A warrior dumb on war

Sen. Jim Webb, D-VA., has recently criticized Republican Presidential nominee John McCain for not endorsing the bi-partisan supported refunding of the Montgomery GI Bill. "The one person who ought to be on this bill is John McCain," Webb announced. "John McCain constantly talks about how important this war is and constantly talks about how important military service is and as I’ve reminded him, ’John, Uncle Sam paid for your education at the Naval Academy, paid for your dad’s education, paid for your grandfather’s education…’ I think the people who have already given this kind of service deserve to have their education paid for." Webb repeated his criticism of McCain at a Colorado Democratic Party dinner that drew more than 1,900 attendees.
The 21st Century GI Bill would, "improve benefits for our men and women in uniform today and provide long overdue benefits for the veterans and military retirees who have already served."
Benefits would include making healthcare accessible and affordable for veterans, ending the Disabled Veterans’ Tax, ending the Military Families Tax, and providing additional funding to assist homeless veterans with employment. Introduced in January 2007 the bill has been supported by numerous organizations and senators including
Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama.
McCain’s response to Webb was, "I have not had the chance to examine it carefully. It seems to me that it is a good thing to do. But I haven’t examined the bill with the care that it needs. … Obviously we want to make sure that every veteran who comes back from serving their country has the ability to receive a quality education. And I’m obviously committed to that."
H.R.2702 or To amend title 38, United States Code, to establish a program of educational assistance for members of the Armed Forces who serve in the Armed Forces after September 11, 2001, and for other purposes, was introduced 6/13/2007. Why then after 10 months has John McCain still not examined the bill and either supported it or informed the general public as to why he disagrees with the bill. Although it shouldn’t surprise anyone that senator McCain would be so ignorant on the issues being brought forth by Congress since he still believes that
Shiite Iran is supporting Sunni Al Qaeda. A notion as silly as the Hatfields helping the McCoys.
