End of Level Boss have enlisted the services of ex-Gonga/Ackercoke bassist Peter Theobalds.
The new line up have been buried in various rehearsal rooms writing their forthcoming third album.
Originally due for release at the end of this year through Exile On
Mainstream Records, the band have decided to delay the new recording
until early 2010 in order to fine-tune a collection of more "off the
wall" material.
EOLB have already written over an hours worth of new material, but plan
to keep twisting the ideas into ever more bizzare shapes before
entering the recording studio.
Expect more news once your holiday hangover has diminished!

From the free-flowing hand of EOLB's own Neil Mackay Grant, we present the Blisstrain Tour Diary:
Groningen, NL, 09/03/08
Once all five bands had congregated together for the first time within Vera's capacious poster-clad hall, with three van-loads of equipment scattered across the floor, the sheer scale of the Blisstrain operation became apparent. Seeing as this was a package tour featuring 5 varied acts on level-peggings, a short meeting had to be held in order to establish a logical running order and time schedule. There were no hiccups tonight, and although onstage collaborations between the bands were kept to a minimum, the cosmopolitan friendships between us all developed very quickly. Each group was clearly a fan of each other, so watching our respective counterparts from the front of the stage every night was a trend that was to be continued throughout the tour. It didn't take the modest attendance long to warm to the diverse array of acts on show, as the merchandise takings would testify. Each band played a short, professional set, laying down the gauntlet for the next 7 days of Blisstrain mayhem. Notable events included this being Neil's debut gig with End of Level Boss, and the cut-off of Groningen's water supply for the evening, due to urgent engineering works. Just as well there were infinite amounts of beer! No stranger to the effects of the demon-ale would be A Whisper in the Noise's very own West, who after spending the night competing in the spew-Olympics, ended up asleep in the hostel's lowe-bunk, complete with trademark cowboy boots still attached. Within the venue's basement bar, torrents of alcohol were downed and handfuls of international table-football games were partaken in, which Germany's DŸSE easily dominated due to Jari's impressively-deft ball-control. After accepting defeat over rights to a free youth-hostel breakfast, we eventually made our way up the steep steps to our not-so-sturdy bunk-beds. Soon we would all be joining the Minnesota cowboy in a snoring symphony, as a five hour drive awaited us all at dawn.
Hamburg, GER, 10/03/08
After all 3 vans had arrived at the centrally-located Hafenklang it wasn't long before we had an amp or cymbal case under each arm, shimmering down the stairs to the dimly lit basement area where two separate stages were being ambitiously prepared. After grabbing the customary filtered coffee and stuffing ourselves full of the impressive delicacies that were laid out in the dressing room, it was time to get started. Changeovers were swift, collaborations were a-plenty and the crowd-response mirrored what was arguably the best night of the tour. We would have End of Level Boss's Elenajane honking cheekily on the saxophone on one stage, whilst DŸSE punched out their infectious manic-blasts on the other....We would have We Insist ! showcasing their eclectic magic on one stage, whilst A Whisper In The Noise's Hannah harmonised tactfully with her violin on the other. The crowd simply didn't know what had hit them or where to look. Needless to say, it worked a treat! Afterwards in the venue's upstairs bar, a bizarre table-tennis game was taking place, which involved 15 participants taking alternate shots whilst circling round the table, only eliminated from the game if they didn't return the ball successfully. The Ping Pong-Punks were keen for us to join in and were all very laid-back and welcoming, although French sound-engineer Thibaut experienced a downside to their friendliness when he found himself stranded outside the dormitory all night after being abandoned several hours earlier. The rest of us conked out in drunken-heaps on the bunk-beds provided, blocking out the too close-for-comfort squeaking of the Hamburg rats.
