We’re off down to London at the start of november, with a stop in Manchester on the way back up.

“Go go gadget private jet!”

If you are near one of these, it would be great to see you. Hoots!

Ahoy folks,

I've made a couple vids for dBass, a jazz fusion collective based in Glasgow of which Roy (Inspector Tapehead drummer) is a member.

They're working on a project just now where they collaborate with artists providing visuals live. You know, kindof sparking off each other as they improvise.

They had a wee test session a while back with Fergus Dunnet which I recorded & filmed for them.

You can see the vids here: http://www.jonniecommon.com/content/2009/10/pump-up-dbass/

or here: http://vimeo.com/6581309

if you fancy, like.

Hoots!

They opened this weeks episode with the mix i did of Iona Marshall's '2 Hearts'

Cheers youz!!

Go stream it / download it from glasgowpodcart.com

I like to download it and listen to it on the bus. I have laughed out loud on more than one occassion.

Last week a woman sat across the aisle from me and started singing along to Take That on her headphones. It was remarkably tuneless. I tried to record it on my phone but you can't really make it out.

Anyway, this made me laugh too. But PodcART is a more consistent source of bus-ride chuckles.

Chris Tapehead and I recently recorded Charlot Webster’s new EP.

It is a thing of beauty and we had a really good laugh making it.

You can hear some of the tracks on HER MYSPACE
and you can buy the EP from HER WEBSHOP

Buy one of her kazoos while you’re at it. There are very few reasons not to.

I got an amazing ‘thank you’ goody bag from her in the post this morning. I shall be spending the rest of the day recording voice memos on my new dinosaur pen.

Thank YOU Charlot! x

The lovely folk at Glasgow PodcART played 'Taken In' on their latest podcast and said some things that generally made me feel rosey in the cheeks.

Thanks, youz! x

Hey Folks,

the Fence Records Homegame festival this year was a hoot and a half as usual. Great music, great people, great balls of fire.

I made up a ltd edition EP to coincide with my first 'Jonnie Common' performance.

1 - Taken In (04.10)
2 - Homegame Six Mix (10.09)
3 - Taken Out (04.12)

Track 2, the Homegame Six Mix consists of the songs 'Hand-To-Hand', 'Summer Is For Going Places' and a new variation of the remix I did for FOUND earlier this year, 'Alsation Gull Scene'. As these 3 tracks are all at 95bpm, I mixed them running together much like how I played them live in my set.

I still have a couple of copies left, so if anyone wants to buy one (£3) just geez a shout.

Big ta to:

Chris, Roy, Steve & Kath for helping me out live
Everyone who came to the rehearsal party
FOUND for being cool with me including the remix on the EP
Everyone who bought the thing
and Johnny & Kenny for letting me play at the homegame!

I'd be lost wi'oot yiz.

Cheers & Hoots!

Jonnie

I met Su & Adam ages ago when DTTS played TitP, but only for a second.

Then after seeing us again at the Fence Homegame 5, Su got in touch to ask about the possibility of doing some recording.

I checked out her myspace and really like what I heard so I invited her through to put a couple of tracks down.

When she got here, we had a cup of tea and chatted about this and that and how we were going to record, you know. Then there was a loud thump above us in the attic and we both promptly shat ourselves.

Turns out it was a bit of old cornicing falling from the original ceiling onto the actual ceiling but it was a wee bit hairy until we found that out.

Su, holding the ladder for me to climb into the attic, then running through to where we'd been sitting and poking the roof with a broom while I lie on my front across the dirty beams in darkness, talking to her through the plasterboard.

A fairly surreal start to things, but we did eventually get round to recording and the resulting version of 'Eric Is Dead' can be heard over on her page for a short time before being available on a LTD ED single at Homegame 6 (April 17-19, 2009)

I believe she is playing on the Saturday and, as long as the Inspector Tapehead set runs to time, I'll hopefully be able to join her on the banjo for 'the' track.

I'd like to thank Su for the chance to work on her music.

And for holding the ladder

FOUND are the most exciting band in Scotland. Possibly the universe.

Last year I asked if I could do a remix of their track 'Alsation Gull Scene'
It is now being made available for download as part of a fundraiser album for their SXSW trip.

They have several options for you to choose how much you pay for it.
My remix is, ofcourse, priceless. But whatever.

I've done a remix of 'I Shot Shrieff' by the deliciously insane OLO Worms.
They've put it up on their myspace page and it'll be available to download when they launch their new website.

Go here: www.myspace.com/oloworms

Love them like I do.

Right, I'm off to scare some pigeons off my property.
