Ok, well I've been really busy since I got back from the USA so I'm just going to copy and paste Bruce's comments about the gig. Remember, these are his words and not mine! I will update with my thoughts as soon as I can.

Now, where was I. Oh yes, the gig. Well to be honest, we were all a bit gutted after the show because we felt we played poorly. We had a rushed sound check because Magic Pie ran over substantially. Subsequently, the stage sound was terrible and we didnt have time to sort out monitor mixes. No one could hear anything (including the click track for we love you). And look what we did to the crowd:

Ive seen a few posts about the neoness of the audience and to be frank, we always knew we would split the audience. Frankly, if people just want to hear neo-prog thats fine with me - but you wont like us. But the good proportion of the audience who DID want to hear us, thats where I feel bad, because we can simply play much better than we did. And for that, I am sorry. And there is only so much we can blame on the stage sound. The gig kicked off with Rich introducing us on stage, which was a nice touch. For those who dont know Rich (and his wife Julie), they come to pretty much all our gigs and pushed the boundaries even further by coming to the philly gig too!

The first song went ok (the world i always dreamed of) and it seemed to be going down well (despite the neo lot clearly requiring more widdling/noodling/meandering). OK, so the whole gig went down really well. But Im still annoyed we could have been so much better!

We made a few cockups, missed a few entries, i forgot how to play a d major, but we still gave it our all.

The clapping experiment worked well. I am waiting on the live tapes but it looks like the idea of ending the new album with claps from Telford and USA is on (although the bloke in the purple top will NOT be getting a credit!):

And then it was done. We descended into the depths of the Colonial Theatre, found our dressing room and drank some consolatory beers. A few minutes later, the promoter called us up lads, you gotta come up and take a bow - we had no idea the audience was still cheering after all this time (we were told firmly no encores due to the schedule overrunning). It was a nice feeling, especially as we were all feeling pretty deflated at this point

It was good to meet so many TPT fans after the gig. Ive seen and heard people say that they are reluctant to approach us after gigs. Can i state right now that we LOVE to speak to people so please, talk to us!
So, great feedback and a great audience (the ones who appreciated our songs that is) but personally, a bad performance by the band. But, were all glad we made the trip. We should be releasing a DVD of the show (we had a pro rig set-up by my friend Joe consisting of 3 hi-def cameras) as long as I dont cry myself to sleep after mixing the live multitrack. Ill keep you posted.
Im now off to finish the album. Thanks to everyone at the gig for your support, we really need it.
Bruce
