt, Jeff, Shannon, and Shane perform. While I was there, Rock got in contact with me. The next couple of days I hung out with Rock and his family. It was a lot of fun. I asked Rock if I should I go backstage at WrestleMania or should I just sit in the crowd (He told me later that when I asked him that question, it broke his heart). He looked at me and said, "Man, you're coming with me to WrestleMania." The next morning, Rock, his cousin, and myself walk out of the hotel doors into a sea of screaming fans. After we got in the limo, Rock pulls his shades down slightly, looks at me, and says, "You ain't never seen no shit like that, have you?" I looked at him and said, "Nope. Not in Vass, NC." We all got a laugh out of that and went on to WrestleMania. In May of the same year, I got a call. It was Rock. He said, "Marty, you've always been my boy. You've never asked me for anything but advise and I appreciate that. Now, I want to ask you something. How would you like to work for me on an upcoming movie?" I felt my legs get weak and my eyes tearing up as goose bumps covered my arms. I tried to man up and sound strong when I said, "HELL YES!!!" He told me in the beginning that it wasn't a full time gig. I told him that would be fine. I traveled halfway around the world with that guy, attending movie premiers, the CMA's (front row), the Super Bowl, and a long list of many things that I was very blessed to be a part of. We were in Prague in 2005 on the set of "Doom" when I got a phone call from my mom. She asked if I remembered a particular girl from my past, and I said,"Yes, but why?" My Mom said, "Because the girl claims to have your child." I said, "I haven't seen that girl in 11 years." Mom said, "He's 11 years old." I then flew home to take a DNA test. As fate would have it, it was truly my son. After discovering the truth, my son became a wonderful part of my life, and I love him more than I could ever tell you. Ironically, that was the last time I ever worked for Rock. We still keep in touch and will always be really good friends.
People still seem to always ask me if I could get autographs from Matt and Jeff for their kids. I don't mind asking for that, but at the same time it still bothers and hurts me. It seems just like yesterday that we were all together, wrestling in OMEGA, and now they're WWE Superstars. It's kind of like I'm The Forgotten Beatle. You know, the member of the Beatles who got lost on the way to the big show, right before their US debut. Suddenly, the band was recreated, with one less member. Please don't think that I'm bitter, because I'm not-I'm more driven than ever. I just want to say how proud I am of all my friends who have gone on to have successful careers in professional wrestling. I still occasionally work for the WWE, with my most recent appearance being April 25th, 2008, on Smackdown against Vladimir Kozlov. Now more than ever, I want my name on the full-time WWE roster. That's where YOU come in. If you believe in my cause, help me flood the websites of WWE and TNA requesting that Cham Pain be added to their roster. If you attend any WWE or TNA shows, please show your support by making signs and chanting loudly, "HIRE CHAM PAIN". I refuse to be denied of my dream. It's time to get the band back together. Thanks for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you'll help me make my a dream a reality.
