Benny and The Jets Band CD # 4
Merry X-mas CD

This 6-song EP is a music Xmas card from Benny and The Jets Band to you. The album is full of sonic frolic as it is a smiling, joking, dare I say jovial seasons greets. The opening mock-live "X-mas Boogie" sets the mood: rocking and hilarious. "X-mas Wish" is a reggae Xmas tune that I wish I had known about years ago when I was substituting on a reggae radio show on Xmas Eve and a caller requested Xmas music, but I did not want to break form too much. The album is full of funny asides and sound bites, like the "brrr" in the background of " what fun it is to ride/In a one horse open sleigh" on "X-mas Bells". The real standout track here, though, is the yuletide genius of "X-mas Dittie". It is, with sax solo, a medley of "Who Do You Love?", "Hey, Bo Diddley" as "Hey, Santa Clause" and "Hush Little Baby (The Mockingbird Song)" with its lyrics of buying diamond rings and more. (4) Including the "X-Mas Twist" which was played on CKLW radio and on the original Benny and the Jets 1970s LP

This was a CD review of the original 2001
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The new re issued X-mas CD -W/Bonus Tracks - The bonus tracks includes Last Kiss a cut from the Voice of America heard in 59 countries which was a cut from CD #3 recorded in 1994. Johhny B Good -recorded at LIVE at the Thunderbowl in Allen Park Mich, "The Oldest Rolling Stone Fan" A song which is from the French Moive Sound Track "Of the Rolling Stones" and Little Red Riding Hood from the first Benny and the Jets LP which was recorded in the 70s!

Benny and the Jets Band
#1 LP recorded in the 70s
#2 LP was recorded in the 80s Live at the Toledo Sports Arena
#3 originally released as a cassette in the 90s later on CD included the song "Dumb Girls"

Good times growing up in Detroit ... Benny and the Jets Band >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hi Benny.. checked out your website.. I like it.  I was at the Dawg House
on Vanborn recently and a gal their named Debbie wrote this message on
paper for me to send to you it says:  Tell Benny .. Debbie (crazy cycle
bitch)  T.Rs friend said hello!  and tell muffler Joe Hi, ain't seen you
since 1994.  Play that old song... bitch is back in black  love ya.
That's it Benny. She seemed like a gal that don't take no crap.  But a
nice gal.  Hey check out my web at lhubbard@larryhubbardmusic.com   Hope
your doing fine.  Your friend Larry.  Keep on pickin and I'll try and
catch one of your gigs soon.

That's how long it's been ! I was a bass player from Livonia. Still think about the Michigan Palace days.....great times.

Anyway I was trying to google the SRB band site....couldn't find it, and you're site came up.  So since I'm here I thought I'd say hi.
You might remember me by a group of musician friends of the time. Rob Noll, Mark Sadowski, Lenny Ribar,Steve Gornall, Jerry Smith, Jim McClarty, Phil Bryant, and many more.  I still keep in touch with them.

Anyway it would be nice to get a reply from You.

I'm just gettting back into playing again after 20+ years.

                                             Randy Bernard

Hey, not in Livonia, live in Clarkston,Mi. next to Pine Knob. It's odd you mentioned Kevin Russell, sorry I don't think I ever met the guy, but. Jerry/Lenny Smith (Changed his name to Lenny) did a cd with Kevin Russel producing, and his brother, Brad, playing bass. It's called Lenny Smith and friends featuring Chicago Bob. It's very good. Lenny is going to Memphis, from L.A. in November, I guess doing some video and movie shoots.

I don't know how much of this crap you want to read, so I'll just blast away.

Jim Mclarity is a preacher, in Tenn., former, drummer for 707. He played on a recording a couple months ago with my sister, Renae, the first time he played in 15 years. It sounds pretty good. The last gig my sister played was opening for the Eagles on the "hell freezes over" tour.

Phil Bryant is currently working with Kelly Green, from Fridgid Pink putting a group together for touring. The last I heard they were still looking for a slide guitar player, and a fiddle player. There are some problems with using the Fridgid Pink name again.

