Current mood:  happy
Guitarbitz has just had a delivery of new strings by Elixir. take a look at
http://www.guitarbitz.com/guitar_strings.htm.

Elixir Guitar Strings last 3-5 times longer than ordinary strings without compromising tone. This means you buy fewer sets of strings, change them less often, and trust that your guitar is ready to go when you are.
The coating prevents contamination and corrosion from collecting in the windings of the strings.
Anti-Rust plating on plain steel strings resist tone-deadening corrosion.

From £9.95 with FREE delivery to the UK.

Hello again from Guitarbitz , Europe's favourite online guitar shop.

Summer is now ending and we are having the last few weeks of sunshine before the rain comes in again. Where was that Indian summer?

I'm sure many of you have had time off this summer, whether to go abroad to catch a bit of sun, getting to a festival in your tent, or just to look after the kids, while some of us have just enjoyed the lack of rush hour traffic with the kids being out of school.

The end of summer signals the schools reopening and all the children heading back to lessons. It always brings a sadistic smile to my face as I see them walking to school, knowing that their 5 weeks of fun have ended and they have to start using their brains again while I have been working solid for the last 51 weeks!

On a different note, the experts are suggesting that we are starting to really see the green shoots of growth and we are heading out of the recession. So things are looking on the up, hopefully there will be more jobs on the horizon and we can look forward to a fantastic Christmas and I hope that 2010 brings rewards to all of us after such a difficult 2009.

2 - Back to School
We all know that the kids have gone back to school, out come the Mums and Dads walking their kids to school, the teenagers slowly moping their way to the gates and tons of cars trying to drop their kids off as close to the school gates as possible on the zig-zag lines!

I hope you all managed to get their uniforms sorted with new shoes (how do they manage to grow 2 sizes in 5 weeks?), ties and blazers.

Now they have had time to settle back in and find some of their friends are joining the after school music classes, some of you might be getting "Mum/Dad, can I play the recorder?". I can see the shivers running down your spine.
Well, whether they play recorder, violin, guitar, ukulele or trumpet, encourage their enthusiasm and you may be rewarded by the annual concert.

So if they come home asking to go to guitar lessons, we have a huge range of children's guitars to suit all ages, styles and pockets.

From easy on the fingers classical guitar packages to electric guitar packages which have everything to get a new player started.

Most of our starter packages come with a bag to carry the guitar to school, a tuner, tutorial DVD and much more.
And now that the ukulele is taking over from the recorder as the instrument of choice in schools, we have a range of ukuleles to cater for the beginner to intermediate levels.

I even took one on holiday to the middle of France camping, lots of people on the campsite were interested and wanted to play it (I'm not that good at French so there was a lot of sign language and gesturing) and even people that had never seen, let alone picked up a ukulele, were able to play it within 5 minutes.

They are that easy and so much fun.
If you are looking for a cheap, quality, musical instrument, then we have one to suit your budget.

Have a look at our range of children's guitars and ukuleles and be prepared when they come home and ask if they can start lessons.

2 – Recorders and Violins Take a Back Seat

I’m sure you can all remember the shrill or the beautiful notes from the recorder and the screeches of waxed horsetail on those violin strings, lest we never forget.  Were those the only instruments that we could learn in school?   I remember my times in the recorder orchestra being accompanied by a couple of Violins – I was so proud at the time – I only recently discovered how “interesting” it sounded when I was dragged by my sister to my nephews first concert.  I’m so glad I took the ear plugs.

Well all that is about to change!!!  Ukulele’s are taking schools by storm.  Yes ukuleles.  That amazing Hawaiian instrument that everyone remembers George Formby playing funny fast songs.

Many schools are abandoning the recorder and violin lessons and moving towards ukuleles.  With the small size, only 4 strings and easy to play methodology they are fast becoming a hit with young children.  But not only young children, they are becoming funky and even teenagers and some of the most high profile guitarists are using ukuleles.

Why is it so easy to play?  Well because of the way it is tuned, you usually have to hold down one or two strings and strum, and you have music.  But even better is you can just fiddle with it and make pleasing music, and no more intermittent screeches or dribbles.

They come in various colours and sizes from Concert (the smallest) to Baritone (the biggest (although the biggest is still small)) and a few in between so everyone is catered for.  They are so easy to take anywhere with you because of their small size.  And you can get a very good instrument for very little money.

Have a look at our range of ukuleles and get one fast.  With their popularity, stocks throughout the UK are running out fast.

3 – Only 5 Weeks Before They Go Back to School

Oh how time flies.  Was it really 12 months ago that the kids had 6 weeks off?  This time I’m going to be prepared.  School uniforms, bags, new PE kit, hey I have 5 more weeks, but I know what will happen, rushing around the supermarkets at 3pm on the Sunday before  they go back, trying to get all the pens, pencils, rulers, rubbers and everything else I have forgotten.

And then at the end of their first day back, they tell me that they have joined the after school guitar lessons and they now need a guitar.  I swear there is a new grey hair every day.

Well we have a huge range of children’s guitars to suit all ages and styles.  From easy on the fingers classical guitar packages to electric guitar packages which have everything to get a new player started.  Most of our starter packages come with a bag to carry the guitar to school, a tuner, tutorial DVD and much more.  And we even tune everything up before we send it to you, so it can be played from the moment the box is opened.

If you are looking for a cheap, quality, musical instrument, then we have a guitar to suit your budget.

Have our look at our range of children’s guitars and be prepared when they come home and ask if they can start guitar lessons.
