Current mood: okay
Expanded powers never address the situation they were derived from.
Expanded powers are unlikely to produce any of the benefits that are attributed to them by the power interests who are seeking them.
Expanded powers are often abused and lead to overreaching situations that would have been averted by the check and balance system
Learn from the Greek folk tale of the Gyges Ring. It's moral is that given the power to act with complete impunity, even the righteous man man will be unable to resist the temptation toward corruption.
Imagine if a fool, a liar and a massively incompetent person had these powers?
