We don't necessarily put our vocals to the forefront of our songs because we like it that way, but sometimes I do wish some of the words were more understandable, so I figured I'd put some up.

––ME AND YOU CHERRY RED––

STATUETTE
Virginia's in the shopping malls
Bethany's on mirrored sand
Maria's lost in the morning sick with that bug
David's in his song and paintings
and Katherine's in the pictures again
Oh behold little statuettes

A Density of skeletal trees
resembles something like a fog
or a garden of parking meters
and all the school kids in their swim suits
of blue, green, and gold,
standing naked legged at the
island's edge
Oh behold little statuettes

Almond eyed
and precious palmed
you were girl with
fingers too long
and always my
second night time
you were splashed
in appropriate black

NO FUN
And oh, I don't remember what they said to me
When I didn't know they were too cool to care
and too strait to dare

And now, all of the truths are just drenched in dreams
And all of the words like tooth teeth and lips
are all just pheromone

And it seeps down around your knees
Cause baby we're just bloated beasts
With eyes sunk so deep in our skulls
We were dead long ago
Don't you know

And now, all of the pulls are just sucker punch
So take what you can
Cause baby you're a loaded gun

And I've been trying so very hard to let it go
But you're too cool to care
And too strait to dare

I saw fire he was dealing out a dull dose
And some say he sings
But brother he just bleeds

SAFEWORD
These are the Trojan fires
burning beggars in the street
And you can put your head down baby
but don't fall asleep

Because we're living every day like it can't get any worse
Yeah it's a plan that takes a body from the bed to a hearse

And the feeling now is all too absurd
Come on baby say the safeword

You build a troubled fortune
on the bodies that you break
When the things that you kill are the same
as the things that you take

And all the crazy kids keep squinting while they stare at the sun
And when the night comes around they think they've finally won

And the feeling now is all too absurd
Come on baby say the safeword

And I'd like to get to know you if you know what I mean

FRIENDSHIP ROAD
Who will take it, who will take it, who will take it, now it's gone, gone, gone...

CATHEDRAL BLUES ONE
She wore blonde khaki threads
where hair should've been,
and all the world's alright.
Foot steps of unbearable brush;
Maria you step so soft,
and all the world's alright.
Like breaths snake past my teeth
too soft and out of reach,
and all the world's alright.

CATHEDRAL BLUES TWO
He sat down to the war
roses spread out in his palms
and said, "Now somewhere,
I've seen your face.
You smoke red cigarettes,
out of time and out step;
the California sun is so seasonal."

He came into the room
exhaling French perfumes
and said, "now somewhere, I heard your name."
he smoked black cigarettes
outta time and outta step
the California sun’s so seasonal.

emmaemmaemmaemmaemmaemmaemmaemma
your red hair and hot mouth draped softly over your shoulder

He came into the room
exhaling French perfumes
and said, "now somewhere, I seen your face"
he smoked red cigarettes
outta time and outta breath
the California sun’s so seasonal.

oh David
your smile’s so smug
have you ever seen pacific sun?
It’s red hair and hot mouth draped softly over your shoulder

ME & YOU CHERRY RED
I rode a horse named David
down to Water St.
got fucked up and lost at sea
but hooked in isles of Bethany

I slept across the shore
became a boat obese with holes
let the water kiss my ankles
and give gifts to my toes

Virginia rode like rolling stone
into a city of trees
and Katherine played in the ocean spray
while Maria kept trying breathe

I slept across the shore
became a boat obese with holes
let the water kiss my ankles
and give gifts to my toes

So,
That E.P. we said we were going to write and record became an album. We just finished mastering yesterday. It is bombombomb, and will be out in April. The release show will be at the Turf Club on March 21st with MC/VL, Private Dancer, and Gospel Gossip.

Also,
When we said we were going to go on tour again in March, I actually meant April. Here's the itinerary so far:

AMERICA

And finally,
Some more people should design shirts for us. Kirk Hiatt in Philly, I am looking at you. Precisely. Whatever.

-Colin/V.H.

p.s. today our song "Paradise Knife Fights" was the featured song of the day on KEXP in beautiful Seattle. Look here to see the very nice things they wrote about us, hear the song, and marvel at the glory of a fine photo by Carl Wedoff. Give him your monies.

Do you design stuff?
Do you like seeing stuff you design on people's chests?
Do you want to design a t-shirt for us?

If the answer is yes, send submissions to colinuriah@hotmail.com.

Well, how do you start writing about something that was so overwhelmingly excellent?  The biggest frustration of our tour was coming home; wish we could've stayed out forever.  I know that sounds fucking cliche and hyperbolic, but it's the damn real truth.  This experience was like the surreal optimism you feel as a bald man watching a miracle cure for hair loss commercial.  New York is a vision.  Same goes for San Francisco.  Shannon and the Clams made us wiggle like worms.  Missoula, Montana's very own Palace Billiards rivals many a bar in America.  Chris Bauman made our lives worth living there.  Seattle was greatly enhanced by Wes, John and Andy, the city is so clean it makes me sick.  Salt and Samovar was an oasis.  Believe it or not, Ames, Iowa is more entertaining and has more character than Los Angeles.  The Practice Space is hells of favorite.  These Are Powers put some sleigh bells down and were incredible.  Wolves in the Attic are tight.  Minneapolis was classically insane and we played our worst show of tour.  The Ballet and Mixtapes hooked us up in ze Quad Cities.  El Jesus DeMajico are the only band I've ever seen that have covered the Velvet Underground well.  Nick T. and Ron pretty much made Columbus the most fun two days ever, their hospitality goes miles.  Again, New York is awesome.  New London, CT defied all expectations.  Jeff at the Spaz in Greenville threw us the biggest bone and helped us out so much in a tight spot  and it is so appreciated.  Driving from Chapel Hill to Minneapolis was too much and our van died the next day.  R.I.P. van that remained relatively unnamed.  You had so much potential to have a shitty pun stuck on you.

But I digress.  If you've made it this far you may be interested to know that we will be heading back out on the road this March extensively once again.  So yeah, if you want us to come to your town, get in touch now if you can help us out.  We're looking to go everywhere we were and more.  We're starting work on a new E.P. (!) that will be the catalyst for this chunk of touring, and we also shuld have vinyl of our first two E.P.s and full length (hopefully there will be some left, very limited runs on these).  We sold out of our first e.p. "At Wizard Island: Too Punk To Fuck" while we were out, so this vinyl pressing my be the last chance you have to get it.

It's late and I can't tell if I'm missing anything important or not... I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the Red Sox won.

Hello,
So as some of you may have seen, we've started posting the dates to our six week tour with Thunder in the Valley.  If you happen to notice gaps and you think you can help, it would- of course- be immensely appreciated.
In other news, our albums are at the pressing plant as we speak and will be ready for our release shows (whew).  We're almost completely out of our first e.p. (15 copies) and running low of the second one.  Hopefully we'll have some vinyl for the east coast in late October.
