Sunday 11/15 - The Found Footage Festival - at 7p and 9p, $10 per show

www.foundfootagefestival.com

Screening will take place at Connies Ric Rac (1132 South 9th Street, Between Washington and Ellsworth,
Philadelphia, PA 19147)

The Found Footage Festival is a one-of-a-kind event that showcases footage
from videos that were found at garage sales and thrift stores and in
warehouses and dumpsters across the country.

Joe and Nick began collecting found videotapes in 1991 after stumbling
across a training video entitled, "Inside and Outside Custodial Duties" in
a McDonald's break room. Since then, they have compiled an impressive
collection of strange, outrageous, and profoundly stupid videos on VHS.

rules govern Found Footage Festival: 1) Footage must be found on physical
format, no YouTube; 2) Footage must be unintentionally funny; 3) No
Richard Simmons footage.

Since 2004, the Found Footage Festival has gone on to sell out hundreds of
shows across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., including the HBO Comedy
Festival at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the Just For Laughs Festival
in Montreal. The festival has been featured on National Public Radio,
Jimmy Kimmel Live, and G4 TVÂs Attack Of The Show, and has been named a
criticÂs pick in dozens of publications, including The Village Voice, Los
Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle ("Riotous!"), AVClub.com
("Skull-crushingly funny.") and The Chicago Tribune.

Joe and Nick, whose credits include The Onion and Late Show With David
Letterman, are also the directors of the award-winning feature-length
documentary, Dirty Country.

SAVE THE 941 THEATER!!

Dear Friends and Patrons of the 941 Theater,

We regret to inform you that The 941 Theater is in imminent danger of closing down forever. As you may know, we’ve worked hard to support the art, film and music communities in Philadelphia by creating a safe and accessible venue everyone can enjoy. In the process of trying to keep our prices low and the venue friendly to emerging artists and filmmakers, we have found ourselves in a financial situation where our overhead has become much greater than our profits. In the process, important paperwork and licenses have lapsed and we are being forced to shut our doors for the month of November. Due to our dire financial situation, every day our doors are closed we lose the important money that needs to go back into the theater. We are currently working on a huge fundraiser which needs to happen before the end of November in order for us to gain the funds to help re-open the theater. If you are willing to donate your time and efforts to help save the 941 Theater, please contact us at BOOKING@941theater.com. We know times are tough for everyone, but if you are willing to make a monetary donation, every little bit helps and would be greatly appreciated.

If you can donate money to the cause, you can do so here:
http://www.projectedarts.org/donate.htm

If you have any further questions or would like to be involved in some way, please contact us at: BOOKING@941theater.com

Thank you so much for your time and efforts. They are greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

941 Theater Staff and Management

The 941 Theater is a multi-use independent theater space, hosting movie screenings, live music, theater performances, art shows and much more. This is the first indie theater of this type to open in Philly in over 10 years; there are not many places in Philadelphia like this let alone the entire country. The 941 Theater provides access for the people of Philadelphia to a broader variety of films by programming films that are not available here because there is no venue for them. Additionally, the 941 Theater provides an intimate, personal venue for fans to see their favorite bands in an environment they would not normally experience. If the 941 Theater closes, it’s not likely that another space of its type with take its place.

Bands who have performed at 941 include The Dickies, The Angry Samoans, The Phenomenauts, The AKA's, Digable Planets, Black Landlord, ZO2, Dr. Fameus of the Disco Biscuits, Pilfers, Bellameurte, The Old Souls, Leslie Hall and much more.

Screenings and events include Flight of the Conchords, Bam Margera, Bjork, Bill Plympton, Lamb of God, Adam Rifkin, Ron Jeremy, Martin Atkins and Invisible Records, the Found Footage Festival, Raspberry Brothers, Animation Block Party, Backseat Film Festival, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Zoo York, and much more

Friday, August 14th - The Raspberry Brothers: Movie Parody Night!
Show Times: Karate Kid at 9:00pm and Footloose at 11:30pm

Price: $10 per show, or $15 for the double feature

A very special tribute to the year 1984, featuring NYC’s #1 movie commentary comedy group, the Raspberry Brothers.   Like a live take on Mystery Science Theater 3000, this team of top NYC comics sit front row center at the movies, mocking films as they play.  The Raspberry Brothers, who perform weekly at ..Chelsea.. ..Cinemas.., one of ....Manhattan....’s premiere art-house film theaters, includes a cast of comedy writers and performers who contribute to SNL and the Onion.  They have received numerous awards, garnering critic’s picks from the New York Times, Time Out, and the Decider.

The Raspberry Brothers will be lampooning the films Karate Kid and Footloose in a double feature sure to enlighten viewers into the social psychology of the year 1984.  Karate Kid begins at 9:00 and Footloose at 11:30.

KARATE KID: You'll recognize the setup: the new kid in town is having trouble fitting in. Does he turn the town upside-down with dancing? No. Does he befriend an outer space alien? No. But he does learn the ancient art of Karate by performing a series of household chores for an aging Asian janitor. This movie birthed the Karate craze that swept the nation in the mid 1980s. It also put Ralph Macchio on the map...and left him there. Put on your robe, tie on that black belt, and come join the Raspberry boys as they journey back to a simpler decade when teenage angst could be mellowed by learning to "Wax On, Wax Off."

FOOTLOOSE: Jack, get back, 'cause it's Footloose, the sweet 80's story about a big-city, thin-tie wearing rebel trapped in a rural Midwestern town, who dances his way into the hearts of the local hicks, and into the pants of the local chicks. See Kevin Bacon compete in a deadly slow game of "chicken" using tractors...see Sarah Jessica Parker talk about diaphrams...see Sean Penn's little brother breakdance...and see a whole lot of Coca-Cola product placement. So let's hear it for the boys, Jerm Pollet, Johnny McNulty, and Scott Rogowsky, as they promise to fry a lot of Bacon with this one!