Jena, GER, 11/03/08
On approach to Jena, it was clear that we were venturing into a very beautiful part of Germany. Although difficult to locate, the venue itself was a well-organised cavernous treat with it's deceiving graffiti-clad exterior making it look like an abandoned tower-block. You could be forgiven for thinking that a Sunday evening in the most rural stop of the tour would only pull a handful of people, but this proved to be quite the opposite. The place was crammed full of students and music fans of all ages, each band being greeted to great enthusiasm and applause from the towering stage. None more-so than Jena-based DŸSE, who had half the town turn-out to see them play an utterly convincing and pummelling set, even inciting the tour's first mosh-pit. Everyone was on a real high due to the nights overwhelming success and congregated inside the venue's back exit, taking full advantage of the free beer that Kassablanca provided. The loud decibels resonating from our increasingly boisterous gathering even prompted the venue's stewards to politely request some hush. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out why the equipment load-out took twice as long! However, after eventually being ushered out of the building, the convoy of musical oddballs then shuffled the 5 minute walk to a nearby hotel. The room adopted by We Insist's Étienne and EOLB's Roland and Neil somehow ended up becoming 'The Party Room', but not half-an-hour into the drinking and smoking festivities, the group were informed that it just so happened to be the only designated non-smoking room in the entire hotel! Not to be deterred by this fact, the quick-thinking Elenajane decided to climb-out of the second floor window and have her cigarette on the hotel roof instead. The laughs kept coming the following morning over breakfast, when Neil's remote-controlled fart machine made it's debut Blisstrain appearance.
Munich, GER, 12/03/08
Due to the venue being tucked-away within an industrial estate, it was difficult to get a true feel for the Bavarian capital. Not long after the gear was loaded into the small youth-club-like hall, cracking thunder sounded and torrential hailstones the size of mini-golf-balls battered the ground. It was difficult to tell if the weather was responsible for the gloomy atmosphere that blanketed the Blisstrain camp, or if it was a result of last nights antics in Jena? Perhaps it was both. Soon the bands took to the stage, determined to overcome the days lull, but most of us found ourselves battling against poor acoustics and subdued atmosphere. It's fair to say that we received about as much support from the small crowd, as we did change from the extortionate Bavarian service stations. Not even the sight of Beehoover and We Insist ! members whacking their newly-bought cowbells along to End of Level Boss's closing track could wake the crowd from their apathetic spell. The motive for the post-show boozing seemed to be more out of commiseration and frustration rather than the celebration we were all used to. The following morning to add insult to injury, one of the 3 tour-vans was pulled over by local police upon leaving Munich. Not only did the power-happy fruitcakes passport-check and bag-search every individual concerned, but they even insisted on our driver providing an on-the-spot urine sample. Now that's what I call taking the piss.
Dortmund, GER, 13/03/08
The venue was located in what seemed to be a residential area of town, a flat, clean, low-level building with two spacious adjoining dressing rooms. The weather had returned to a climate that was typical of German springtime, and the sound-desk appeared to be worth a few thousand euros more than any of the others we were used to. In fact, you could tell this without even looking, as the sound quality tonight was impeccable. After the Blisstrain's derailment in Munich, there was a notable determination amongst all the bands to succeed tonight. Ingmar's stentorian-roar led Beehoover through a typically vibrant set, A Whisper in The Noise delivered more of their trademark thought-provoking gems, End of Level Boss rattled through an energetic space-sludge riff-o-rama, DŸSE's expertly controlled visual and audio madness simply couldn't fail to impress, and the criminally-infectious We Insist ! showcased their colourful oddities to an audience that knew they had received more than their money's worth. Andre's [DŸSE] post-show frustrations over the onstage volume quickly disappeared at the sight of Elenajane's inventive fruit-come-human models that decorated the dressing room table. After the inevitable alcohol intake, we drove the short distance to an out-of-town youth hostel, where the slightly over-helpful host cut our morning eggs and filled our glasses obsessively.
Berlin, GER, 14/03/08
It took us at least an hour to negotiate our way through Berlin's Friday-rush-hour traffic, but the city's astounding architecture certainly soothed our impatience. Due to there being a local train-strike, the narrow venue was virtually empty to begin with, but once the delayed commuters finally arrived, it it became crammed like a tin of sardines. The receptive Berliners lapped-up the musical diversities on offer, and it was satisfying to view their baffled excitement at the collaborations taking place over two stages on either side of the hall. Straight after the show there was a gay disco happening in the same venue, so by the time tonight's closing-act We Insist ! approached the end of their set, many of the audience members were geared-out in feather-boas, leather whips and figure-hugging PVC outfits. This certainly made things more interesting. As soon as the show was over, the entire crew made it's way up to the mega-spacious backstage area, where an infinite supply of complementary ale flowed. It was one of those evenings where everyone was up for the party, with the exception of Ingmar who had sadly taken ill due to a nasty virus. Some danced ridiculously to the tasteless 80's music provided, others continuously clinked beer bottles in boyish triumph, while the rest of us simply looked-on and laughed. Eventually the party had to end, and whilst a handful of us ended up crashing at Andreas's Exile on Mainstream headquarters, the majority of us slept in a nearby youth hostel with an early rise to look forward to the next day.
