Mike Lapp (drums) is leaving the band. he is a very talented young man and his talents are leading him to pursue otha thangs.

if anyone knows a good drummer, please talk to us.

our final show with Mikey is this thursday at the Crossroads in garwood, nj. our good friend Legendary Pillow Stomper is on that bill (he and his friend nicole got us the show! thanks ya'll). and it's a preatty cool venue (i hear the food is fantastic) so come hang out with us it'll be our last night as the super-original line-up of Cranes are Flying. heh.

so, the summer is over i guess (tho not for another couple weeks technically), and Cranes are Flying is up to stuff!

we were in the studio yesterday, basic-tracking. we are going to hopefully record a total of 6 songs (a couple of which have been recorded already, but not with mike, and they've been changed a bit since then). the plan for these tracks is to release what we hope will turn out to be two split EPs w/ a couple of bands that we will announce as things become more final. but suffice it to say both the bands we are in talks with are great friends of ours and we are really excited about this prospect.

for the next few months we plan to continue focusing on writing and recording, but we have on show coming up on sept, 16th and another on halloween. check out our page for the data on those.

Yo, Children!!
this is proving to be a very busy summer for us as a band, i just wanted to take a moment to talk about it.
if you are even reading this (not only am i profoundly thankful for your kind attention and support, but) you are probably aware that we have been playing a tonnn of shows over the past couple months.
we've considered each of these shows to be an enormous personal success for us, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to making them so. (read: you, for bringing your ass, and your friends' asses, to our shows).

we got super excited about the addition of Mike on drums that we booked a zillion shows as soon as possible, and, as you can expect, we are beginning (though, just beginning) to feel the wear. SO, we have decided to take a break from playing shows beginning in august. we will be writing and practicing as much as possible and also working toward making a record.

HOWEVER, before any of that we still have TWO MORE SHOWS this month and they are both FREE!!
the first is tomorrow jul. 21st at Pianos. doors at 8, we play about 9:30. Pianos is a fantastic venue on the lower east side and holds a huge place in my heart, it's not often you get a chance to see a free show there, come take advantage!!
the next is jul 31st at bar Matchless in greenpoint. we played there last month, also a great bar and this time around we have J*Force and Ivan and the Terribles on the bill w/ us. both these bands are our friends and we are really excited to be playing w/ them. this is going to be a very, very fun show.

so in summation, thanks for being so awesome. we hope yo see you at these our last two shows of the summer proper, and we can't wait to see you again in the fall.
