yes indeed... many of you are already aware that i'm about to embark on one hell of an adventure. i won't be in contact with the "outside" world from may 14-21 (roughly) and june 22nd-august 12th. after that, i won't be online very often either, but i will be checking email and (hopefully) updating my blog from time to time (http://joncrocker.blogspot.com). I won't be on myspace or facebook very much at all, and i won't have cell phone service either.
i will still be making music, of course, i just won't be playing shows (for the most part) or doing much recording. i apologize to those who came to my recent shows that i didn't make it to. i will do my best to make it up to you somehow. love, jon

yup. it's true. i've got yet another new album out (i wouldn't wanna alarm anybody by only putting out one album this year or anything like that). it's called "revelation/revolution." it's a lot more electrified than most of the stuff i have out now. and it's kind of about the end of the world. as we know it. and i feel fine.
anyhow, it's 13 tracks long and you can buy it online by clicking the button for it on my profile page (it's only $5). i also made a page for it on soundclick.com where you can stream the whole thing! and you can buy individual tracks, if you'd like. that page can be found here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=895829 and, of course, i'll have them available for sale at my shows. so if you plan on coming to a show, i'd much rather you buy a copy then, as it'll save me money on shipping as well as the hassle of shipping the things.
i guess that's about it...enjoy! love, jon

yes, that's right kids! i've recently uploaded lots of old stuff to a lovely little website where lots of artists (such as myself) are just nice enough to just give music away. if you follow the link, you'll find old gnomophobes and continental light brigade songs (yes, the bands i used to be in), as well as some piano music i wrote back in 2000/2001 or thereabouts. i may be uploading more in the near future!
go to http://cllct. com/art/joncrocker to download them.
and while you're there, check out the other music that they have available. lots of it is very good, and a large number of the people making it are personal friends of mine. and i want you to hear them, too! so go already!
love, jon

so if it's booked, it has a venue name listed. if it's in the works, it says TBA. and if it says "help," or something of the sort, that means nothing is booked yet and whoever i've contacted about booking is shunning me for some reason (in other words, i'm open to suggestions and any assistance). so there you have it!
stay tuned for more shows in ireland and the UK in august, september, and october. there will also be walking treks in scotland, england, and wales (and maybe ireland), and some shows in germany in early october as well. w00t.

hello friends, fans, family, enemies, well-wishers and ill-wishers:
due to a number of reasons, i've decided that my current habit of endless touring is a bit much for me. read on if you want the explanation... it may be a bit hard for me to organize this in a coherent manner, as i'm just getting over a particularly drunken weekend that included dozens of punk bands, too much indian food, rain, drinking tea with a one-armed man who had just kicked his prosthesis around a bar while playing an accordion and singing about the imminence of death, and being peed on by an irishman. so try to bear with me. i'm getting old. well, maybe not old, but older. i'm 25 now, soon to be 26, and there is a growing part of me that feels like it needs to be rooted somewhere. exactly where that is to be, i do not yet know. but i do know that i have not felt properly rooted since the mid-1980s, and, while this has allowed me to move about the country (and world) with relative ease, i do think it is time to start thinking about finding a place where i feel that i truly belong. when i started touring, a part of me knew that while i may be on the road to share music and good times with as many people as i can, i am also looking for that one place that feels just right. so far, i have found many awesome places, but none that feel quite like home (though maybe some could be, with a little work...). in response to these feelings, i've decided that instead of touring for 10 months out of the year, i'm going to start cutting down...maybe to 6 months, and hopefully i'll eventually be able to get it down to 3 months of the year. this may sound funny to most (as so many do not travel much, if at all), but i do think i'm addicted to this freedom, and will probably never be able to quit moving around altogether. but with that extra time i hope to work, save up money (as it is currently my ultimate goal to have my own organic farm, and i will need money for that), volunteer on farms (gotta get me educated), spend time with friends and loved ones (and jake, of course), and perhaps think about starting my own family (wish me luck with that one...ha!). and as my grandmother is convinced that she is dying, i'd like to be around to see her off. but i will still be making music and playing shows (though less frequently), so don't think of this as a retirement, but more of a slowing down with age.
i suppose i felt the need to post this blog because i feel that my touring habits over the past few years have built up expectation that i can no longer meet, expectations that i'll get to certain towns or cities twice or more every year. so now i may only play in your area once a year, or even every other year (big loss, eh?). but that also means that you may just see me wandering around your town, looking for a place to rent, as i might have come to the conclusion that it could just be the right place for me to be. and if you see me announcing even more ridiculously long tours, then it probably means that i did my best to get settled, gave up hope, and will probably try again when these feelings come back (let's hope this wll not turn out to be a vicious cycle).
whatever the case, i hope to see you all again, sooner than later, but not never.
love, jon

hi everybody- for those of you who i haven't told yet, i wanted to alert you that as of last night, i will no longer be touring to new york by foot. as a result of overexerting myself last week, i have developed tendonitis in both my achilles. so i'm gonna be taking it easy for about 6 weeks until i'm fully recovered, as i don't want to do any permanent damage. the shows in trenton, montclair, and jersey city will still be happening (i just won't be walking to them). i really did enjoy the portion that i did walk (roughly 100 miles between york, pa and phildelphia, pa), and definitely plan on doing more walking tours in the future (once i'm back to 100%, that is). i learned a lot about how to better plan future walking tours. i want to thank many people for their help on this tour, specifically andrew and courtney, danny, lee and everyone at chaplin's, the cannon family, and most of all joe decarolis. and the next time someone offers to take you to a magic tree, you have no choice but to go. ;) love, jon

hi folks-
you may notice that i've got some new songs up. i've replaced saturday with tuesday (though scroll down my page for a link to a free mp3 of saturday, if you'd like), and i've also added THREE songs (including a re-done "i just can't say no") from the forthcoming re-release of "the dust will settle." it should be coming out next year, i hope (it will include new versions of 5 of the original songs from the old release, plus 6 new songs). enjoy!
love,
jon