Lenny Smith, works running sound, at a club in Hollywood, managed by Steve Doureghty, a guitar player from Livonia. It's called Boardner's.(www.boardners.com).

I don't know if you knew Catfish Hodge, but he has some very good music out.(www.catfishpond.com).

I could go on an on, I'm just getting ready to start playing again, haven't played in 20 years. The only thing that's out there on the net about me is in (www.dbnight.com) that I know of. If you go to the site go to contacts, go down to broadjam-taxi. Mike Lasco, the engineer of our first alblum owns taxi and put a lot of songs out there for free. This band totally ripped me off....that's why I quit playing music!

If you want me to ramble on let me know,

                                                    Randy

you will know a lot of them people there ..

Ok BENNY, I feel like a historian, and having a lot of fun. Years ago I played in various bands, after I came back into town, from doing the national show-band touring stuff, was in Roy Clarke's band, The Mandrell Band, and a Bob Hope Tour. The first band I joined back in town was called Wonderland. This band was an increadible group. Dave Daniele played keys & Sax (now in the Sax Maniacs, Big B and the Magic Bullets, and The Real Deal Band). Formerly with the Dittlies, and the Dick the Bruiser Band. The guitarist Dennis Farac, was the guitar player for Barry Mantilow, he now plays at "Bahama Breeze" in Troy doing Regea type stuff. The other keyboardist for this group is currently touring with George Benson, Thom Hall. The Vocalist Robin Beck, www.robinbeckrocks.com. has done very well. Check out her web site. The drummer, Steve Zoyes I can't find lives in Fla. somewhere.
I played in several bands. The project I'm wanting to get started is with Joe Memmer, he's a fantistic song writer/ guitarist. He worked with Robert Stigwood & Earl McGraff ie. the BG's producers. He and I played with Dave and Marc Gilbert. Dave later went on the the Rockets. His brother Marc played with Joe and I in a band JEM. And later Marc was the singer in my band Magnum, and Mr. Big, I later let the guitar player use the name and Kieth went to England and had some success with the band. As you may know Dave passed away. Marc after leaving music, joined the Circus, I think the Royal Hanniford, married a Russian trapeeze artist, and is living in Seattle. He was also the vocalist for Adrenilen.
I don't know if you know this, but Dave, and Marc's parents were both deaf and dumb. When I would go to their house, had to use sign language. Very odd two sons with golden voices.......both total fuck-ups coming from that family.

Any way I guess Kevin Russell is movin to Los Vegas, with his brother Brad. Got a gig playing a broadway type show "The Jersey Boys", a Frankie Valley Tribute. From what I hear this will be an indeffinate stay.

Hey I didn't get a chance to ask you. Are you still in the Detroit area?

OMG in could go on for ever...............

                              Randy

Hi again,

I think you're gonna get friggin' sick of these e-mails!

But this is one of the most inseresting things I've come across.

When I was in the band "Missing Persons" we played some local concerts with a band "The Cadallic Kids" We were all buddies at the time.

Chris (the bass player for the group) came up with this invention that won him an award from Harvard University. As a former bass player maybe you can appreciate this. I don't have a web site for this, but you can go to google and look up "bogdon bass box". The singer for this band has a web site on myspace called spazville.

I'll let you know what Joey, and Roger are doing when I know something.

I just luv this, historical old time stuff, hope you enjoy it too.

Hi Benny,

I went and saw Rob Noll play Sat. nite. Wished Ma Noll a good farwell, she's moving to Fla. Oh my Rob sure can play! very impressive as a single act.

I talked to Jim McCarity on the phone today. I told him you and I e-mailed a couple of times. He says he remembers you from back at the sandbox-jam days.   He told me that Joey Casterdale lives in Little Rock, Ark. He's some sort of an investment agent or something like that. Jim thinks he's playing in a band there called "the exutives". I don't know what Roger is doing.

