I have a brand new website, jaytref.com. It's not quite done yet, it's really just the kernel of what I want it to become, but it's off to a good start. I'll be closing down nightairstudios.com in a couple of months. The problem with nightairstudios.com, is that I created it when I was mostly airbrushing t-shirts, and that was what the site was for. Since I've expanded into other forms of artwork since then, nightairstudios.com has kind of floundered and lost its focus. And to make matters worse, all the search engines still think that it is an airbrush site, so no matter what's on it, I only get people looking for airbrushing. jaytref.com will focus on my illustration work, and it will stay focused on that, since search engines don't allow for adaptability at all. If I ever chance my focus again, I'll just open a new site right away, having learned from my mistakes.

I've updated my web site www.nightairstudios.com, with new artwork, just so you know! One new digital piece, and a bunch of sketches. The digital piece has also been added to my MySpace album, along with my favorite one of the sketches (a mermaid, surprise, surprise.)

So how come they have Summer and Winter Olympics, but no Spring or Fall Olympics? Just imagine how cool a Fall Olympics could be. The contests would include leaf raking, pumpkin carving, trick or treating, deer hunting and apple pie baking! I make a mean apple pie, you know. I could be an Olympic Athlete!! ME!!! But NOOOOOO, those jerks at the Olymics would rather see half naked women playing volleyball than.... Oh wait. Half naked girls? Okay, never mind, carry on.

The August edition of my web site is up. It has a nice new mermaid painting, and a new look. I'm trying to add more graphics to it, on accounta me being an artist and all.... Problem is, search engines don't pick up on graphics, so I have to work plenty of text in there too.

I just updated my web site with one new painting, this time a portrait of the new Doctor Who and his companion from last season, Martha, airbrushed onto a t-shirt. You can check it out here - www.nightairstudios.com I've also posted it to my myspace photo album in the airbrush folder. I'm a bit rusty with portaits, so it's not the best likeness in the world. And it is a double portrait, which is really tough to do. (I know...excuses, excuses.)
I've been getting quite a few t-shirt commissions this summer, despite the fact I haven't been actively promoting my t-shirt airbrushing for a couple years now, which I think is very flattering! I'm starting to think that for artwork, the best kind of promotion and marketing is plain old word of mouth. Whenever I spend money on marketing and promotion, my sales do go up, but so do my expenses. My net profit stays the same. So what the hell? I'm just going to lock myself in my studio and paint whatever I want to paint, and let my customers come to me!

I've added a new digital drawing to my web site, www.nightairstudios.com. I've also added the same photo to my myspace photos. It is just a quick cartoon of a mermaid.

Spent the morning fixing the Cabridge Headboard I built last week. It tipped over in the spray room, and got all busted up. I felt like Dr. Frankenstien, piecing this thing back together again. But I pulled it off; there wasn't a scratch on it when I was done. Twice as many screws as before though.... In the afternoon, I built an audio/video center out of cherry. Didn't get it quite done, so I'll have that to look forward to tomorrow.
In the evening, Meredith and I watched an oldie from my VCR shelf; Lunatics: A Love Story. This is a great comedy starring Deborah Foreman, Bruce Campell and Ted Raimi. This is a great movie, but for some crazy reason, it hasn't come out on DVD yet. There are a lot of old straight to video films out there that still haven't been released on DVD, like Celler Dweller Prime Evil and Ghost Town. I can only assume that the production companies that made them have gone under, leaving these films in legal limbo.
After the movie I paid the bills for this month and checked my bank statement. Loads of fun!

For breakfast I made scrambled eggs, sausage and leftover biscuits and gravy. Then made a crock pot dish for dinner, Chicken Salsa Stew. Spent most of the day painting. Meredith and I had the stew for dinner, with the rest of the buiscuits, and watched an old eighties horror movie, Sometimes They Come Back. After dinner, I got a bit more painting done.

I made waffles for breakfast, with whipped cream and bananas. Spent the afternoon doing laundry and helping Meredith clean. In the evening I cooked some pork chops, corn, biscuits and grave for dinner. During dinner, Meredith and I listened to Says Who? and then Selected Shorts on NPR. Afterwards, I cleaned up my studio a bit and (finally!) got started on my next oil painting.

Spent most of the day cleaning the apartment. In the evening Meredith and I went to the Middle Earth to see The Benders performing a reunion show. It was great. The Middle Earth Music Hall closes its doors forever on Sunday, so it was a bittersweat night for everyone there. The best thing about Bradford, Vermont is coming to an end. At the CD table, Meredith and I went on a spending spree, and bought seven albums by the Benders and the other bands the members have formed since they broke up two years ago.
