Hi guys,
Just to let you know the lovely Ruth on Nation Radio debuted our new single America tonight. We'd be really grateful if you could all send her a mail at airplay@nationradio.com or text on the word NATION plus your message to 87474 requesting she play the track a little more.
Also just a reminder that we're playing Square Festival this Friday. We will be on the main stage at 6 o'clock, the same night as Supergrass. It will probably be bucketing it down but who cares - let's all just get hammered and have a good time. A big thanks to our good friend Tom who is filling in on guitar duties due to Rhys being away on holiday.
See you at square!!!
Luke

It is with great pleasure that we can today announce that our new single ‘America’, plus b-side ‘Nothing at all’, will be formally released on August 31st. You can now hear exerts of the tracks on our Myspace player. As an extra special thankyou to all of our fans we are giving away the single completely free. We know that everyone is skint at the moment, trust me there is no-one skinter than us at the moment!!! At the end of the day we want to be on your ipod/cdplayer etc and we hope this will give you a taste of what is to come with our debut album which will be released in October. We just thought it would be a nice gesture. So, on the 31st August you will be able to download the tracks completely free, all we ask in return is that you will sign up to our mailing list. We are aware that not everyone has access to the internet so closer to the time we will arrange to send cd’s in stamped addressed envelopes.
Both tracks have once again been expertly recorded and produced by Tim Lewis, (Note to bands – if you like what you hear, get up to Tim’s studio, he is a consummate professional and a really nice guy to work with, with incredibly reasonable prices) and have been mastered by Denis Blackham who has mastered loads of top bands in the past including Led Zeppelin and The Who.
The band needs to extend an extra, extra special thanks to Kara Seaman. Kara has done all the artwork for the single and has already done our album cover and we will definitely be working with her pretty much as long as she will stand us!! It has been refreshing and fascinating to see someone develop an incredibly basic concept that we came up with in to the masterpiece she has created. We had complete faith in her from the outset and she has exceeded our expectations in every way. She is an effing great artist and we love her!! I’m not sure if band artwork is something she wants to do more of but I would recommend anyone wanting a really professional artwork job done on their single, album, anything at all – you’ll note she also did the fab artwork on our t-shirts – get in touch with her now while you still can before we will all be admiring her work in national galleries! She is in our top friends, so contact her now!
July is going to be a really busy month for us we have already started to write and demo songs for our second album. It’s been a really refreshing experience for myself having hitherto written all the songs to have Tyler taking a real active role in the song writing. He’s a really talented guy and it’s great to have someone who can share my musical vision and it’s a real honour to have him in the band.
We will be playing Ystrad Rhondda Con Club on July 10th which we’re hoping will be a blast – we’ve put together a really great line up and the last Rhondda gigs we have played have been complete sell outs. So if you’re coming along, try and get there early. Furthermore there is our big Italian show that we’re really looking forward to – fair play, the promoter there cannot do enough for us, she seems completely cool and we can’t wait to meet her. We’re really excited about the whole thing, especially the fact that we’re playing a 90 minute set, this way we really get to show all of our songs rather then having to try and cut the set down. While we’re out in Italy we’re going to try and shoot a video to accompany the single ‘America’. Plus we’re playing the Square Festival on the Friday night supporting my childhood heroes Supergrass – we will be on stage around 6 so once again get there nice and early.
I hope all is good with you guys and we look forward to your comments on the single and seeing you in the very near future.
‘They'll kick you, then they beat you, then they'll tell you it's fair’ RIP MJ
Luke

Hello everyone, Tyler here, we are currently in the studio for the last time to finish off our album, Farewell Tragic Lightning Boy and thought it appropriate to let you know what's going on in our world.
So, 'All The Years Gone By' has just been mixed and it's fairly fucking heavy! It should be a storming opener. Only one more track to record and mix and a few touch-ups on the others and we're there! The album is expected (in theory) in October/November. Only a couple of years late!
In other news, some lovely people in Italy are paying for us to go play a mammoth set to a thousand locals next month, cant wait! We even get a seat on the plane each for our guitars! Rock 'n' Roll! I've been labeled 'jammy' by a few people because this will be my second free holiday of the year after my trip to Biarritz for a film festival. Well, I never win fuck all, so I'll take a free trip thank you! We fly to Milan, and the gig is two hours outside of the city. We're gonna play an hour and a half, and we've even got some (whisper) covers in place. We're also going back in January. Well, that's if we dont absolutely suck next month.
Speaking of covers, expect a special recording uploaded to myspace tonight.....a one-off, done in the live room in the studio with a room mic. Any guesses?
The new single, AMERICA, is on it's way. We've had some fantastic artwork done for us by our friend Kara (who has also done some artwork for our new t-shirts) and the single has been mastered and sounds great.
You might have noticed that some of the tracks on the page have been taken down, well, that's because we've re-recorded some and we want you to hear the new improved versions on the forthcoming album.
There will, however, be some additions to myspace in the coming days, along with the grand reveal of our new website! Keep checking thedondestars.com over the next couple of days!
There's plenty going on, and we promise to keep you posted on here, twitter, facebook, our new website and any other means, (also, check out our new wikipedia page!)
So keep checking back, and see you at Ystrad Con Club-Rhondda, Square Festival-Aberystwyth, and...Italy! :)