I'm getting my playing gear back together... very exciting. It's been so long. I miss my svt! I went out and bought a B2 RE Ampeg amp yesterday, and sat around and played my different basses. They each have a very different sound. I have a '72 black Fender Jazz bass, '75 white/yello'd  Fender Precision, a newer Fender Precision Squire, Washburn Force ABT, and an acoustic style Epiphone. This Epiphone sounds awsome......but it's almost imposible to play, a very big body. Still like the '75 P bass the best

Any thanks for the e-mail links...very interesting

                                               Randy

Wow, Do you know what Marsha is doing these days? She was the singer in the band I was in called "Wonderland", after Robin Beck left for NY. I still have some old band pictures with her in them. How very cool! I do remember Scott, and  friend Steve Pappas. I'd love to come and see you play.....where are ya playin? I didn't know you and Marsha spent some time together. This was one of the bands i was in with Dave Daniele.
  So very cool
Did you know Joey Pullin, I don't know if I spelled his last name right.....was with the band the "Missels"
       keep in touch Randy

hey how about this name
scott pritchard
you know i went out with his sister marsha

Here's something you might enjoy. I hope I get this right.....Jim Mc has posted some things on you tube. One of the things is with my sister, Renae when she played at Pine Knob, with the two igaunas from earth.the web site is www.youtube/user/SBGGCA  She opened for the Eagles on their last "Hell Freezes over tour in Nashville" Renae's manager was the late Sir Charles Comber.
He was the publisist for the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Back when I knew him he was the manager for Stevie Ray Vaughn, Renae was wearing his hat in the video. He also managed The Fabulos Thunderbirds, Cheap Trick,  and the Chieftians. I was in New York with Renae helping set up the office for IRS Records with the Copland Brothers this was when Capricorn records split.. I went out there with Gergg Carlson, his late brother Scott was in the Bobby Lewis and the Cracker Jack band. I don't know where Gregg is but he has the origanal release on message in  a bottle from the police.  Renae still has gold records hanging on her wall given to her from SRV.

    Should we start a book?

Oh by the way, I still keep in touch with Darrin Reed, He plays all instruments, but was the drummmer for a band called Walrus, with Jim Wallers. Did some things with SRC. He's very much into the archives type stuff.

Hi,
I hope this gets to you with the link intact, the you tube thing, at the bottom of the page. Any way here we go. A little history on me. I stopped playing bass years ago, to raise my family. I have four grown children now. Two of them are very much into music. My oldest son just graduated from Mich.Tech.,and is a civil engineer,Bryan. My middle son Kevin is a bass player, playing heavy metal stuff. OMG his first band he was in the studio playing with Nick Cantoneese, from Black Label Society, and Zak Wilde from Black Sabath, they got guitar sponsorships, free amps, Laneys, and Marshall's, they were in the process of signing with a major recording lable, and the drummer had a total melt down, wanted his dad to manage the band...lol. They are trying too re-group now.
I have twins, Robyn and Jason, they are 18. Both in college. Jason up at Mich. Tech. and Robyn at Eastern Univ. Robyn is amazing, taking after her Mom. She produces and films videos of Bands.
My wife Lugene, of 27 years has the dream job.Works in the music and entertainment industury, gets to meet all the stars. I'm working as a supervisor in a manufacturing plant.
Any way if you get the link, I think it would be so cool for you and Vince to get together on stage for their show.....you know you with the beard and he with the side burn thing. I think they'll be playing at the Magic Stick or the Magestic Ballroom. Something else that would be very very very cool. Here's a little history on the band, a while ago I think in Chicago, the band got a lot of their gear stolen out of a trailer. The band's bass player plays and upright ele bass. In  a previous e-mail I sent you, you mentioned that you may live near Chris, the guy with the cardboard bass thing. My niece Ricki should be at the show, she works at the Oakland Press and there would by a good possiblity pics of this  would show up in the newspaper.

