Set in a Georgian house where layers of history unravel from behind panelled walls and deep-set fireplaces whisper ashes of deeds past, the artists will engage with and draw inspiration from the history of the space, including its most famous inhabitant Benjamin Franklin, he of keys and kites….

Expect spinning tops, glass armonicas, trepanning games, story telling, ceremonial mythologies, muffled whisperings, cyclical wanderings, all serenaded by the sound of a haunting electric cello…

LOST GIRLS (found objects) @ NO I.D. GALLERY, 24-26 Calvert Avenue, London E2 7JP. PRIVATE VIEW 25-09 –08 26 – 09 –09 TO 28-09-08 What do we think of when we hear the phrase ' Lost Girls '? Historically, it brings to mind a fallen woman – either through promiscuous behaviour, or as a euphemism for prostitution. Anyone who has been in love will inevitably ponder on the girl they lost and think, 'What if…? ' And anyone of a certain age will remember with sadness, the girl they once were – the lost girl of their youth. In today's paranoid society, it may mean a missing or abducted child. The recent case of Madelaine Mc Cann encapsulated all the horror of when a child is lost. Every generation has it's lost girls, from the seventies Punks to today's Goths and Emo kids. A generation choosing to live outside of the social norm and effectively 'losing' themselves. So what do we think of when we hear the phrase 'Found Object'? In today's throwaway society, there is no shortage of stuff to be found. All it takes is for someone to appreciate an object that has been discarded to give it a new lease of life. If we find something with potential, is there a natural desire to make it our own? The exhibition " LOST GIRLS " will explore some of the moral dilemmas of using found objects within the more fluid realms of authorship. Blurring the edges between art and product, the exhibition will draw on a selection of the re-interpreted and re-contextualized. Tom_Estes8@hotmail.com Meermore@ntlworld.com
