You might have heard already, but we are taking our sweet time writing our second Full-Length Album titled "CONCEPT OF CREATION".  The album's artwork has just been commissioned to October Promotional Design.  5 songs into the new cd and we've got thousands of ideas and many, MANY scrapped songs.  Only the strong survive.  With our most recent endorsment by STRICTLY SEVEN GUITARS both Jon and Seth are excited to be recording the album with the highest quality instruments available!  Our audio engineer will be our very own Jon Munnier, owner of JYM Studios.

Just because we're writing doesn't mean we're just going to be sitting with our thumbs up our back sides; less in-town and more in-your-town shows will be coming from spring to summer.  Hit up our current album on itunes, cdbaby.com, and many other digital sites.

Keep an eye on our tour dates for all upcoming info!

Hello everyone, this is Jon from As Forever Fades. I just wanted to inform all of you about how our night at The Cage went tonight. It went absolutely horrible and I felt it was my obligation to warn our friends, fans, and other bands about the load of bull that we encountered tonight......

We met up with our friends from His Name Was Yesterday at the show. They're on tour right now all the way from Buffalo, NY, and were supposed to share the stage with us tonight. However, right before the show started we talked the venue owner, whose name is Daniel I believe, about our show guarantees that were promised to us and His Name Was Yesterday, and he denied ever making a promise of a guarantee. We both had offer letters that were filled out by Daniel and forwarded to us by our booking agent which showed that we were promised 50 bucks plus a percentage of the door. After looking at the offer letters, he still openly denied to us that he'd ever seen them or filled them out. So basically, he was telling us a bold-faced lie right to our faces and telling us that our booking agent was full of crap.

As if that wasn't enough, he went on to talk smack about how he never offers bands guarantees and it wouldn't have mattered if it was us or a national, he still would've only offered a door split at best. This guy even name-dropped the band Flyleaf and said that he had the opportunity to get them for a show for a $15,000 guarantee, but said that it didn't matter if it would've been Flyleaf or a local band, everyone plays his venue for a door split. How much sense does that make? In other words, he'll never have more than local bands play at his venue because no national-touring band  is going to play a show without a guarantee. Which raises the question: WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF RUNNING A MUSIC VENUE IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BRING IN BANDS FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY TO PLAY MUSIC!!! WHY WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND EFFORT? THERE ISN'T A POINT!!!!!!! IT'S STUPID, AND IT'S EVEN MORE STUPID TO SCREW OVER A BAND THAT HAS LOTS OF FANS OUTSIDE OF YOUR TOWN BECAUSE THEY'LL DO WHAT THEY CAN TO SHUT YOUR ASS DOWN!!!!!!

So is breaking a fifty dollar promise to a band worth your reputation being ruined? I think not, but apparently the management of The Cage thinks so. There comes a time when a band has had enough and needs to stand up for itself. We don't care if some people won't like us now because we spoke our minds about this matter, because unfortunately situations like this happen all the time all over the nation, and yes, especially in Evansville. It's hard to understand why people don't have a lick of business common sense sometimes, but people like that don't. So if you all agree with what I'm saying, show some support and contact The Cage and tell them that what they're doing is wrong. Tell them they'll have to answer for it, and hopefully they won't be doing business for much longer so they can't take advantage of bands anymore with their shady business practices. We've had enough, and we're sorry to the fans that showed up to see us play tonight. We hope you understand and we'll play soon for you guys again. There's still the Maylene show on July 12, so if you wanna come see us at that show we have plenty of tickets available!

Until then, keep it metal, and don't forget to standup for yourselves as well. By the way, when we all went to confront Daniel again before we left the guy had his car moved from the parking lot and went and hid somewhere in the venue so he wouldn't have to talk to us again. Oh, and because he was scared to death!!! You form your own opinion of the guys' character..... Lord knows we've had other bands tell us he's screwed them too, so do yourselves a favor: STAY AWAY FROM THE CAGE!!!!

Thanks and we love you guys, our fans!!!!!

April 2009

As Forever Fades

Hello again and welcome back to yet another installment of The Hard Place. As per our agreement, I have been scouring the net looking for new and exciting hard rock and metal bands for you and this month is once again, no exception. With our increased distribution, I now have access to a great many more killer bands and so this month, along with my KY pick, I once again reach out to our neighbors and have found another great band right across the river in Evansville, IN. But enough of this jibber-jabber! Let's talk metal!!

