First of all, let me thank everyone who was there for Steel STRINGth this year!  We had the best time and raised quite a bit of money for the IRC.  All of the musicians were fabulous as was Lee Powell and his awesome Texas History.  Special thanks to Rick Larsen of 95.3 KHYI The Range for being our emcee!!  Love ya' Rick!!  The day was just wonderful and since the T-Shirts were ordered before we had the final line-up let me thank and list all the musicians who made this such a special day:

Hope all are well.  I was so excited to get my copy of "Hey Dillon, The Last Great DJ" in the mail today!!  It really is so interesting and a great way to learn more about one of my favorite DJ's.  Everybody should go to www.HeyDillon.com or www.myspace.com/heydillon and order a copy for yourself.  It is really cool and I was thrilled to be a part of it!! 
 
I just wanted to say a special thank you to Dean Augustin of The Good Fight, and of course Brett Dillon for including me!  You guys ROCK!!

It doesn't take long for news to travel, and seeing as how my phone rang off the hook last night I figured I'd just address the changes within my band immediately. 

 

It is true that Mike McShane and Colin Boyd wil no longer be playing with the CC Cross Band.  It was in NO WAY a bad break up, and Mike and Colin will both be dearly missed.  Both of these guys have been anchors for me in one way or another both musically and as friends, and I wish that our roads were still leading the same way, but as things go sometimes, they are not.  Mike wants to pursue things other than music, and Colin needs to spend more time with his own music and I need more time from a lead guitar player to accomplish my goals. 

 

We have made some changes already, affective immediately, including the addition of Kristen Drake as my manager.  Kristen will be taking a big role in taking care of things for me that I have been handling by myself the past three years so that I can go back to concentrating on what I love, writing, singing, and performing.  All booking from this point on will go through Kristen Drake.  In addition, we have brought on a new lead guitar player.  Stevie G, who has been filling in for Colin for a while when Colin couldn't be there, has agreed to come on the roster as the full time lead guitar player and I am very excited about what Stevie brings to the table.  Of course we will miss Colin, and Colin and I will still occasionally play our acoustic show together, but Stevie joining the band is going to take the band to great new places!

We are looking for a full time, serious, bass player.  We already have some really good leads, and are scheduling some auditions, but we are looking so if anyone reading this is interested or knows someone who might be shoot me an email.  Mike's boots are going to be hard to fill, as Mike has been with me the longest and helped me in more ways than I could ever explain, but I am sure that we will find the right man or woman for the job. 

 

Hope this clears up any possible b.s. about what happened and can I just say one more time, an enormous thank you to Mike McShane and Colin Boyd for all they have done for me and this band!!  You'll always be my brothers no matter where you are!!  I love ya.

I am thrilled to announce that Philip Adam's cd, "The Fiddler and the Rose" A Tribute, has been nominated for the 2008 Grammy for BEST COUNTRY ALBUM!!  I am thrilled for Philip, as he is a dear friend and supporter of my music, but also because I sang a duet with him on this cd and sang many of the backup vocals.

Well, we made it through round 2 and it was TOUGH!!  Not only is Steve Ferguson a CLASS ACT, but Steve and his guys put on one HELL of a show.  We had an AWESOME night in every way (if you are reading this, loved hanging out with you guys.)  Steve and I are going to play an acoustic show together next week and I'm really looking forward to it.

 

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO OUR FAMILIES, FRIENDS, AND FANS!!!!  Y'all are the BEST!!!  I can't believe how great you all are to have driven as far as you did to come support us!!  I had a friend, who has only been to a few full band shows, ask me why it was that all of my following were such really nice people!!!  WHAT A COMPLIMENT TO EACH OF YOU AND TO ME FOR KEEPING GREAT COMPANY!!!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  I LOVES YOU!!!  :-)

 

Thanks again to Brett Dillon, Adam Mitchell, and Deryl Dodd for judging last night and for being there to support this competition!!!  If you haven't heard the song Adam, Deryl, and Jon Christopher Davis wrote called "The Boy I Used To Be"  you are missing out!!!  What a song!! If it brings tears to my eyes, you know its a great one, and couldn't have been delivered any better.  (Yes, I am a Deryl Dodd fan, and that is further etched in stone every time I get to be around him!)

I can't wait to see what happens in the next three weeks leading up to finals, there are so many great acts in the competition this year, it really is an honor to be a part of it!!  Finals are Oct. 9th at Love and War in Texas Plano, and we can't wait to see you all there!!!  Thanks again so much to KHYI and SHINER!!!  I appreciate the hell outta you!!!

Hey Folks,

 

Thanks for stopping by.  Please mark your calendars for next THURSDAY, SEPT. 11TH, 8:00 PM at COACH JOE'S in FRISCO!!  We will be competing in the 2ND ROUND of the KHYI / SHINER RISING STAR COMPETITION!!!  I can't say enough how much Colin, Mike, Adrian, and I appreciated all of your wonderful support in the first round, so help us put some more steam in the engine so to speak and bring a friend or ten, and come out to cheer us on!!  Get there early if you want a seat, we are competing with Steve Ferguson, who has a great sound and a solid fan base!  It's gonna be a great night of LIVE, LOUD, TEXAS MUSIC!!!

 

I would also like to say that in honor of the date of the second round I want to personally dedicate our performance to the men, woman, and children who lost their lives in 9/11, and to all of the military men and woman who serve and have served our country so bravely every since.