Wow so cool my son just saw Rob Zombie play at the Oz-Fest at Pine Knob.
I am really not sure on this but I think Gary Suba, a drummer, played in the "Moose" band. Do you know him? He and I were managed and financed by "Delphi Productions". It was a cool situation. Jack and Judy Horriwitz, managed us and put our bands on salary. I was in the band Magnum, and Gary was in the band Trilogy. Both Gary and I were band leaders.
Gary went on to play and write the drum tracks for Bob Seger's fire inside alblum. I guess he is currently in a band called "Gunslinger" with a guy Randy Mac. He also from what I understand does lights, sound, and special effects for traveling music shows. When I talked with him this summer he was traveling with a "Marvin Gaye" tribute show doing the multi media back drop and lighting stuff. I guess the band Gunslinger is popular in Australia, Gary says the never play in the Detroit area....lol he lives in Livonia.
Anyway "Natives" are playing at the Magestic Theater the day before Thanksgiving. They were origanally from Detroit but are now based out of LA.
they're one of these traveling bands.

This MYSPACE MONDAY BLOG PAGE will be a good place for the musicians of the Brickhouse to link their pages and the music on them.

It will be easy for our producers and listeners to find your page, play and replay your music. Maybe a few sentences describing the band or your music. Keep in short and to the point. Also all the other bands will be able to see, met, and network with each other.

Think how big MYSPACE MONDAY could be if bands and promoters all networked on this project. The Show can play your music in hundreds of cities, but it is up to you to knock on doors. Tell the press, newspapers, agents, record companies people Coast to Coast have heard your music and your name via MYSPACE and Fox Sports Radio's most interactive show.

Great Idea JT .... In fact the newspaper in Detroit just did a story on your MYSPACE MONDAY ... It mentioned you had Chubby Checker and played his new song "Knock Down the Walls." It also mentioned Mike Shane from Nashville, Powerman 500, the Wheelchair Renegades, Mr. Mello, Chepo, and the Best of the Best Compilation CD Guys.... I guess this section will be for the bands so they can leave a LINK to THEIR MYSPACE which should have some bio info and music If you to to MY MYSPACE ... you will hear our song JT plays on Hard Core Wednesday called DUMB GIRLS ... Benny and the Jets recorded 3 LPs in the 70s, tourned the U.S. and Canada in the 80s, we were invited to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the 90s ... Still jammin in the 2000s. Thanks JT. your friends

I love it when you and Looney talk about local things out in So Cal, since I was born and raised in Orange County it brings back memories. Check out my band, though I must warn you the recordings were not done in a professional studio. Take care...Dave of Misuse of Silence

Wheelchair Renegades
..> ..>

JT thanks for rocking us on MySpace Mondays.

Here a little description of our music:
"Wheelchair Renegades shell out high energy rock and roll that pulls influences from modern musicians like The Matches and Less Than Jake, as well as older acts ranging from Van Halen to U2. It all comes together as one of the hardest hitting bands that you will ever see, aggressive songs that hit you like a freight train and the onstage energy of a Slayer show tied together by melodic vocal progressions and near constant harmony. What's up JT! Love the show and MySpace Monday. I'm setting up a music pg. right now, and one of my tunes is "The Ballad of Miles Tarver."

Miles is my favorite b-baller of ALL TIME.  He played for Minnesota on the Final 4 team that "never happened" in '97 because some players were caught cheating.  His ball skills were flat out bad, but he was an important piece on a great team (I love the underdogs).  Miles overcame the obstacles in his game to succeed.  We could all learn from him, even if we did hold our breath when he shot.

Anyways, keep up the great work; I'll be listening.  Drop me a line if you want to use it so I can make sure I'm tuned in.  Peace  -DT

Lori Lampkin has just released her debut CD titled 'That Place". That Place is an album worthy of any music fan's collection. Produced by Joe Mattis and mixed by Kevin Williams, it was recorded in Nashville at County Q Productions and in Spring City, PA at Slugfest Recording Studio. That Place was mastered by the amazing Steve Fallone at the legendary Sterling Sound in New York City. This same building has given us recordings by Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith and Rod Stewart, just to name a few, and the list goes on forever. The session musicians that back Lori on the album are top-notch seasoned professionals in the industry, including Wayne Killius of Big & Rich fame and Bobby Terry who has worked with everyone from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw to Brad Paisley and Trisha Yearwood.

