As some of you may remember, our first show was last year at Santa Clara University with a band called Avenue Rose. The show ended early because of a fight between friends of Factory Minds and the other bands on the bill. Despite this, Travis of Avenue Rose kept a good attitude, accepted my apologies for my friends actions, and later on tried to get us another show with them in SF. We also had some talks about possibly releasing a FM record  through a record label that Travis was planning on starting.

Although I didn't get to spend much time with Travis, he left a warm impression on me, and was the perfect example of how musicians should be: kind, friendly, smart, unifying and helpful.

Travis died in his sleep two days ago while touring with the Cute Lepers. Our condolences go out to his friends, band mates and family.

We just got a mastered version of "Better Days to Come." This is the first time we have ever gone into the studio with a producer, and we're damned pleased with the results! Ray Stevens, who played in the Faction and produced bands such as One Man Army, did a phenomenal job on our new EP.

The new EP was recorded in November of 2008 by Joe Clements at the Compound, and mastered by Nate Allen at Last Drop Mastering.

We're going into the studio this weekend (Nov. 1,2) to record 4 songs at the Compound. Ray Stevens did some preproduction for us (aka whipped our asses into shape) and Joe Clements will be working the mixing board in the studio. We are going to self release two songs on vinyl and MP3, so keep an eye out for these and other recordings.

We’ll be self-recording our demo on the weekend of April 11, 2008. The recording will take place at SURGE’s humble abode, and it will be engineered by the BARON and MAXIMUM WAGNER. Tracks on the demo will include: Factory Minds, Tragedy of the Commons, Rhythm to my Blues, the Tank, Acid Rain and Mtv (there will be better days), and possibly a cover of Reach the Rock by Havana 3am.

If everything goes well, we’ll have mp3s up at the end of that weekend, otherwise you all will have to get your factory fix on Monday at our first show, this Monday.
