With the release of Tides And Tides on 7th December, we figured it was appropriate to not just do the usual Belfast release party show, but have a release party weekend across the UK...dates below:

4th - Belfast, Auntie Annie's
5th - London, The Luminaire
6th - Glasgow, Nice N Sleazy

See ye there!

Hey kids,

This gig on saturday could be well busy so perhaps its an idea to get down early and get your tickets sorted or buy online at ticketmaster.

Timmy and I are flying out tomorrow night from London, so a morning quickie with the boys (rehearsal) then we're playing late saturday afternoon (between 4.30 and 6.30) We're pretty pumped to see some of the other amazing acts, should be a stonking few days!

See you shortly,

Neil.

Hey,

So we've tracked the new album and its safe to say that it's going to be good, real good. The rough edits and mixes David has sent me are brilliant and i'm really into listening and rehearsing along in a drum room here in London.

Its been a strange process recording this album as Tim and i are in the big smoke and David and Matt are in belfast, but we've achieved it! I started the drums just before Christmas, actually the day after i played my last show with The Knights at The Rifles Ep launch.

The session was meant to be a "tester" but turned out so well with Mitch and his drum engineering skills that we have kept those originals of 'indigo' and 'left alone' (working titles perhaps) and went on to work with Mitch on tracking the rest of the drums. That was all wrapped up in a few days and i haven't been present at any of the other recording sessions, in-fact during this project all four of us haven't been in the same room once. Weird considering on the "a kind of crusade" sessions we were together in one zero zero studio for a summer pretty much.

Some folk would maybe say that this would result in the sessions sounding disjointed, rushed or maybe lacking in 'feel' some what, and i was pondering that myself but that hasn't been the case at all. Actually the recordings are full of 'feel', passion and unity. Each of us only had a small window of time to write and record our parts which resulted us in having no time to over analyze our parts or get precious about them instead it made us play out of instinct, purpose, necessity and sheer excitement at playing these new songs early on.

David has done a great job writing these bunch of songs and engineering on this album. His part is done, now its a waiting game as i crack on with the artwork and the record gets mixed in LA by Brad Wood.

David sent me this text recently;

"a jiffy bag with 3 usb sticks is currently on its way to valley village, California- this is gona be good..."

Thanks for reading,

neil.

Greetings everyone!

After chatting to a friend the other day who told me that we (the Hotel) were on hiatus, I thought it best to do a little public message. I mean, Blink 182 are on hiatus, and we all know what that means...I thought we were on a well earned rest after slogging it for 4 years, so nope we ain't on hiatus, we haven't split. We're still here, just resting til Christmas.

So in the meantime, myself and the lovely Dianne got married in June - and Davey and his splendid Rebecca just got married on Monday. Hopefully there's some pics hooked up below:

And in some non-marital news, we really have been working on new material for the next album. Wahey. Drums are down for a couple new tunes, I reckon we're past the half way to two-thirds mark in terms of songs - so the plan is to hit the studio early in the new year, and drop the record (like it's hot) before the summer. So take heart my friends, if you're still reading our blogs, good things are ahead.

Ok and make sure to take heed of A Little Solidarity which is happening mid-November in Belfast, we'll not be playing for obvious reasons but planning to be there...support the cause!

Peace

Well what a nice Thursday it's been. Last night we played at NvTv studios for the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast, in a very small, very very warm room. Parched. But nonetheless a great night to be enjoyed with a choice audience, our chums Panama Kings, and the good folk at NvTv.

Also, very unexpected news that the A Kind of Crusade vinyl release is album of the week on Huw Stephens' Radio One show, as of last night! A wholeheartedly grateful tip of the hat to Jimmy Devlin, Rory McConnell and Huw.

And triple whammy, Crystal Fists video is now online, courtesy of the myspace page. Second tip of the hat to Connie Hunter (and Craig too)...

Peace

Morning folks!

We are now drawing to the end of this little spell away, which has brought us to London, about to head north to Lancaster for a wee show tonight.
So we've had a really great time away - first Scotland for a couple of shows, doing a little personal goal of putting a King Tuts notch in our belts. Dundee, then a couple of days off before a substantial Glasgow to Harwich drive to get ourselves to Holland.

Merchinator Graham Brown joined us for this jaunt, serving a good few hours at the merch table, but mainly serving as chief instigator of mighty craic, inappropriate farting, and banter tech as it's been described.

One of the highlights was that we didn't have anywhere to stay sorted in advance for four nights in NL, and seeing as it's hitting spring, we threw a couple of tents in the back of the Big Unit.
First day we drive around near Zwolle, following campsite signs, and end up at a farm with a couple of caravans in a field. Turns out it's actually a campsite so up go the two-men tents and we have a little kip before the show that night in Het Vliegende Paard (The Flying Horse). Come back later that night and there's ice all over the tents, but suck it in, we're here now so bed down we must.
Two hours later, wake up to sound of mental moo-ing and the feeling of freezing cold from the waist down...Turns out a cow gave birth in the middle of the night, and also we realised one needs to wear at least all the clothes you were wearing during the day, plus more before jumping into the sleeping bag. 30 minutes in a hot shower later and fairly normal temperature slowly returns...

Day 2 brought us to Amsterdam, doing tourist-y stuff, and trying to avoid getting knocked down by all the oodles of cyclists.

Day 3, now this is where the fun really starts. Dave and myself had been to this theme park in West Holland called Duinrell as kids, so in an effort to re-enact our childhood we hit this place, and did we hit it hard...Massive selection of water slides and other such fun. 8 hours of that kind of fun tires a boy out, so off to sleep in the trusty two-mens again.

Day 4 to Nieuwendijk, which was a really small suburbian area with one cafeteria, loads of houses and one brilliant rock venue. We had 5 hours to spend before soundcheck so we hit nearby Breda, where they were doing a world record to make the world's biggest cup of coffee, I think it was supposed to be a cappuccino. 23000 litres later and hey presto, well done Breda, you've earned a place in Mr Guinness' book.
Show in Xinix was so good, 2 minutes before we went on, there were 6 people there, and suddenly about 120 people just appeared to watch us. What good timing. You can check some photos of the show here.

Day 5 was back from Utrecht to Hook van Holland for another 8 hour ferry session. 2 coffees and 4 episodes of Long Way Round sorted this brother out rightly.

Back to London for another video shoot on Monday, this time for Kid Go Get It, which is a track from album number two. We'll not be airing it for a wee while so don't get all excited just yet.
The very talented Karen Hopley was taking care of directing/production and general storyboard stuff, we provided our mugs and rock, and the also very talented Henrik Potter lit/gaffered/best boyed and generally helped a great amount, as well as a well oiled machine of 5 other lovely peeps. A good solid 13 hour day followed by a curry session on Brick Lane = good work.

So that brings us to today I think?
Onwards and upwards...

Matt