The Franchize
..> ..>

..

The Franchize is a six-piece band based out of Indianapolis that seamlessly blends the sounds of hip-hop and rock. The band is made up of Ian Titus (bass guitar), Ryan Russell (lead guitar), Nate Davis (vocalist/emcee), Mark Steele/Unorthodox (DJ), Mark Davis (drums), George Mallers (keys/guitar). The Franchize provides a unique musical experience that has gained a reputation as the hottest bands in Indianapolis.

With years of experience behind them, the band has quickly become a regular on the Indianapolis and Chicago music scene. With weekly performances in the popular college bars on the Broad Ripple strip, city-wide festivals such as the Taste of Broad Ripple, large crowds like Conseco Fieldhouse during the NBA Playoff Conference Finals and more intimate shows in upscale clubs and charity events The Franchize has proven their ability.

This exciting, up and coming, group has found a diverse and energetic fan base, and shown their ability to win over a crowd by combining their high-energy original material with remixes of classic rock, Motown and hip-hop numbers. This range of musical versatility is the reason The Franchize has been able to play alongside rock acts, hip-hop acts, and DJ acts alike. Some of the notable national acts include Rhymefest, Fuel, Jojo, Avant, Nappy Roots, Nikka Costa, Frickin A and more. Regardless of whom they play with, their music, energy, and showmanship create a memorable musical experience that leaves audiences wanting more.

Hey JT love the show!! I heard about this segment the other day as I headed home. This is a great idea and huge opportunity for those who get air time. Here is some underground stuff for your show...this style of music is called Jungle aka Drum&Bass. It originated in the UK and it quickly made its way to the states in the early 90's. You'll hear this type of music in commercials and movies but never on the radio. Drum and Bass lives in dark warehouses, and smokey clubs with thousands of watts of bass pouncing on your face.

You can find some music on myspace or you can visit my musicv2.com site for more.

These four guys work so hard to put out excellent shows and they rock it everytime! If you just could hear them you would love it. I promise. If you were to give them any chance at putting the word out about JACK SOMEBODY I truly would be grateful.

Beyond The Grave
..> ..>

They will follow their calling, and you may call it what you will...Beyond the Grave is an aggresive and experientmental band ascending from the forgotten suburban wastelands of Detroit Michigan. Call your local exorcist! B.T.G. has set out to possess and captivate the underground. A spreading affliction reaching from the toxic soil, breaking out into the atmosphere. Equipped with Supernatural Guitar riffs that break and grind the barriers of time and space, exploding the air with electric energy. Savage untamed Drums that permeate a room with booming thunder, and mangle foundations. Bass guitar that resembles a monster hammering, and growling violently behind your closet door. All brewed together with, a haunting vocal assault filled with intense brutal ferocity, with lyrics about life, death, the after-life, from the farthest reaches of outerspace, to under the sour ground we roam. The Hysteria has begun!...

Detroit Blues Crew
..> ..>

Benny told me to stop by and drop a line about Detroit Roy and the Blues Crew for the Myspace Monday Music.  Our sound is deep down blues that ministers to the soul.  Played from Nashville to Detroit and spots in between.  Not one to blow my own horn so check it out for yourself...

<FONT color=003399 size=2>http://www.myspace.com/detroitbluescrew  takes you to site and
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=143664811 for the tunes

Comments from some friends...

