Mel here.........
First of all, moving (especially across the country) can bring about changes in just about every way. Jana and I just LOVE Portland OR, it's beautiful. Lot's of mountains and water, just like in Lawrenceville PA, so we feel at home already. But also, there is just enough of current pop culture here to spur creativity, and start to feel like we have to stretch ourselves to keep up, something we've not felt in a while.

So........ when packing up my studio in Lawrenceville a few weeks ago, I found a CD of a song that we cut off the first record "Bittersweet", called "BITE THE HAND". It features the same great percussion team of Dave Uosikkinnen (The Hooters) and Charlie Shew (Samite of Uganda), they rocked the songs "Bittersweet" and "London Holiday" on the first record! This tune got cut only because we didn't have a clear vision of how to finish it. When I found the CD during the move, it had a completed vocal track, drums and percussion and acoustic guitar only. When I listened to it yesterday on CD that way, I could hear a synth pad under Jana's vocals........ I promptly broke out the VFX laid down a track or two, then plugged in my bass and played along with the CD.........and four hours later........... POOF! There it was!
You can tell we've been listening to different music lately, as we've been pretty tired of the Pop format, and boring singer/songwriter blah blah....... we've been listening a lot to Johnette Napolatino and Kate Bush among others, if you know these artists, you can hear their influence in my four hours of work yesterday.

The song is a political statement, and we are not sorry. :)

As always, your comments are always welcome.

PEACE!

Mel

Well here we are on the beautiful west coast!! My goodness, when you leave it, you forget how wonderful 70 degree weather can be!

Unfortunately, other areas on our tour schedule haven't had the same super mild/non-existent winter.....

We've had to cancel our Portland dates, as we were planning a northern route back to the east coast (after playing Portland), but weather has prevented us from even getting there!

We are cutting the trip a week short, to enjoy the holidays back at home in Lawrenceville, PA.

We apologize to our Portland fans, we love you all, and love-love-love the city, we will book something again soon!

LA went well, the Knitting Factory show was a great success. We also fell in LOVE with the people of Culver City CA...... we played Otis College of Design nearby in the afternoon, and the wonderful people there invited us to crash at their house in-between shows that day, making it possible for us to relax between dual shows on one day, and not get stuck in nasty LA traffic! Thanks Mary! The show that night was fun and uplifting, a much needed highlight after having to cancel our Northwest plans.

Hope your holidays are just rippin with fun!

Wow, it never rains in San Diego......it's rained the last two days straight.......like it does back home in PA....... A LOT.

We have had a slow start to this second tour of the west coast, but we are looking forward to our Knitting Factory show in LA.

We've just received the first version of the video for "5 Days", by Loius Sparre, he is a fantastic video editor. We hope to have that up and running and ready for an early release in less than a month.

We are working on a new project with a more literary and theatrical theme, as we travel and play, our down time is spent working new magic.

We'll write again from LA.

Stay dry!!

Got your attention didn't I??? :)

There is lot's to celebrate in our camp, everyday we grow more thankful for the team that showers us with support....... We have some truly talented and dedicated people with us, and we would fall appart with out them.

Secondly, to those of you who house us on the road...... THANK YOU! Hotels suck, no matter how fancy. Your house is much warmer and the breakfasts are yummier by far! We could not tour like we do without you.

Third, have you seen our tour schedule>>?? Sometimes I think we are trying to kill ourselves...... but I always say.... "beats having a real job anyday".......
We have been touring constantly for the past year and a half...... we've logged over 225 shows and 18,000 miles........ Look for us to add about another 6,000 by the end of January. Jeeze........ :)

DRIVER WANTED! Apply with roach coach ready to roll!

Phil Nicolo has mixed the record, check him out in our top friends....... we absolutely fell in love with him!

There's a new West Coast Tour in the works for December/January....... if you want us in your town....... drop us a line!!

Correct = JAN-AH LOW-C (as low C on the piano)
Incorrect = jane-ah lousey, jenna lowzee

arghh!!! Wait, I do understand the trouble, it's somewhat of an unsuual name, and even if you've mispronounced it for ever, at least you've tried to say it out loud. I appreciate that. But if we try and correct this now, it won't become a habbit for newbies......and I won't have to feel bad correcting the new ones........ it makes them feel soooo bad!

Thank you for your time and consideration! ;)
