Current mood:  anxious
Dear friends, I know it's been ages, and that I also said that I wouldn't post here again...well I must have pulled a Jay-z lol. Back from retirement. No actually I was told by a brother overseas that twitter is a U.S. phenomenon and that they don't necessarily share the same affection in some major European countries lol so this is to keep our brothers and sisters in those countries in the loop. I just wanted to express the fact that I appreciate all the support over the years and that I am more than pleased to have been able to share with you first, my calling. I am as I have been stating, under a contract (that I love) and am looking forward to releasing my first big budgeted album this year. I have just come off of the Music one tour, a cruise for radio one, and am in the process of starting my new label Soul Model records. Oh and I was also featured in a book(will cite the title at a later point). Anyway, I am in the best place I have been in a while and am looking forward to some very big things and I'll keep you posted on what they are (trust me they are big). Anyway seeing as though it's late I'll end here but look out for some freestyles here and there, can't drop any albums until further notice but when you hear the new stuff....trust me it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime,

For those of you who don't know I ALMOST DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT a few days ago. The jeep I was driving was literally in the air on one tire, the one on my side across THREE lanes of traffic, backwards. Both myself and fellow artist Cost Cordero walked away without a scratch. Well, it wasn't time. Thanks for your prayers and support we're fine and now more of a THREAT than ever Watch!!!!

Current mood:  refreshed
Myspace fans, I would like to say that I will no longer be broadcasting from myspace.com/ohene I will be at reverbnation.com/ohene and twitter.com/theartistohene.
From these sites you will be able to hear about new Ohene music and developments with my career. If you are VERY interested in me and my work and would like to hear from me more often, twitter is best, however, I will update my facebook, reverbnation and twitter accounts as often as my time permits. Hope to hear from you there. And I am only dealing with TRUE Ohene fans from now on, so show your support and join the movement.
Love you all and let us begin.

Hello people, I'm trying to get the word out about my newest project. As some of you know, I haven't released a project in two years as a result of some of my new contractual obligations. I've also been touring with Classical harpist Jeff Majors so don't think I'm getting lazy. No, I'm actually always recording but as I stated, I am unable to release new material under my new contract. That's not a complaint, I'm actually glad to be in a position where I'll be able to release my work to a broader audience however my squad and extended family(some of you) get tired of waiting. With that said, I encourage those of you who miss me (and my crazy self) to download the FREE MIXTAPE titled "THE O FILES"  from my page. The project is a compilation of previously unreleased material from the begining of Rahm Nation through to 2008. The link is above the bio so enjoy.

Current mood:  amused
Ahhh! interesting huh? Well I said it, I Ohene, disagree with the musicians who tell fans that they are stealing when they download the music for free off of those sites that offer free music. Here is why:
First of all, if an artist releases a cd (officially releases) the artist has at that point decided to sell what he or she can actually keep to themselves by mass producing cds or whatever medium that the artist has chosen. Now if I the fan, go to the store and purchase a cd, I bought the cd right? I own the cd simple and plain. If I decide to break it in half or toss it out the window of my car while speeding down the highway at 100 miles(not that I do that lol) I can. But for some reason, record lable executives want to place a limit on what specifically I can do with a cd that I own in the case of file sharing. So if I bought the cd and decide I want more people to hear it by uploading it online, they are essentially saying that I can't and that it's stealing. Then, you are a thief because you are taking what I (who just bought and own the cd) has decided to offer? Doesn't make sense to me. What's next, they're gonna tell me I can't play the cd for my friends in the car?  With that said, here is WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THE MUSIC OF THE ARTIST YOU LOVE: I recently wrote in a verse "I ask people to support Ohene because they like me; co's if they buy me, another album is likely". What do I mean by this? Well, it'a almost free to create music provided you have the instruments or equipment, however, it is the recording packaging and promotion of the music that can literally cost millions. I have always said that if my music stopped selling, I would not release albums, that's not to say I wouldn't still create, but it just doesn't make sense to press up thousands of copies of an album that nobody wants so in a sense this is a bit of a revealation for myself in that I have to admit that I am making albums with hopes that you the fans of music buy it. Wow!!! even the radical rebel himself. All this to say if you really like an artist and their sound, you should go out of your way to buy their music not because to get it from sharing would be stealing, but because your support is what helps the artist continue to make available the music you love so much. I take this stance because I can honestly say that I write and produce only music that I personally stand by, I have never made available to you a product that I wasn't proud of. Many of you have been kind enough to write to me and tell me how much you appreciate my work and I am more than grateful for the support whatever the reason you bought the music but the one comment that stands out is when one of you say that whatever I put out you will buy even without having heard the songs, that to me is faith. And with that said I want to list some of the artist that I support everytime I can.

1.Prince-A musical genius who writes produce and arranges his own songs

2.Stevie Wonder-Writer arranger and producer of some of the greatest albums ever. Also a genius.

3.Jill Scott-Philly in the house, I think Jill is art pure expression, if she wants to cry she cries if she wants to laugh she laughs but all melodically and lyrically.

4.Kanye West-Simple and plain he makes the type of rap music that I presonally want to hear.

5.Nas-Lyrically is a great mind, and of late is making albums that are just as good musically as lyrically.

6.Dr. Dre-His musical sensibility and attention to detail is something I really admire, here is a cat who would rather not be heard for ten years than to put out a product that he felt was less than his best.

7.Lupe Fiasco-A new cat that definately has a mind that I respect. He uses surrealism at times as well as metaphor in his writting.

8.Q-tip-That abstract is real, the guy has such a unique way of thinking.

9.Karen Clark Sheard-A gospel singer who is what church folk would call annointed. This lady always manages to touch my heart with her sound. She's incredible.

10.Raphael Saadiq-I love all his work. period.
Underground artist I didn't shout you guys out this time because I don't have all day. I love tooooo many of you for this blog. Next time.
                                  Thank you,  Ohene.

Hey folks, first of all thanks for the the support everyone, and those who came to the crib to watch my first national T.V appearance in America. Jazz,Black, aunt Roz,Uncle Stevie,Treble Cliff Randy etc. love you guys. Thanks also to Jeff Majors and tv one for the opportunity to share my gift with millions. They spelled Ohene "OHENNY" but that's a common mistake because that is how it sounds phonetically, remember Ohene is a Ghanaian name.   Anyway that was our victory , especially those of you who were down from day one. So now it's on to more success, in a few hours God willing I will be in Houston for three shows with Jeff Majors so if you live in Houston come say whats up I look foward to seeing you. Oh, check out Jeff Majors.com or his myspace page for the details.  Love you all and see you at the grammys... I'm not joking.