"Detroit Roy's style is a pure & soulful amalgamation of all the blues guitar greats.  He is a true original & encompasses the rare goosebump X-factor found only in a chosen few.  Roy is what it's all about!" -Noah Wotherspoon,  Guitar Player w/the Stratocats

"…He is a creative musician and songwriter. He understands how to improvise. He has a musical insight that only comes from years of experience. …This winning combination has earned Roy my respect and appreciation for his talent and performance abilities." -Mike Schmrimpf, Owner SMS Production & Recording Studios

"…We became fast friends because we shared a love for the same things…shovelheads, guitars & Jesus (in reverse order).  I heard and picked with some real good pickers and let me tell you Detroit Roy is the real deal.  You don't have to take my word for it, just listen to the boy play.  …Better than that, Roy is a man of integrity.  His word is good and that's rare anymore…"

The Good Fear
..> ..>

"The Good Fear plays Southern indie rock. The lap steel, slide guitar, and piano hint at 70s rock radio—but the smart, inventive songwriting takes the album out of Allman Brothers territory and into the realm of recent pop gems from the Shins and A.C. Newman."     -Jason Weinheimer, Localist Magazine

"Featuring ex-members of Lucero and The New Amsterdams[also All American Rejects, White Whale and The Higher Burning Fire], The Good Fear have a workmanlike eloquence that is...quite captivating....Guitarist/Vocalist Zach Holland's voice embodies a degree of heartbreak that is free of melodrama and the band's usage of lap steel, various forms of percussion, and keyboard give them a coarse originality. Like all good southern rock, TGF doggedly confronts the melancholic ghosts of regret and irascibility that accompany the dissolution of youth...just archaic enough to inspire nostalgia but at the same time safeguard the listener's attention."         -Low Velocity

"This Super-Group writes songs of fiery indie-rock perfection."     -Groupeez Magazine

We are in Arkansas and we are unsigned.  Please put us on the Radio, and please check out the websites:  www.myspace.com/thegoodfear    and    www.thegoodfear.com  .

guitar, bass and drum machine
good band, sharp dressed, nice guys!

We do a wide rage of gigs from the $200 neighborhood bar gig to the $2000 concert, with all the clubs, casinos, weddings, grand openings, parties, city and church festivals and events in between.

Benny and the Jets are the same band
that recorded 3 LPs in the 70s
toured the U.S. and Canada in the 80s
were invited to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame in the 90s
and our we site got 350,000 hits in the 2000s

In the old days we toured and did gigs with Chubby Checker, the Coasters, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Question Mark and the Mysterians and Paul Revere and the Raiders. We backed up Freddy Boom Boom Cannon and Bo Diddlie. Worked for Auto-rama, Dick Clark and Richard Nator. Performed in the Kingdome, Skydome, Astrodome, Silverdome. When the United States Government needed a band to play at the unveiling of the Bill Haley rock and roll stamp they hired-Benny and the Jets band.

More recently we opened shows for Kentucky Headhunters, Humble Pie, Marshall Tucker, Bad Finger, Rick Derringer and Eddie Money. We played the Harley Davidson anniversary ride across America. The Woodward Dream Cruise and video with Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. Advertised as the first band to play the new Ford Field Stadium in downtown Detroit. We did " -->EZCODE AUTOLINK START-->JTtheBrick.com" -->EZCODE AUTOLINK END--> sports radio tour with stops in Boston, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami.

The 2 man band is very portable, easy in, easy out, self contained, guitar, bass, drum machine. We do a nice mix of music. No job TO BIG, no job TO SMALL. To many people see all the things we have done and think we are too big or expensive. Were not. We really have done it all, from retirement homes to kids shows, from biker parities to back yard parties. We know how to play to the audience in front of us. We like to get the audience involved, we entertain them, do some games and contests, teach them about the history of rock and roll. And like KID ROCK sings on his Cocky CD song #3 "Lay in on Me" -- "Benny and the Jets are HOT."

