Hey Y'all,

Our spring tours in Europe were nothing short of amazing. In March, we were so very lucky to be supporting the lovely and marvelous folks in Elbow around the UK, as well as playing a couple dates with those bearded troubadours, Fleet Foxes.

May, we hauled ass back across the pond for a full European tour, and were joined by lots of friends including Angela Desveaux, Ohbijou and Snailhouse. We also made new friends over the course of a trio of sold out shows with Eau Claire's favourite sons, Bon Iver.

We just came back from a rejuvenating and incredibly inspiring sojourn in Northern Quebec. We spent 3 weeks writing and recording at the sole cottage on the tranquil Lac Charron, North of Gracefield, Quebec. Our good friend Jarrett Bartlett (recording engineer behind Tin Fist and Glory Hope Mountain) came and documented the fruits of our labours.
Isolated with no phone or internet to suck up our days and only having a few gophers and hummingbirds as company, the time brought us all together, and yielded some of the best music we've written in years; we're pretty darn excited.

In a few weeks, we'll be heading out west to play at the legendary Dawson City Music Festival as well as the Calgary Folk Fest and a one-off in Edmonton with our pals, Belle Orchestre.

After that, we'll be spending the rest of our summer finishing off our new record, and getting ready for a few short fall tours before taking a nice long break before our new record comes out in Late February/Early March of next year.

Lastly, we finally fixed that stupid song-sample feature on our Myspace page, so if you were looking for the full versions of our tunes, they're back up, and we're adding a few lost nuggets from our back catalogue to boot.

Hope to see you in the months to come, and take care,

Rolf

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

So after a solid two weeks of holiday cocooning, I've emerged recharged by sweet times with friends and fam, good food and more movies than a person should watch in a day.

Things haven't been that quiet, as we've been planning our first forays into the US of A in support of the stateside release of GHM on March 4th. We're excited to announce that we'll be working with the nice folks at High Road Touring. Check out their roster...it's kind of ridiculous. Can't wait to open for Yo La Tengo...I've been dreaming about putting the moves on Geogia for so long, and now, it seems I may finally get a chance. That's after I hog-tie Ira.

It looks like we'll be hitting the US in late February (NY, Brooklyn, TBA), and then down to Austin for the annual music booze fest, SXSW.

Earlier today, our jaws dropped when we noticed that we appeared on KEXP's Song of the Day and were also played on NPR's Second Stage. I'm a huge radio nerd, and shows like Second Stage, All Songs Considered and This American Life give me little radio boners. Yum.

My girl cat, Peet, has started going bananas around Midnight. It's as if she's trying to tell me to get ready for a busy-ass 2008. I think I'm reading her right.

She is licking her teets right now...I think that means I should go eat some cereal.

ps. oh, and here's an interview from the Globe & Mail that includes an audio clip of an interview that 'rolfie' conducted with his moms.  (FYI: this is no longer rolf.  it's the Iron Ch*nk)

Okay, wow! Hey, so we are totally blessed to be on the cover of this month's Exclaim! magazine with a lovely (and very flattering) article by the talented Mr. Michael Barclay.

We were also lucky to have a little piece on the utterly neat-o stereogum.

Then there's the album coming out!! and the tour!! and an upcoming video!!

Happy October!

Howdy myspacers,

Are you folks still out there? Should we start a facebook group?

At anyrate, we of the Corn have been working deep within the earth's crust on our new LP, Glory Hope Mountain, which is being released via Paper Bag Records on Sept. 25.

A track from the new LP, entitled "Flood Pt. 1" is now available for your listening pleasure exclusively from Pitchforkmedia.com's ForkCast section: http://pitchforkmedia.com/article/download/44278-the-acorn-flood-pt-1-mp3stream

Give'r a whirl and tell us if it's shite or that it rewls or that it is neither.

Hello lovely follow creatures,
we are now departing from Ottawa, towards the west, reversing the paths our forefathers and foremothers took (they being the wind and the dark and the birds), to play a series of springtime shows. The winter is on life support, and the strange, gentle death to come will give life to birds, birds!
We really look forward to the mirth and music ahead, and hope you'll be part of this mirth and music, perhaps as a robot arm or a choral voice, a tweet hoot chirp caw, dressed in your finery, acting with kindness, helping old ladies renew their library books online, walking in a silly fashion, your beaks all shiny, etc...
Caw caw!
See you soon!
