I've just uploaded my remix of the new X-Press 2 track "Kill100". I've given it more of a "breaks" feel but keeping most of the vox for the original. Let me know what you think.

The aim is to gain 100 approved remixes and make them available for download. Will update you with any details when I know them.

The blurb...

"Dirty HiFi and Aaron Slater drop the long awaited follow up to Fiberlineaudio's hit single Alien To Me. Supernatural is a funky slice of electronica with gated vocals ala Aaron Slater and a upfront dance vibe from Steve Kitch."

This track can currently be previewed on my Myspace player.

Current mood:  accomplished
Ok, so I went to St. Ives to take a break and ended up on a three day drinking binge. How do I let these things happen? Must be the rock n roll in my blood. Anyway, I thought I had things under control when I suddenly hit on major computer issues. First, my laptop power supply blew up then my main studio PC refused to turn on! On top of this, Bruce's latest track had been doing my head in. Mr. Soord had a very particular drum sound in mind which I was struggling to create. I think I am near although not 100here yet. Bruce seems happy with my rough mix but as usual has a list of tweaks the size of Somerset. I'll do these this week and upload another MP3 demo on the TPT site soon. I'll take a break from this track and move onto the next one. Can't wait. Another week of hassle and stress from the Brucester.

Anyone get the impression tensions are running high at Pineapple Thief Towers? Its 11.56pm and I have just finished mixing "Wait". Please note that this is a day early and I only got all the files today at 6pm! To be fair, it was quite an easy one and Bruce had done a lot of the work already. So if it sounds good then I shall take the acclaim. If it sounds poo then blame Bruce. I don't think even Bruce has heard it yet but I have uploaded an MP3 for you. For those who have read Brucey's blog then you will know that Bruce has given me the rough demo he recorded when he was first inspired to write the tune. The MP3 begins with this and then the full mix starts about half way through. Hopefully you will be able to tell when the proper mix starts! To check it out, click here.

Much to Bruce's dismay I am taking a well earned break to St. Ives in Cornwall for a few days. So more mixing next week.....

Back in the studio after recovering from the USA. It was my first time there and had a fantasic time. Have spent today mixing "God Bless The Child". For those who have attended recent gigs then you will recognise this as the "clapping song". Already a firm favourite. Think it's turned out OK and has passed the "Bruce car test". Will probably need some further tweaks but it's nearly there. Will post up a demo on the Pineapple Thief site soon.

Ok, well I've been really busy since I got back from the USA so I'm just going to copy and paste Bruce's comments about the gig. Remember, these are his words and not mine! I will update with my thoughts as soon as I can.

Now, where was I. Oh yes, the gig. Well to be honest, we were all a bit gutted after the show because we felt we played poorly. We had a rushed sound check because Magic Pie ran over substantially. Subsequently, the stage sound was terrible and we didnt have time to sort out monitor mixes. No one could hear anything (including the click track for we love you). And look what we did to the crowd:

Ive seen a few posts about the neoness of the audience and to be frank, we always knew we would split the audience. Frankly, if people just want to hear neo-prog thats fine with me - but you wont like us. But the good proportion of the audience who DID want to hear us, thats where I feel bad, because we can simply play much better than we did. And for that, I am sorry. And there is only so much we can blame on the stage sound. The gig kicked off with Rich introducing us on stage, which was a nice touch. For those who dont know Rich (and his wife Julie), they come to pretty much all our gigs and pushed the boundaries even further by coming to the philly gig too!

The first song went ok (the world i always dreamed of) and it seemed to be going down well (despite the neo lot clearly requiring more widdling/noodling/meandering). OK, so the whole gig went down really well. But Im still annoyed we could have been so much better!

We made a few cockups, missed a few entries, i forgot how to play a d major, but we still gave it our all.

The clapping experiment worked well. I am waiting on the live tapes but it looks like the idea of ending the new album with claps from Telford and USA is on (although the bloke in the purple top will NOT be getting a credit!):

And then it was done. We descended into the depths of the Colonial Theatre, found our dressing room and drank some consolatory beers. A few minutes later, the promoter called us up lads, you gotta come up and take a bow - we had no idea the audience was still cheering after all this time (we were told firmly no encores due to the schedule overrunning). It was a nice feeling, especially as we were all feeling pretty deflated at this point

It was good to meet so many TPT fans after the gig. Ive seen and heard people say that they are reluctant to approach us after gigs. Can i state right now that we LOVE to speak to people so please, talk to us!

So, great feedback and a great audience (the ones who appreciated our songs that is) but personally, a bad performance by the band. But, were all glad we made the trip. We should be releasing a DVD of the show (we had a pro rig set-up by my friend Joe consisting of 3 hi-def cameras) as long as I dont cry myself to sleep after mixing the live multitrack. Ill keep you posted.

Im now off to finish the album. Thanks to everyone at the gig for your support, we really need it.

Today was very hectic. We all survived Gay Street with no casulties. Went to a pub that brewed their beers on the premesis. Yum. Later we went to a  jazz club later which was where the evening ended. I really wanted to hit the town but Bruce wanted us all up fresh and early in the morning. I sulked. However, what Bruce doesnt know is that myself and Mark sneaked out of our hotel and met up with Rich and Jule. Two very dedicated TPT fans that had travelled from the UK. Quite a few beers later and can't really remember the rest. Except for the waitress smashing a tray on Rich's head!

We got together for a jam this morning in Bruce's hotel room. Then it was off into Philly central to soak up the sun. We me TPT fan and Bruce's friend Will Torrens and companion Patricia for the worst mall food ever cooked by a human being. And I thought I was being clever by going Caribbean! Should of stuck to the burgers.

Soon we were amazing the locals with our hacky sack skills by some fountain. After running up the obligatory rocky steps, we find ourselves back in the hotel for another evening of meat and beer.

We really dont like posing!

Its the show tomorrow. I will update the blog late when we get back and let you all know how it went.

Bruce, our dear band leaer with very nice people, Will and Patricia outside the worst food hall on the East Coast. Although I did get a very large ice cream for $0.99!