Also note: Benny is a regualr guest on Fox Sports Radio, was mentioned in the book Sprts Talk by Alan Eisenstock. Is the co-host the Dr of Do-Wop show on " -->EZCODE AUTOLINK START-->WPON.COM". -->EZCODE AUTOLINK END--> Writes a column for the Gazette Newspaer chain carried in several local newspapers. Past column can be found on the message board page of " -->EZCODE AUTOLINK START-->bennyandthejets.com" -->EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

I went to the Little Stevie garage concert that featured the New York Dolls at St Andrews Hall in Detroit  (11-17-06) It was pretty damn cool. There were a few moments that reminded me of that primal scream power of rock and roll. Really a who's who too. Guys from Iggy's band, Mitch Ryders, Holling Dioblo's, Rock's Gang, Romantic's, Hiawatha, Charms, Super Sucker, Chesterfield Kings, Gore Gore Girls ... probably a lot more I missed too. Everyone treated me really good, lots of people had heard about the Best Beard in America contest. LOL ..... and a lot of people rememberd the Michigan Palace my dad used to own. Stories about Iggy, KISS, Rush, Bruce Springstine, Ted Nugent, Arosmith, BTO, Bob Seger, David Bowie and of corse David Johanson and the New York Dolls with Johnny Thunder ... that was the grand opening for the Palace 9-22-73 ... damn time flies when your having fun. Soooooooo if you know some one who needs the column e-mailed to them let me know! (benejets@aol.com) Tell your local paper they should carry this column.
See past columns on the message board at BENNY AND THE JETS . COM (BAND) and now on www.myspace.com/bennyandthejets. As always feel free to use this
(IN YOUR PAPER OR WEBZINE), post it, forward it around the world.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>COLUMN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                            might need a new home

For several years (maybe 15) I have been writing a weekly column carried in several different newspapers and webzines over the years. Papers come and papers go. Some get new owners, some change formats, some fall by the way. Some of my most recent, the Wayne Eagle changed owners, Farmington Gazette changed formats, and The Bargain Hunter is what we call on hiatus.

I have always posted past columns on the message board at www.bennyandthejets.com and have been wanting to spend some more time on the BLOG at www.myspace.com/bennyandthejets which is where this column will go.

Despite all the bad publicity I really like myspace.com. It is a web onto itself, yet much easer to surf and stumble into cool information from around the world. Great networking tool for musician and bands and as safe as any shopping mall for kids?

I still do the weekly radio show Wednesdays at 5p on WPON am1460 and heard around the world via www.wpon.com. Last week we had Arlen Viecelli the former lead singer of the popular 70s Detroit rock band Salem Witchcraft and Joey Gaytoes Jr. Joey, who at 13 stared
in the movie "School of Rock" with Jack Black is the son of Joey Sr who many will remember from the bands Muggys, Weapons and Cub Koda and the Points.

Both CDs were rated high. Joey's very guitar driven, would make the late Cub Koda very proud could be compared to Cheap Trick or a young Joe Walsh. Arlen often compared to Grand Funk and Boston featured a nice version of Roy Orbason's "Cryin" and Salem's "Sandman." After Arlen's previous Christmas CD Holy Knights, I decided Arlen is the greatest undiscovered singer in the world.

How about the price of gas? Almost half of Americans believe the plunge at the pump has more to do with politics and the November elections, than economics. According to a new Gallup poll, 42% of respondents agreed with the statement that the Bush administration "deliberately manipulated the price of gasoline so that it would decrease before this fall's elections." Fifty-three percent of those surveyed did not believe the conspiracy theory; 5% said they had no opinion. Not surprising, almost two-thirds of those who suspect President Bush intervened to bring down energy prices before Election Day are registered Democrats, according to Gallup.
Hard to believe that CHRISTMAS stuff is already up at K-MARTS. But it is and I still haven't bought Halloween candy yet. Benny and the Jets are playing Halloween Party at the Pontiac Eagles on Mountcolm in Pontiac. Costumes, dancing, good times till them your with the band and get in FREE. Every Friday we have been at the Ramada Inn on Eureka in Taylor near the Gibraltar Trade Center. Sundays starting at 6pm at Jack's Bar on Kennit and Baldwin in Pontiac. Every Tuesday including Halloween night at the Wayne Road Pub on Wayne Road Pub in Westland.

ALSO I think I won that beard contest! (Special thank you to all that voted.) Which would mean I would be the Wahl Clippers MAN OF THE YEAR and a trip to the Superbowl in Miami. I am waiting for conformation.
