MC Zani rocked the Azores on 23 August 2009. Hitting the main stage of the Festival Maré de Agosto, the beachside festival goers were treated to a pre-gentleman beatbox sesh.

Reeps One takes the 2009 title!
After months touring the country gathering the top 8 battlers, the Grand Final was set for June 20th, 2009 at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, London. The night kicked off with Judges Tyte, Indra and Faith SFX showing the crowd just why they were up on stage as the judges for the event. The crowd started off a little cold, but by the time Faith was finished with them, the were ready for more! Bauchklang then took the stage, and we think it's fair to say that a few minds were blown this night. The sheer talent of the group just leaps out of the speakers. The arrangments, musicality, and interaction between the artists just took the place by storm and showed the crowd exactly how a group of beatboxers can do anything a 'regular' band can do, and better!!!!
Next up came the moment everyone was waiting for, the battles. One by one, the competitors fought through the quarter finals, then semi-finals. Judging must have been difficult as the quality of all the competitors was fantastic, and some of the battles were right down to the wire. In the end, only one could take the title of 2009 Vauxhall UK Beatbox Champion. Reeps One took the crown and also wins himself a brand new Vauxhall Corsa SXI worth £14,000!

We're pleased to announce that The Boxettes have joined the 5th Element roster! We hope to see these incredibly talented women take the music world by storm! The Boxettes are a female vocal quintet who experiment with extended vocal techniques beyond what is expected of the human, let alone the female voice. Each from a variety of musical backgrounds and styles, the Boxettes were brought together in 2007 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (one of the top music colleges in Europe) where they all study jazz. This melting pot of five such individual and contrasting voices has formed an exquisite new sound, both versatile and original.
