tis the year 1870, and a spanish farmer lets his land go fallow for the summer. he leaves the village for barcelona in search of a wife...a young graduate catches his eye, and before long, the two are in and out of love...so it goes...
this is the story of el barbecho de barcelona, a futile conception in its own right. written many moons ago, it was recorded by luke ryan for $35 in queens, new york back in april. we made the finishing touches back home with the help of keith milgaten.

We're going on 91X Loudspeaker at 8 pm to promote Crickets & Ribbits, our first EP. Get a free copy tonight at The Office for our CD Release Show! If your bellies aren't too full after the Super Bowl, come smoke a super bowl with us (:
The album was recorded live in San Francisco back in November. It's a straight forward stomp...five small town folk songs including two covers:
Crickets & Ribbits EP

Two LA artists helped us out...The cover is by Darren Pearson. Check out heartmonster.com and dariustwin.com. Glenn Harris also shot a documentary/video to be unveiled soon. Stay tuned...

Our first EP, Crickets & Ribbits, is official!!! We recorded live in San Francisco this weekend with a cast of friends and foes including: members of Zodiac Death Valley (SF) members of Lauren DeRose (SD) singer/songwriter Dan Owens (SF)
We taught everyone the songs ten minutes before recording them, and the whole she-bang was handled in one take. This shit turned out raw as fuck, and we're pretty happy with it...missed chords, imperfections and all.
We'll be collaborating with artists Darren Pearson from LA & Dane Eisenbart from Eugene, Oregon on the album artwork. It should be ready to rumble by the New Year.
Amor, D&D
PS: Filmmaker Glenn Harris documented this whole weekend, half of which is recorded in 8mm black and white...A tour diary and music video to accompany the album's release. Ryan McPherson from Vegas will also be filming a follow-up music video.

Holy shit, the road was amazing! We started out in Vegas where we bedded down with Ryan McPherson and emerged from Sapphire Strip Club at dawn. The Grand Canyon was grand...we jammed in a cave and recorded a song called Vaudevillains. Flagstaff is such a cozy little mountain town, and the creeks of Sedona are splendid. Phoenix was a boiling pleasure as always, and LA always makes for an interesting night. Coming home to the Tower Bar and a Scarlet Symphony show was a storybook conclusion.
We were so honored to tour with guys as amazingly talented and humble as Zodiac Death Valley. They killed it each and every night, and we can't wait to get to the Bay Area. See you soon...D&D