First up this month is As Forever Fades from Evansville, IN. The band consist of Jeremy on vocals, Seth on guitar, Jon on bass and Ryan on drums. Their style (at least to me) is a mixture of old(ish) school, speed, death and hardcore. I know that sounds like a big mess o' metal, but they find ways of squeezing all those various styles into a single song and make it flow almost effortlessly. For this review I went to the bands' myspace page, where they had a few tracks posted from their latest CD "From Tragedy" as well as a couple from and earlier release entitled "Words Unclear".

Throughout all the songs, the "chug" riffs don't sound tired or ripped from another song. Believe me, coming up with truly new rhythmic patterns is no easy task. The song "The Voice to Reason With", from their latest release "From Tragedy", is a great example of this. This one as well as another "Tragedy" track entitled "Dry Hope" also show off the tightness of the band, with the guitars and kicks pounding in lock-step to drive the riffs home. The band is equally at home throwing down some serious speed metal with blast beats and riffs before diving back into some seriously heavy breakdowns (check out "Dry Hope" and "Words Unclear") and even throws in some thick sludge riffs that seem to ooze out of the speakers ("My Power, My Curse" from "Words Unclear"). When it comes to leads, the guitar is treated more as a melodic texture than a standard metal solo. Call it "melodic ear candy" before the band breaks into more furious riffs and blast beats. The pull-off solo in "The Voice" and the wah-wah laced section of "Words Unclear" are good examples of this in action. That's not to say that the band can't tear up the fretboard, though. The guitar and bass show some very dexterous playing on all the songs, blazing through tandem licks like they've been doing it for years. I especially like the cool "stumbling" riff in "Words Unclear" and the chords in the instrumental section of "The Voice", as they bring a nice texture to the track to give the listener a tiny reprieve from the more hardcore verses. The drums are played tight, but aren't what you'd expect from a band of this style. There's more than just blazing kicks and blast beats to make a good song, and he uses more "standard" beats in the right places to help lift the riffs out of the "everyone blazing all the time" mentality that some bands in this genre fall into. The vocals are great on all the tracks, going from a deep, guttural - but still slightly understandable - death growl (his main vocal style) to throat ripping screams, and is convincing at both ends of the spectrum.

As Forever Fades hits you with their music full force and never lets up til the track ends. The band seems to favor straight forward power in their riffs and have the skill to make you feel the brutality that they are trying to convey. Their style encompasses many genres of metal, and whether it's the speed metal of "Dry Hope" or the heavy sludge riffing of "My Power, My Curse", As Forever Fades never seem to be trying to be anything but themselves. They will be playing at The Internet Cafe in Evansville on April 11th and you can check out all the songs mentioned here by going to mypace.com/asforeverfades.

Hey Everyone,

We know times are rough for everyone. People are losing their jobs, the housing market sucks, and people are that much more careful with their money right now. We understand just as much as everyone else. Venues are starting to book regional bands less and less because of money concerns and "baby bands" like us are struggling like everyone to be put in a position where they can make some money and play for the people that matter: YOU FANS!!!! It is for this reason that we've decided to post up a paypal donation button under our shows display. Nobody has to donate and we'll still love each and every fan we have if they can't donate, but if you guys want to see us play different places, buy new merch items, and put out a new record for you next year, your help would be greatly appreciated!!! Once again, if you can't donate, no worries, but if you can, it'll greatly help us put out new products and pay for travel expenses. ALL MONEY WILL BE USED FOR THOSE PURPOSES!!! Thanks so much for your support of the As Forever Fades cause!!! We love you all and as always, without you, none of this is possible!!! Keep checkin back for more updates!!!

Hey Everyone,

Due to various circumstances we have decided to end our contract early with uThunder Records. It was a mutual decision made by both sides due to several different reasons that would take too long to describe in a blog, so I'll summarize very quickly by saying that none of our goals had been met with the label and our contract would've been up in June, so rather than drag it out another couple of months with the end result being nothing would get done, uThunder decided to respect us and give us a chance to pursue business opportunities elsewhere. We wish uThunder the best. So, basically what this all means is that it may be a little while longer getting our cd out to all of you awesome fans of ours, but it is available on iTunes and other digital stores in the meantime. We are talking to a few different people about some different opportunities, so we'll be sure to let you know when the next big announcement comes time to be made. Don't worry about us....... this is just another hurdle and step we had to take in the complex world of the music business. We're gonna keep on truckin' as we always do and explore our options, and in the meantime we'll keep writing and making cool new stuff for the people that matter.... YOU GUYS! OUR FANS! So keep checkin' back.... I'm sure there'll be cool stuff happenin' soon.....
