Category: Friends

My cousin from France came to Nottingham for a couple of days with one of his friends, he is one of my favorite cousin's because even though he's in his late 30's he can still keeps it real (smokes weed and can have a good time), so when he asked me to go to France with him i didn't think twice about it. He really didn't tell me where abouts in France he lived with his family so i had absolutely no expectations. It turned out that he lived in a little village called Feignies, which was right on the border of France and Belgium. I've never met his whole family before (his two daughters, 17 and 14) so i didn't know how they were gonna be like.
So i got to Feignies and on the first day i met his two daughters and his wife, iv met his wife before so i was cool about that, but with his daughters i really didn't know what to say considering that i spoke almost no French lol so i said hi and shit and that was that on the first day (it was quite late and a long journey getting there so i just went sleep). Before i went there i said to myself that i was gonna explore the place and try to get to know some of the people there and hopefully make some new friends.
The village he lives in is more of a "ghetto village" if there ever was one lol the reason why i say that is because it looked quite rough, the same as Sneinton where i live in Nottingham. So i stepped out of his house into the unknown with his son to play some football, suddenly i saw a group of kids coming towards which i expected to be his sons friends and so they were. They started talking to me in French and i had no idea what the hell they were talking about so i started speaking English to try to explain to them that i didn't speak French lol they got the idea. Even though i didn't speak French the language of football is universal so we just started playing football.
I really don't remember what i did that day other then play football with some of the local kids. The next day my cousin took me to a small town in Belgium called Monz, which is only a couple of miles away from where he lives (I'm definitely gonna go back there again). Basically Monz is like a historical town but is full of clubs, bars, restaurants and caffe's. Again i really didn't communicate alot to his daughters mainly because i was the outsider and the language barrier. That did change the next day when we had a barbecue in his garden. The day started with me and my cousin chillin in the back yard. His daughter was wallpapering her bedroom with two of her friends (later i became close to both of them).
My cousin wanted me to fit in more so he asked me to go upstairs and ask if they needed help. I went upstairs and into her bedroom and i saw a guy and a girl with his daughter. The first thing that went in my mind was the astonishment of how beautiful the girl was with his daughter and my hart started racing (thats what happens when i see good looking girls lol), i asked if they needed help and his daughter said no so i just went to the back yard where my cousin made a barbecue and i started eating.
Later they finished the bedroom and joined us in the back yard and started eating is well. I tried to "fit in" but i really couldn't say anything because they were all speaking French and i didn't understand what the fuck they were talking about. Then suddenly the guy (Bilale, i later discovered) said in English "don't be shy" so i said to him "if i knew what you was saying i would join in your convocation" but he didn't understand a word i said lol so then he told me that him and my cousins daughter (Yamina) and the pretty girl (Bouchra) where gonna go for a walk and if i wanted to come, i kindly said YES. That night i got to know Yamina, Bouchra and Bilale, the language barrier was still there but we managed to understand each other just abouts. The pretty girl Bouchra spoke almost no English at all so it was very hard for me to talk to her but i did as much as i could. His daughter was quite good in English and the guy Bilale was ok lol. My French Stunk though. Everyday i spent there they tried to teach me some French.
As the days went and the more time i spent with them i began to get to know more of there personalities. The boy Bilale is not like normal guys for example, he doesn't play football, he doesn't hang around with guys, he's more of a girl's best friend, and at the end he became a very good friend of mine. The girl Bouchra she is so funny and is such a nice girl and of course very beautiful lol, his daughter is also very kind a friend of mine for ever. I didn't just become friends with just those three, basically when the word went round that there was a English guy in the village almost everyone wanted to be my friend, every person i met in that village i can't say a bad word about. In particular a guy named Karim, his brother and a another guy named Malik, all very nice guys. Most of the people that lived in the village were Moroccan, Algerian or Arab or something.
I had so much fun there, as it is a small village, there isn't like a cinema or a town center where we could go so we just used to go hang around the village and take pictures and shit. Bilale did try to get me and Bouchra closer lol but i didn't want to give to much of myself away to her as i was unsure weather she liked me and plus i was happy just being very good friends. We went to Brussels for the day and Brussels is one big ass city, Bilale and Bouchra didn't like it because it was soo busy and there used to the quite village life lol. I'm so used to the city life so it was very refreshing to stay at a place which had peace and calm.
The day i had to go, i was very sad, i didn't cry but i was emotional from the inside, i did shed a tear later that night lol i miss that village so much, i miss all of them and i will definitely go back there sometime. I only spent a week there but it seemed weeks, iv never become so close to people in such a short space of time .