*Please note, our gig in London on July 9th is now CANCELLED*

Hiyaaaaaa I'm Steve the not so new
drummer for the Donde Stars. I though it was about time I made my
online presence known and gave you all some insight into whats been
happening within camp donde. Myself and Rhys have now done four
shows with the band and have been playing on the new album leading to
some interesting and insightful revelations. First of
all...... Rhys's onstage persona is evolving at an alarming rate
and will soon have its own chair by the bar at Dempseys. I'm
adjusting to playing kit (not my first instrument.) And my grueling
secretive drum face gurn practice sessions are paying off
nicely. Matt's photo shop skill's have gone into overload and he's
now managed to create an image of what the Donde's would have looked
like had they played Live Aid on ketamine. Luke has bought a gun
(not quite sure why.)
Also the album is nearly finished. Not
quite sure who played what and where but it is all there. And scarily
the next time we go to the studio Gethin our manager is coming along
for the ride. God knows what we'll get him to play as a guest
instrument but rest assured it won't be conventional. Perhaps he
could play the flugal binder. What ever he does I'm sure Thigh P will
make it sound sex.
Right O I'm off to make a toasty nice
meeting y'all

We’d like to extend a hearty thanks to Tom Robinson for playing ‘Bringer of the Dark’ on his radio show on Sunday evening. We’re big fans of radio 6 so it was quite a privilege to be played on there. If any of you fancy sending him and his producers some e-mails (introducing@tomrobinson.com) to play it again then we’d be forever indebted to you and offer you a fruit sherbert or something.
It looks like we’ll be ready to digitally release ‘America’ around mid April – it’s sounding ‘really good’ according to my mother, and we’re really keen to get it out in the public domain. We’re also going to do a run of cd’s to be used for PR purposes, but if you would like one let us know soon and we’ll order extras which you can have for cost price and they will be a real collectors item that you can share with your grandkids over some butterscotch candy and Blue Nun.
We’re planning on doing a video for America – if you know of anyone with any equipment, expertise or crazy ideas that border on brilliance, we’d really like to hear from you. If not, we’ll just have to video us kicking June Whitfield to death, and then who will advertise the ‘pay for your funeral now! – don’t be a burden on your family! If you die we’ll give you a carriage clock! Go on, you’re the perfect demographic for a carriage clock! How a bout a dvd player? You could give it to your grandson! Then he won’t hate having to visit you so much! Go on! Piece of mind for just 20p a month! Screw the heating bill! The Carriage clock will keep you warm inside!’ supplement in the TV guide.
Thanks, Luke

Oh herrow, I thought it would be a good idea to have a lil' blog to introduce the new half of the band, to you...the internet people.
My name is Tyler Rhys and I'm the new guitarist, and on the drums we have the awesome Steve Rodd. I think we're both just lovely. I'm slightly taller, but Steve does have a good beard.
Since joining the band a month or two ago I've had a blast and I'm really glad to be in such a honest, hard-working and talented band. Having been solo for so long it's been nice to come into a welcoming band environment and to make music.
So what the fuck have we been doing? Obviously myself and Steve have been getting up to speed, but we've also been recording more for the album which must come out early next year or it might start getting into Chinese Democracy territory! But the good news is, from fresh ears, it's shaping up nicely especially with the new addition...'America'. What a song! I wish I'd written it! It's a standout track for me and is most likely to be the lead single.
We played an acoustic set at Clwb Ifor Bach as a three-piece. It was my first gig with the band and I really enjoyed it. And I only fucked up about 3 times which aint bad. Thankyou to anyone who came to watch, and I can't wait to do hundreds more...with the volume turned up!
Though I've not been in the band that long, I think I share the same work ethic and I know 2009 is gonna be a big year for us and we're going to work our arses off. Singles, album, mini-tour, fridge magnets, you name it.
Well that will do for now, hopefully my mum will read this too and take the view count up to 2.