Brussels, BEL, 15/03/08
Whilst capturing outside-footage of the venue on his camcorder, a certain crew-member was quickly asked by some shady-looking locals to stop filming immediately. This should not have come as a surprise, as this particular area of Brussels was said to be one of the worst crime-spots in Europe. In contrast to the run-down streets, the venue itself was spanking-clean and well-organised with a stage the size of a tennis court. The incredibly long sound-check contained a few shocks; the normally bushy-faced François from We Insist ! appeared onstage completely clean-shaven, and Harry had the misfortune of experiencing a few shocks......from his microphone! Although the turn-out for the gig itself was rather low, the sound-quality and strength-of-performance from all the bands more than compensated for this. It wouldn't have been wise to leave our equipment overnight in this crime-riddled area of the city, so we drove to our pre-booked F1 hotel on the outskirts of town, where a new star was born.......Éric from We Insist!. One minute he would come crashing into the hall-way wall after being launched from his hotel-room half-naked, the next he would be prancing out of a nearby fire-escape like some demonic fairy, only 2 seconds away from activating the fire-hose that was held menacingly in his hands. This was almost as amusing as passing-by Beehoover's room, where Ingmar and Svend could be spotted cutely tucked-up in bed watching pornography. It wasn't long before a female resident from upstairs had the balls to come-down and complain about the noise we were all making: "I don't know if you guys are on spring-break, but I'm from Indiana and I'm 58 years old, so I plan on getting some sleep" Classic stuff.
Den Bosch, NL, 16/03/08
After all 3 vans had parked by the side of the venue, we all congregated by the 'End Of Level Bus' where the hilarious and cringe-worthy tones of "Metal Christmas" blared out onto the street. Due to it being the final date of the Blisstrain tour, an emotional atmosphere surrounded the camp, and a determination to go-out-with-a-bang was clearly apparent. Each band at this special afternoon show performed a set that was very well received by the enthusiastic Dutch crowd. Such was the success of today's collaborations that it almost felt like we were all part of the one set, rather than five individual ones. The crowd even seemed to enjoy Harry's guitar-throwing outburst during End of Level Boss's second song, thinking it was part of the stage-show rather than a frustrated reaction to Europe's weakest guitar sound. By the time set-closers We Insist ! reached their last track, around 10 other band-members joined them onstage to ensure that the Blisstrain was seen-off in a crescendo of orchestrated madness. Some were hitting rubbish-bins with drumsticks, while others brought acoustic guitars onstage knowing full-well that they were inaudible. Once the show had finished, we all dined in the canteen where tour-manager Wencke handed out our donations to key members of the crew; We Insist !'s expert sound-engineer Thibaut, for his invested time and effort ensuring that everybody obtained a great sound, and Mühle for his punctual and reliable driving skills and endless cabinet-shifting endeavours. After moving the crowd with some impressively heartfelt screaming a few hours earlier, it was now Exile On Mainstream label-boss Andreas's turn to be moved himself when presented with a personalised 'I survived the Blisstrain' t-shirt. The appreciation was reciprocated generously when Andreas handed-out scarlet-red Blisstrain tour-shirts to every single musician and venue worker. The red-army then marched on to a nearby pub for a drink-or-nine, countless games of pool, and an opportunity to bid farewell to some departing crew-members. After much drunken staggering, piggy-back tomfoolery and 'had-to-be-done' hedge-jumping, we eventually arrived back at the venue where the promoters had kindly allowed us to stay. The few of us that were still standing partied-on in the basement office like maniacs until 5.30am, so intoxicated that we were unaware of the cheesy-stench radiating from Andre's feet when we finally went to sleep.
