Visit DLF.TV for updates from David Lynch who is in India working on his latest film, a documentary about Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (founder of the Transcendental Meditation Program).

David is traveling with Bobby Roth, DLF's Vice President, who has been sharing beautiful and insightful anecdotes about their adventures via twitter.com/bobbyroth

Bobby's tweets are great. You kinda feel like you're right there with them visiting ashrams, meditating in temples, driving down the bumpy and sometimes dangerous roads, smelling the sandalwood... and ox dung. He noted recently that their team includes many of the guys who organized and shot the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

Also with them is the extremely talented Richard Beymer (aka Ben Horne from Twin Peaks) who is filming behind the scenes footage.

Looking forward to seeing how David weaves together everything they capture on this amazing journey.

Enjoy!

On January 11th 2007, Barnes and Noble Union Square kicked off the first edition of Upstairs at the Square. The excitement was high as David Lynch was paired up with Au Revoir Simone in a unique interview setting. Lynch was there to discuss his book on meditation and creativity, Catching the Big Fish… and Au Revoir Simone played some songs from their album The Bird of Music. The ladies also provided dreamy background music for Lynch as he read from his book. Au Revoir Simone’s sounds and angelic voices won over the heart of David Lynch and they have been good friends ever since.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Tune in to DLF.TV this Sunday for the Shadows music videofrom Au Revoir Simone's latest album Still Night, Still Light.

President Bill Clinton is giving the welcoming address (via video) to the American Indian Sustainability Conference this weekend. The conference begins at 7:30pm(CST) this Friday and continues through Sunday at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

DLF.TV has organizded a LIVE webcast of the conference. To view the conference online or to attend in-person, register now at
americanindiansustainableconference.org

Prosper Waukon, conference moderator, has been developing a five-point plan with the Hocak Elders Council, Inc., of the Winnebago Reservation.

The conference will explore innovative ways to realize the goals of the five-point plan, which includes (1) improving educational outcomes through stress-reducing, consciousness-based meditation; (2) improving health and reducing diabetes, heart disease, and substance abuse through prevention-oriented, natural medicine; (3) promoting energy and economic self-sufficiency through wind and solar technologies; (4) growing healthy, nutritious food through organic greenhouses; and (5) safeguarding the land, language, and culture of American Indian populations.

Some of the speakers include:

Joe A. Garcia, President of the National Congress of American Indians
Robert Cook, President of the National Indian Education Association
Lucille Echohawk, strategic advisor for the Casey Family Programs
Kevin Skenandore, Acting Director of the Bureau of Indian Education
............
The David Lynch Foundation is honored to co-host this conference with the following organizations:
Indian Health Services (IHS)
Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
National Indian Education Association (NIEA)
Winnebago Tribal Health Services (WTHS)
Winnebago Treaty Hospital – IHS
Hocak Elders Council, Inc.

We have been collaborating with American Indian schools on Reservations in Nebraska, South Dakota, Maine, and Arizona over the past few years. Several controlled studies have shown a reduction in absenteeism and 30% increase in graduation amongst the students participating in the "Quiet Time" or Transcendental Meditation Program.

In addition, we are exploring the benefits of the TM Program on health because in
some American Indian communities up to 80% of the population suffers from the diabetes. The National Institute of Health has recently provided more funding for research in this area, but the results so far have been very positive:
