Hey ya'll!
We are just back from playing the Austin City Limits festival in Texas "and stuff".
We had an amazing time and were treated like kings!
We played the Austin ventures stage on Friday along with Yeasayer,
Hotchip, N.E.R.D. David Byrne and The Mars Volta, to name but a few.

We plan to post a full-length blog about the trip with photos over the next few days,
Along with a short film in a couple of weeks.

In other news our “need you sunshine” animated video, created by
Heroes for Zeros/Prickly Pear, has been nominated for a UK MVA.
Check out the nominations here… http://www.ukmva.com/

We are heading into the RTE 2fm radio studio on Tuesday to record three live tracks
With the current band and sound. Ill post links to this radio session when they are up on-line.

One of the tracks, “Registered user” from the “my sanctuary” album will be recorded.
I have not heard the album version in quite some time so I have dusted it down and
Just added it to the Player on the page.
The live version we are now playing sounds rather different and more rockin!

Later…..

autamata update

autamata return to the live circuit on thursday the 29th of may with a gig at the button factory in Dublin. They have also confirmed shows at Cuba in galway on the 26th of july (during the arts festival) and the Austin city limits festival in Texas on the 27th of september.More dates during the summer to be confirmed.

Support for the Button Factory show will be by Robotnik.

The current autamata live collective consists of a five piece band including drums, guitars and synth's with guest vocalists Carol Keogh and (when available) Cathy Davey. As always ken is at the helm.Reports from the auta rehersal room confirm that it will be a very intense upbeat show, combining the faster tracks from all three albums, so bring your dancing shoes along.

The next single "cloud seekers" is released on the 4th of May and features Cathy Davey on vocal's. It's a futuristic sounding radio hit that throws pop music on its head a bit. The vocal is very catchy, raw, pop and now , while the music is progressive yet hooky in its pounding. You can check it out on the bands myspace page.

Ken described the creation of the song as follows…..

"Cathy and I had not collaborated for a few year's. She did a couple of tracks with me for the first autamata album called jellyman and lets normalize.I was helping her develop her own stuff at the time before she signed with EMI. We met up again while I was writing the new album at my setup in wicklow and I played her some of the tracks I was working on which she liked and agreed to guest again on a song. She originally picked the track called "A drive through the countryside" and a day was set aside for her to come down to the studio and work on it.
After eating a nice lunch of roast salmon and salad we listened to that track and both decided it was better just as an instrumental. I played her another instrumental version of a song I had written called "we are aliens". It was this mental song about friendly aliens coming down to earth to show the way. I really liked the music but was not into the song anymore as it was just a bit too weird really. She loved the track and started writing a new song straight away.
A few hours later we had the whole thing recorded and mixed. We work well together"

They also have a new video for the song "need you sunshine" completed. It's a really colourful and cute animation from the heroes for zeroes/prickly pear team
and it's really worth a look at on youtube or their myspcace page.

Hello!

Greetings from Autaland!
Yes it has been a while.....and for that i am sorry but i do promise to keep in touch
a lot more.

Album number 3 is nearly completed and it will include 11 new tracks.
I recorded 18 in total so the best of the rest will be on a 4 track E.P.
Im heading to London on the 24th of October to get it mastered with Mike Marsh at the exchange so its decision time on the final track selection.

The profile picture on the page is a rough mock up of the cover and i am currently putting together
the rest of the artwork as we speak. This front cover is an original painting by www.jimmylawlor.com (check him out)
The theme for the rest of the artwork will include lots of photos from around wicklow where
I moved to record it.Its a very inspirational place and I think that is reflected in the new album musically.

The overall feeling the album generates is one of sunshine/travel/beauty and positivity.
So for this reason I am waiting to release it next february when gloom of winter has lifted.

In the meantime come and have a listen to the tracks (unmastered) as i rotate them over the
next couple of weeks and tell me what you think.I just added "sunshine" and "musics all we need"
a couple of days ago.

I am putting together some little movies of visuals, video's and a tour of the studio at the moment as well as compiling some of the best bits of various footage taken from the previous albums live shows and I will be putting them up on this page over the coming weeks also.
As the last two albums (my sanctuary/short stories) are currently out of print I was thinking of putting the two last albums up on alternative players on the page also for those who cannot buy it.Would you like that?

Let me know and pop in to say hi.....

Its good to be back!!!!!!

Ken
